Neil Patrick Harris Plays ‘A Jackass’ On Tonight’s ‘Glee’

‘I certainly had a love scene offscreen with Sue Sylvester,’ NPH jokes of getting close to the show’s Cheerios coach. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Neil Patrick Harris Photo: MTV News On Tuesday night’s (May 18) episode of “Glee,” Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) comes face-to-face with his onetime high school rival, Bryan Ryan. “How I Met Your Mother” actor Neil Patrick Harris guest stars in the role, flexing his singing muscle. “Well, I’m on it,” Harris told MTV News. “I sing a bit, and I’m a jackass. I sing a few [songs], one of which is ‘Dream On’ by Aerosmith. And yeah, that’s me hitting the high note at the end, FYI.” In the episode, directed by Joss Whedon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), Gleeks will learn what’s at the root of the feud between the former classmates, and the revelation will be a surprising one, according to Harris. But Harris isn’t only fighting. He hinted there might be some loving too — with a certain head coach. “I don’t know what scenes made it. I certainly had a love scene offscreen with Sue Sylvester, and that was exhausting,” Harris joked. “But we’ll see when we watch the show.” MTV News caught up with Morrison at the Fox upfronts in New York City on Monday, and though he wouldn’t confirm the specific episode story line, he did admit that Jane Lynch, who plays Sue, was known to get frisky with her co-stars on set. “Oh yeah! NPH! I actually haven’t seen the episode so I don’t know,” Morrison said, referring to Harris. “This whole season has felt like one long episode, so it’s kind of hard to think back and remember … I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow night. I cannot confirm nor deny that, but Jane Lynch is known to do that. I might have done that as well.” Who do you think would win in a sing-off between Matthew Morrison and Neil Patrick Harris? Idol Castoff Alex Lambert Helps Fuel Anti-Bowersox Trend

Last night’s Young Hollywood Awards put a spotlight on several glamorous vampires, including the Twilight pixies and the cast of The Vampire Diaries , but the most sinister quote of the evening came from a kid who’s not known for being a bloodsucker. Alex Lambert (who capitalized on his regrettably early American Idol elimination by moving into Simon Fuller’s If I Can Dream web series house) seized the opportunity to cast shade on Crystal Bowersox, who seems to be losing her once-massive edge on Lee DeWyze. Lambert must’ve left his diplomacy in his other mullet.

‘Vampire Diaries’ Cast Reacts To ‘Bonkers’ Season Finale

‘I had a lot of fun being crazy and doing bad things,’ Nina Dobrev says of Thursday’s shocking episode. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by James Lacsina Paul Wesley Photo: Valerie Macon/ Getty Images On Thursday night’s season finale of “The Vampire Diaries,” fans were treated to a thrill ride of plot twists, turns and OMG moments. With some cast members dying, others with lives left in peril and still others with secrets revealed, fans are left salivating to find out what will happen when season two returns later this year. And while viewers were left stunned by the road the finale went down, even the cast couldn’t believe how the season all came to a head. “There’s a bunch of cliffhangers and surreal, strange things that occur in this last episode,” Steven R. McQueen, who plays Jeremy, told MTV News at the Young Hollywood Awards on Thursday night. “I think we all took it as a blessing to be able to play these strange situations that can never occur in real life and just feel honored and blessed.” Zach Roerig, who plays Matt, added, “Very eloquently said, right?” And Candice Accola summed up the episode, saying, “It was a bonkers finale — is everyone flipping out?” But what Accola wouldn’t dish on is whether Tyler (Michael Trevino) is a werewolf, an aspect of his life teased in the finale. “I plead the Fifth. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Who knows? I don’t know,” she said, adding that she also doesn’t know what will happen to her character, Caroline, after the car crash. “I don’t know. This is going to be such a pain in the butt for you ’cause I don’t know. There is a car crash that happens, but I really don’t know the outcome of it.” The show’s male lead, Paul Wesley (Stefan), initially had his fears about doing so much in the finale, but he was truly pleased by the way it all turned out. “Well, I was like, ‘Whoa, this a huge endeavor,’ ” he said. “The last four pages … really take the audience on a little bit of a thrill ride. I mean, the whole thing’s good, but the way it ends is kind of incredible.” His love interest on the show, Nina Dobrev (Elena), agrees. “I remember sitting in bed reading the script, and when I got towards the end it was so [crazy]. Every single episode of ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ I feel I am always shocked and surprised. … This one being the finale has to exceed all expectations and go above and beyond,” she said. “And I think it does, and it’s crazy and fun, and I had a lot of fun being crazy and doing bad things.” Did you see the finale? What shocked you most?

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season Finale: Bloody Twists, Shocking Kisses

The rising death toll and one character’s return makes season two seem centuries away. By Nuzhat Naoreen Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley in the “Vampire Diaries” finale Photo: CW When “The Vampire Diaries” star Nina Dobrev stopped by MTV News last week, she warned that the season finale would be full of “cliffhangers, deaths and blood.” The girl wasn’t kidding. Thursday’s finale featured nonstop twists and turns, including the deaths of three characters and the return of a very unexpected one, Katherine. Elena, Stefan and Damon joined the rest of Mystic Falls to celebrate what they thought would be a worry-free Founder’s Day (apparently, they don’t watch this show). As Damon put it, for once, there wasn’t a looming threat, especially since Bonnie had deactivated the device aimed at killing vampires. What could possibly go wrong? The answer: everything — especially since Bonnie lied about working her magic on the device, which was now in Johnathan Gilbert’s very untrustworthy hands.

‘Eclipse’ PG-13 Rating Promises ‘Intense Action,’ ‘Some Sensuality’

Reasons given for rating indicate more action and violence than ‘New Moon’ and ‘Twilight’ movies. By Eric Ditzian Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in “Eclipse” Photo: Summit In an unsurprising development that nonetheless provides titillating insight into what’s to come, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” received a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America’s Classification and Ratings Administration, according to a report from BoxOfficeMojo.com . Both “Twilight” and “New Moon” were rated PG-13 as well, but it is the explanation behind their ratings that gives subtle hints as to what “Eclipse” has in store when it hits theaters on June 30. “Eclipse” received a PG-13 rating for “intense sequences of action and violence, and some sensuality.” By contrast, “Twilight” was tagged PG-13 because of “some violence and a scene of sensuality” and “New Moon” nabbed its rating due to “some violence and action.” Was “Twilight” notably more sensual than “New Moon”? According to some folks, so it seems. And what’s the exact distinction between “some sensuality” and “a scene of sensuality”? Does that mean “Eclipse” will have two or more such scenes? That sound you hear? The Twilight-verse uttering a collective, anticipatory shudder. “Eclipse,” no doubt, will feature its Edward-Bella-Jacob love triangle front and center, as the first trailer for the film made clear in March: lovers in a flower-covered meadow, Taylor Lautner with his shirt off and so on. But you can also expect a heavy dose of action — “intense sequences of action and violence,” to be exact — as evidenced by the flick’s second trailer : fights, fights and more fights. What else would you expect from director David Slade, who also helmed the vampire horror movie “30 Days of Night”? So that makes it three straight PG-13 movies, and when it comes to the adaptation of “Breaking Dawn,” the final book in the vampire book series, you can expect more of the same. That is, despite a hefty dose of vampire-on-teenager sex and the horror movie-esque birth of a vampire/human baby, “Breaking Dawn” is planned as a PG-13 release. “That’s your audience,” screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg said last month. “In this series, you don’t sacrifice anything. There are some movies that wouldn’t play at PG-13, like ‘The Hangover,’ but this is just not one of them for me. Again, if you’re capturing character, emotion and emotional journey, you’re OK.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Kristen Stewart Scores Two Best Kiss Nods For MTV Movie Awards

‘New Moon’ and ‘Runaways’ star is up for lip-locks in both films at the awards show. By Jocelyn Vena Kristen Stewart Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage It’s a good thing “The Hangover” isn’t up for Best Kiss at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards . The nomination front-runner snagged six nods but was shut out of the kissing category, leaving room for “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart to dominate. KStew is not only nominated for her steamy kiss with Robert Pattinson in “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” but she could also win for her girly lip-lock with Dakota Fanning in “The Runaways.” Stewart has been quite the busy girl this year! When MTV News caught up with the star last year, we asked which big-screen co-star was the better kisser: RPattz’s Edward Cullen or Fanning’s Cherie Currie . “Cherie, yeah,” Stewart laughed. Still, Stewart will have some stiff competition at the awards show. Also in the running for most memorable smooch are Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds for “The Proposal,” along with Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington for “Avatar.” And yet another “Twilight” star made the list, albeit not for the vampire saga. Taylor Lautner’s kiss with his onetime lady love and co-star Taylor Swift in the rom-com “Valentine’s Day” rounds out this year’s Best Kiss nominees. While “Twilight” fans may be pulling for the series’ stars, Lautner and Swift can probably count on support from “Valentine’s Day” co-star Jessica Alba, who gushed about the pair earlier this year. “Taylor Swift is so cute,” Alba said. “And Taylor Lautner is so cute. Their story line is definitely one of my favorites.” What was your favorite kiss at the movies this year? Tell us in the comments! ‘The Hangover,’ ‘New Moon,’ ‘Avatar’ Lead 2010 MTV Movie Awards Nominations

Voting begins Wednesday for the MTV Movie Awards, which air live on MTV June 6. By Eric Ditzian Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms and Bradley Cooper in “The Hangover” Photo: Warner Bros. Beware the power of an overwhelming “Hangover.” That’s the first lesson of the 2010 MTV Movie Awards , because the votes are in and the Bradley Cooper-starring comedy leads the field with six nominations. Following close behind in that flick’s boozy wake are “New Moon” and “Avatar,” each of which nabbed five nominations. “The Hangover” was tapped in categories including Best Movie, Best Comedic Performance (Cooper and Zach Galifianakis) and Best Villain (Ken Jeong). After “Twilight” led the 2009 awards with seven nominations, the vampire sequel’s 2010 nods include Best Movie, Best Female Performance (Kristen Stewart), and Best Male Performance (Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner). “Avatar” scored in such categories as Best Movie, Best Female Performance (Zoe Saldana) and Best Villain (Stephen Lang). Hosted by Aziz Ansari , the Movie Awards air live on Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET. Starting Wednesday, May 12, through Saturday, June 5, you’ll be able to head to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for a winner in every category. Voting for Best Movie, however, will stay open throughout the awards show on June 6 — meaning you’ll have a chance to affect the night’s biggest prize until the very last minute. Rounding out the Best Movie category are “Alice in Wonderland” and “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” In addition to the “Hangover” and “New Moon” boys, the Best Male Performance category consists of Channing Tatum (“Dear John”), Daniel Radcliffe (“Half-Blood Prince”) and Zac Efron (“17 Again”). Joining Stewart and Saldana as Best Female Performance nominees are Amanda Seyfried (“Dear John”), Emma Watson (“Half-Blood Prince”) and Sandra Bullock (“The Blind Side”). MTV will also introduce three brand-new categories at this year’s show. Freaking over their nods for Best Scared-as-Sh– Performance will be Alison Lohman (“Drag Me to Hell”), Amanda Seyfried (“Jennifer’s Body”), Jesse Eisenberg (“Zombieland”), Katie Featherston (“Paranormal Activity”) and Sharlto Copley (“District 9”). The Biggest Badass Star category has laid the smackdown on Rain, Angelina Jolie, Channing Tatum, Sam Worthington and Chris Pine. And swooping in to compete for Global Superstar are Pattinson, Stewart, Lautner, Radcliffe and Johnny Depp. The Best Kiss category will feature a lip-smacking showdown of “Twilight” franchise stars: Stewart and Pattinson (“New Moon”), Stewart and Dakota Fanning (“The Runaways”), and Lautner and Taylor Swift (“Valentine’s Day”), as well as Bullock and Ryan Reynolds (“The Proposal”) and Saldana and Worthington (“Avatar”). Battling it out for Best Villain will be Jeong (“The Hangover”), Lang (“Avatar”), Christoph Waltz (“Inglourious Basterds”), Helena Bonham Carter (“Alice in Wonderland”) and Tom Felton (“Half-Blood Prince”). ‘Breaking Dawn’ Cast Negotiations Hit A Snag On Two-Film Deal

Sources say Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene and others want raises if ‘Twilight’ film is split in two. By Adam Rosenberg Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz Photo: Tasos Katopodis/Getty Images As “Twilight” super-fans prepare to buy tickets to “Eclipse” when they go on sale this Thursday, Summit Entertainment is reportedly caught up in a little vampire skirmish of its own during negotiations for making the saga’s final chapter, “Breaking Dawn,” into two films. The latest hold-up for the production, which was only recently confirmed for a November 18, 2011 release , is said to stem from salary disputes with several key players in the supporting cast. The Hollywood Reporter ‘s THR Esq. blog reports that the actors who play the Cullen kids, “especially Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene,” are angling for more money. The major names associated with the series are all contractually bound to stay on through “Breaking Dawn,” but new deals are required if the studio splits the story into two movies. At least two actors’ deals are confirmed: Peter Facinelli, who plays Cullen patriarch Carlisle, and Billy Burke, who plays Bella’s father Charlie. Franchise stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are all in the final stages of securing their deals, which will reportedly grant each of them a big pay bump. Recently confirmed director Bill Condon is locked for two movies, to be shot back-to-back, with the two-part release scheduled for November 2011 and summer 2012. Most troublingly for fans, one source states that drastic measures may be taken if agreements with the supporting cast aren’t reached soon. “We may have a situation where one of them is thrown out on the street to make a point,” said one unnamed person with close ties to the process. For the most part, fans have accepted a cast change for vampire villain Victoria (from Rachelle Lefevre in the first two films to Bryce Dallas Howard in “Eclipse”). But would they be as willing to imagine a “Twilight” world without Ashley Greene or Kellan Lutz? The issue on Summit’s side is purely financial. “Twilight” rolled out into theaters as an indie adaptation of a popular young adult novel; compare this to “Harry Potter,” which was already a blockbuster in the literary world by the time movie adaptation talk started to surface. As the vampire franchise has grown larger, budgets have increased. Supporting stars like Lutz and Greene are very much in demand, so their push for a bigger payday is understandable. Summit has a number of options. The studio could, as stated above, simply throw an actor “out on the street to make a point,” as it did with Lefevre and Howard . The studio could also scale things back and put out “Breaking Dawn” as a single movie. This seems less likely, given the length of the book and the inherent moneymaking opportunity in releasing two popular films instead of just one. Summit is also looking into moving the production. The three previous “Twilight” efforts were shot in Vancouver; the location could change to Louisiana for “Breaking Dawn,” to take advantage of the tax credits that state offers. We hope it doesn’t come to this, but which would you rather see: “Breaking Dawn” as one film with the current cast, or two films with new actors taking over the Cullen roles? Sound off in the comments. Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .
