‘I deeply apologize to the families of the victims.’ By Gil Kaufman Mark Wahlberg Photo: FilmMagic After a controversial interview in the February issue of Men’s Journal magazine went viral this week, “Contraband” star Mark Wahlberg issued an apology on Wednesday for suggesting that he might have changed the course of history on the day of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. In the interview, Wahlberg — who was scheduled to be on the flight from Boston to Los Angeles that morning which ended up crashing into one of the World Trade Center towers — said that if he had been there things might have turned out differently. “If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did,” said Wahlberg, 40, who ended up taking a private charter plane earlier in the week and avoiding the flight that was overtaken by terrorists. “There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.'” Excerpts for the interview made their way online on Wednesday and TMZ reported that the Deena Burnett-Bailey, the widow of a 9/11 victim who was killed on United Airlines flight 93 when it crashed in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania after terrorists tried to divert it to Washington, D.C., called the comments “disrespectful.” A short time later, Wahlberg issued his apology. “To speculate about such a situation is ridiculous to begin with, and to suggest I would have done anything differently than the passengers on that plane was irresponsible,” said Wahlberg in a statement. This is such a horrible tragedy. Police in a quiet Fort Worth suburb worked Monday to piece together a family history after a man dressed in a Santa Claus suit apparently shot six relatives and himself on Christmas. Grapevine police spokesman Sgt. Robert Eberling said the shooter showed up in the costume shortly before gunfire erupted and that the family appeared to have been opening Christmas presents. Police responding to a 911 call found four females and three males dead. They also found two handguns. “We think he was just inside there celebrating Christmas with the rest of them and decided for whatever reason that’s how he’s going to end things,” Eberling told The Associated Press. Investigators worked through Sunday night and into Monday morning, meticulously searching the apartment where the bodies were found, along with vehicles parked outside. Police said they believe the victims were related, though some were visiting and didn’t live in the apartment. Eberling said investigators were assembling a “family history,” and that the apartment was leased to a woman and her two children, one age 15 and the other either 19 or 20. He would not give other specifics. “We’re getting a clearer picture, but we’re not ready to go on the record with anything until we find out from the medical examiner absolute confirmation of identities and the manner of death,” Eberling said. Autopsies of the shooter and the victims were being done Monday by the Tarrant County medical examiner, but it would probably be Tuesday before their identities were released, he said. Roger Metcalf, a spokesman for the medical examiner’s office, said the victims have been tentatively identified, but the office couldn’t confirm the names because the state driver’s license fingerprint database wasn’t available on the holiday. “In addition, we need to locate next of kin before information can be released, and our investigators are working on that as well,” Metcalf wrote in an email to the AP. Late Sunday evening, police intently searched a sport utility vehicle parked outside the apartment. The vehicle is registered to a man who listed his residence as a home two miles away in the neighboring suburb of Colleyville. Thomas Ehrlich, who lives near the home in Colleyville, told the AP he heard from neighbors that police went to the house Sunday. He said he believed the man and woman who once lived there were estranged. Records show the couple had financial problems and that their home, most recently valued on the county tax rolls at $336,200, had been sold in 2010 at a foreclosure auction – although it appeared the man was still living there. “I actually saw him out doing yard work just last weekend,” Ehrlich said. Spa manager Leah Langford said she became concerned when the man’s wife didn’t show up for work Monday at the business where she had been employed for four years. Langford said she got no response when she called the woman’s cell phone, nor could she learn anything when she went to the Colleyville home and the Grapevine apartment. “For somebody who’s always early to work and who never misses a day of work, we expected the worst,” Langford said. The shootings Sunday were the first homicides in Grapevine in more than a year and a half. Police and firefighters rushed to the Lincoln Vineyards complex about 11:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call in which no one was on the other end of the line. Because no one responded on the phone, police went into the apartment, located at the back of the complex. They found the seven, aged 15 to 60, dead. Many of the nearby apartments are vacant, and police said no neighbors reported hearing anything on a quiet Christmas morning when many people were not around. A southern California woman turned herself in to authorities as the person who pepper sprayed video-game shoppers in a Walmart during Black Friday’s shopping frenzy, Los Angeles police said Saturday. The woman has not been charged because detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident that required firefighters to treat 10 people for exposure to pepper spray, authorities said. The woman’s name wasn’t released Saturday, police said. “We have her identity and we know who she is and where she is at. When appropriate action needs to be taken, we know where to find her,” said Officer Bruce Borihanh, a police spokesman. “She’s a suspect, but she’s not booked or anything, so we’re not releasing her name. “The detectives have a lot to do. They have to interview a bunch of witnesses, the victims themselves, and from there they will determine what action needs to be taken,” Borihanh said. The woman turned herself in Friday night at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire station in Northridge, California, Borihanh said. SMH. Jerry Sandusky needs to be locked up for a long time. Because the abuse has been referred to using blanket terms we wanted to really break down how nasty and damaging this sicko’s actions were. Here’s a victim-by-victim break down of the grand jury report courtesy of the New York Times : VICTIM 1 He was 11 or 12 years old when he met Sandusky in 2005 or 2006 through the Second Mile, a charity Sandusky set up to help disadvantaged boys. The coach gave the boy gifts — golf clubs, a computer, clothes — and often had him stay at his house in a basement bedroom. Sandusky would crawl into bed with him, have the boy lie on top of him and “crack his back,” pulling the boy against him and then rubbing his back. The grand jury said Sandusky performed oral sex on the boy more than 20 times in 2007 and 2008 and had the boy perform oral sex on him once. VICTIM 2 A boy, about 10 years old, was seen naked in a locker-room shower at Penn State with Sandusky in 2002 by Mike McQueary, then a 28-year-old graduate assistant and aspiring coach. The grand jury report said McQueary saw the boy “with his hands up against the wall, being subjected to anal intercourse by a naked Sandusky.” VICTIM 3 A boy, about 13, was invited by Sandusky in 2000 to his home for dinners, to go on walks and to attend Penn State football games. They exercised together and then showered. Sandusky patted him, rubbed his shoulders, washed his hair and gave him bear hugs. The boy stayed at Sandusky’s home, where Sandusky blew on his stomach, rubbed the inside of his thigh and touched his genitals. VICTIM 4 A boy, 12 or 13, “was repeatedly subjected to involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and indecent assault at the hands of Sandusky,” the report said. Contact took place in 1996 or 1997 in the locker-room shower and in hotel rooms. Sandusky gave the boy dozens of gifts — sports equipment, clothes and passes to sporting events — and threatened to send him home from the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio when the boy resisted his advances. VICTIM 5 A boy, 7 or 8, was invited in 1995 or 1996 to Sandusky family events and football games. When the boy was 8 or 10, Sandusky would roughhouse with him, then say they needed to shower. At one point, Sandusky, naked, pinned the boy against a wall in the shower, then placed the boy’s hand on his genitals. The boy slid away, and Sandusky never touched him again. VICTIM 6 When the boy was 11, in 1998, Sandusky was driving him to the university and put his hand on his thigh in the car. At the university they wrestled and Sandusky said they needed to shower. He lathered the boy in soap and bear-hugged him from behind. After the boy’s mother reported the incident to the university, Sandusky told investigators that he was wrong and that “I wish I were dead.” VICTIM 7 A boy, about 10, was invited in 1994 to numerous events and sleepovers at Sandusky’s. After a couple of years, Sandusky began putting his hand on the boy’s thigh while they were driving and on at least one occasion put his hands down the boy’s pants, though never touching his genitals. Sandusky bear-hugged him, cracked his back and shared showers. VICTIM 8 An unidentified “young” boy was seen in the shower with Sandusky at Penn State in 2000 by a university janitor. The janitor said Sandusky had pinned the boy against the wall and was performing oral sex on him. We are absolutely sickened by the fact that both the janitor and McQueary witnessed Sandusky sodomize young boys, reported it and this guy was still allowed to be on the Penn State campus and around young boys for YEARS after this happened. Everyone who knew anything about it and was in the power to do something and didn’t, should be fired. Police in the Dallas area are hunting a suspected serial rapist who appears to be targeting alumnae members of one sorority , and each of the victims told investigators the assailant seemed to have personal knowledge about them. Four alumnae of the same sorority — black women in their mid-50s to early 60s — were raped in their Dallas-area homes over the last 11 months, apparently all by the same assailant, according to an alert sent out by the Plano, Texas, Police Department. The most recent of the attacks occurred around 9:15 p.m. Friday in Corinth, police said. The police statement did not identify the sorority, but the Dallas Morning News reported that it was Delta Sigma Theta, and that the sorority had sent out email alerts to alumnae. Some alumnae of the sorority told ABC News that they themselves had not received the email alerts, but said they had heard about them from others. Besides the attack in Corinth, in Denton County, two of the rapes occurred in Plano and other in Coppell, both of which are in Dallas County. The suspect, who is seen in a surveillance video released by the Plano police, is described as a black man, estimated to be in his late 30s to mid-40s, 5 feet seven inches to 6 feet tall and 250 to 300 pounds. He has a trimmed beard and short hair, and possibly a receding hairline, police said. Each of the four attacks happened between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. According to the Morning News the alerts also advised that police have requested a full list of each chapter’s members. “I am sure this is alarming and the area DFW Chapter presidents have received many phone calls in reference to these incidents,” the email said. “Our National President, National First Vice President and Regional Director are aggressively gathering information to distribute to the chapters.” Source
Well this one sounds like a doozie. Two pregnant women fighting and slashing up other people and all over a man… Two pregnant women were arrested after a fight inside a hospital room that left a woman and a teenage girl briefly hospitalized Tuesday afternoon, police said. At 11:47 a.m., Upland police were dispatched to Crozer-Chester Medical Center on a call about a scuffle involving a weapon in one of the hospital rooms. When police arrived, they found two pregnant women, ages 21 and 22, fighting with a 36-year–old woman and a 15-year-old girl. Upland Police Investigator Steve Jackson said the victims had “wounds consistent with an edge weapon,” but could not elaborate on what type of weapon was used. The victims were treated for minor injuries at the hospital and were released about an hour later, said Kathy Scullin, vice president of marketing at Crozer-Chester. The pregnant suspects were waiting to be discharged from the hospital Tuesday evening. “Once they’re cleared medically from Crozer they’ll be brought to Chester City headquarters to be processed,” Jackson said. Upland police Chief John Easton says the women were all visiting a male patient who is recovering from a gunshot wound. Why in the world would these ladies be fighting while pregnant??? Last night’s episode of “The T.O Show” was so emotional! T.O heads to Atlanta to deal with his financial issues. As we mentioned earlier, he’s been trying to cope with the fact that one of his “friends” stole a pretty large sum of money from him and T.O is now selling his Atlanta mansion to get some money. If that’s not enough, he’s also donating many of his possessions to Habitat For Humanity for the victims of the tornado that hit Alabama this past spring. T.O meets with someone who’s home was destroyed in the tornado and he explains to her that her situation has made him reevaluate his own situation. He realizes that he is the one who provides for his whole family and is worried trying to figure out how he will continue to do that with his knee injury and now his financial situation. After Atlanta, T.O heads over to Alabama for cousin Tony’s wedding. T.O reveals for the first time his knee situation to his cousin Tony and the two have a long talk about T.O financial situation and the burdens he carries for his family. T.O gets misty eyed at Tony’s wedding because he realizes that he doesn’t have a love of his own (awww) and also realizes that it’s time to talk to his mother about everything that is going on. He finally finds the right time to sit down and talk to her, and the tears start flowing again when he explains everything to his mother. Celebrities from Anderson Cooper to Lil Wayne took to Twitter on Sunday morning to share thoughts on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 . New York native Lea Michele was in high school when NYC’s Twin Towers were destroyed, and the “Glee” star looked back on how the city has grown in the past 10 years. “NYC is one of the most strong & beautiful places in the world. I feel so blessed & proud today to have been born and raised in this city,” she tweeted . “To all the families and people of New York affected by the tragedies of September 11th my thoughts and prayers go out to you.” Travie McCoy, who was born in Geneva, New York, also took to Twitter to offer his condolences to those affected during the September 11 attacks. “Something about flying on this particular day that is mildly eerie. My heart goes out to the families of the victims of 9/11. Very sad day,” the Gym Class Heroes frontman said. CNN host and fellow New Yorker Anderson Cooper tweeted from the memorial event at Ground Zero on Sunday. He called the gathering of the families of those killed during the attack a “beautiful memorial,” and offered reminders of all the major events that occurred that day.
