Kendra Wilkinson Recalls Flirting With Coach On ‘When I Was 17’

The reality-TV bombshell looks back at her high school soccer career on the latest episode, premiering Saturday at 11 a.m. By Mawuse Ziegbe Kendra Wilkinson appears on “When I Was 17” Photo: MTV News Kendra Wilkinson has made her mark as a bubbly tomboy-ish sexpot, graduating from Hugh Hefner’s trio of girlfriends to the wife of NFL player Hank Baskett. It appears the giggly star of the E! reality series “Kendra,” which delves into her life as a party-girl-turned-homemaker and mom, got an early start mixing her love life with sports. “Soccer was my love. I had a huge crush on my soccer coach. He was like the hottest thing to ever exist,” Wilkinson says on the latest episode of “When I Was 17,” premiering Saturday at 11 a.m. Wilkinson admits she went to extra lengths to get the attention of her extra-hot coach, including altering her uniform to show off her gams. “I would totally flirt with him. I would wear shorter shorts than the other girls on purpose.” Wilkinson’s brazenness didn’t end with hiked-up shorts. The starlet, who first made a pop-culture splash as regular on “The Girls Next Door,” cavorting about the fabled Playboy Mansion with Hefner and his other girlfriends, Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt, says she would pretend to suck at soccer to get more face time with her swoonworthy coach. “We would have to run, and I would purposely be the last because he would be there behind me going, ‘C’mon Kendra, c’mon!’ ” Wilkinson remembers. “I just loved that. I loved just having my soccer coach just yelling at me. It turned me on.” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Kendra Wilkinson, Asher Roth and Kelly Osbourne — premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV. Open Thread: Another GZ Mosque Supporter Refuses to Call Hamas a Terrorist Group

The State Department classifies it as such . Apparently Imam Dawoud Kringle is of a different mind. What do you think of Andy McCarthy’s explanation for this Imam’s non-response? Is the definition of terrorism the real issue here?

NY Times Frank Rich: Fox News Trying to Portray Obama as a ‘Closet Terrorist’

Never mind the personal feelings of people, which they’re entitled to have, over the notion of a mosque being built in close proximity to Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan. Those sensitivities have nothing to do with what’s really going on. It’s really all about President Barack Obama and his political opponents according to New York Times columnist Frank Rich.  On MSNBC’s Aug. 26 broadcast of “The Rachel Maddow Show,” host Rachel Maddow admitted she was befuddle that anti-Islam sentiment has seemingly peaked in the past few weeks and wondered why it has suddenly been brought to boil, with the mosque in question at the forefront. “For all the bad decisions made post-9/11, we really didn’t see a national, like, open partisan two-minutes hate toward Muslims the way we are seeing now about this mosque debate,” Maddow said. “Why is it happening now?” This could be one of the rare moments Rich actually had something positive to say about former President George W. Bush. According to Rich, you didn’t see a hostile response toward Islam in America because Bush managed to tread lightly around the issue. “I think it’s happening now because of Obama,” Rich said. “I mean, go back to right after 9/11. Bush for whatever reason did the right thing. Very quickly he went to an Islamic center in Washington. He said Islam is a religion of peace, we’re not out to get Islam.” So if this is an occasion where the American left isn’t pointing fingers at Bush – where should they be pointed? Another go-to target loathed by liberals – the Fox News Channel. According to Rich, this was a conspiracy which FNC was in cahoots with the “right-wing” to make Obama out not only to be a Muslim, but also a “closet terrorist.” “Why is it starting up now?” Rich continued. “Well, I think it fits into, if I may say so, the Fox/right-wing strategy of trying to portray Obama as a closest terrorist basically, and a practitioner of Islam . So it has a synergy in a campaign year and this whole thing has been ginned up and it’s depressing. It’s undermining the war. It’s – it’s doing nothing but spreading bad feeling.” The debate over Obama’s religion and what certain segments of society think about the President’s faith has been a fascination of the mainstream media in recent weeks. Several polls have cast a large amount of attention to the subject, which has begged the question – if it’s silly to debate Obama’s faith, why have the media dedicated so much attention to the topic ?

CBS Uses Opposition to Ground Zero Mosque to Lecture About ‘America Becoming Islamophobic’

“A CBS News poll out tonight finds that seven of ten [71%] Americans oppose building a mosque two blocks from Ground Zero,” fill-in CBS Evening News anchor Jeff Glor announced Wednesday night, but instead of exploring why most think it’s inappropriate to build there, Glor pivoted to how that and “controversies over new mosques in Wisconsin and Kentucky have led some to question is America becoming Islamophobic, a prejudice against Muslims?” Those “some” started with the wife of the iman behind the Ground Zero mosque, Daisy Khan, who charged on ABC’s This Week, in what is becoming TV’s favorite soundbite of the week: “It’s not even Islamophobia, it’s beyond Islamophobia, it’s hate of Muslims. And we are deeply concerned.” Glor first went to how “police say anti-Islamic sentiment turned violent,” proven by a single New York City incident, as a “21-year-old man is in police custody tonight charged with attempted murder. Police say he attacked a cab driver after asking if he was a Muslim.” Glor warned “that alleged hate crime took place in the shadow of a heated and divisive debate over whether a mosque should be built near Ground Zero.” Highlighting a Time magazine poll which found “46 percent believe the Islamic religion is more likely than other religions to encourage violence against nonbelievers,” Glor wondered: “Why?” Maybe it has something to do with how the terrorists who committed the 9/11 atrocities and others since are Muslim. A university professor answered Glor’s set-up with the obvious: “Incidents like the Times Square Bomber or the Fort Hood gunman certainly should be expected to amplify people’s anxieties.” Monday night: “ ABC Works to Rehabilitate Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf’s Reputation After Pining for George W. Bush .” Sunday: “ Amanpour on One-Sided This Week: ‘Profound Questions About Religious Tolerance and Prejudice in the U.S .’” From the Wednesday, August 25 CBS Evening News, transcript provided by the MRC’s Brad Wilmouth: JEFF GLOR: In this country, it’s become the subject of a red-hot national debate, those plans to build an Islamic center, including a mosque, two blocks from Ground Zero. A CBS News poll out tonight finds that seven of ten Americans oppose building a mosque there. Our poll also found only 24 percent of Americans have a favorable impression of Islam, 39 percent unfavorable. Supporters of the Islamic center gathered near Ground Zero again today, but, in a different part of Manhattan last night, police say anti-Islamic sentiment turned violent. In New York City, this 21-year-old man is in police custody tonight charged with attempted murder. Police say he attacked a cab driver after asking if he was a Muslim. RAYMOND KELLY, NYPD COMMISSIONER: He said, “Asalaam Alaikum,” and then began to stab the driver. GLOR: That alleged hate crime took place in the shadow of a heated and divisive debate over whether a mosque should be built near Ground Zero. It’s not just protesting near Ground Zero –  the sentiment against building new mosques has reached from New York’s Staten Island 15 miles away to Tennessee where a debate over a proposed mosque near Nashville has raged all summer. UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN: It’s not about religion, it’s about stopping Tennessee homegrown terrorists. GLOR: Other controversies over new mosques in Wisconsin and Kentucky have led some to question is America becoming Islamophobic, a prejudice against Muslims? DAISY KHAN, ON ABC’S THIS WEEK: It’s not even Islamophobia, it’s beyond Islamophobia, it’s hate of Muslims. And we are deeply concerned. GLOR: A recent Time magazine poll found that 43 percent of Americans hold unfavorable views of Muslims, and 46 percent believe the Islamic religion is more likely than other religions to encourage violence against nonbelievers. Why? RICHARD LLOYD, VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY: Incidents like the Times Square Bomber or the Fort Hood gunman certainly should be expected to amplify people’s anxieties. GLOR: In this election season, politics is driving the argument as well. NEWT GINGRICH, FORMER HOUSE SPEAKER: Nazis don’t have the right to put up a sign next to the Holocaust Museum. GLOR: It’s become a wedge issue in campaigns from North Carolina to New York. RICK LAZIO, NEW YORK REPUBLICAN GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE, IN AD: We don’t need silence now, we need leadership. GLOR: But with nearly seven million Muslims and more than 1,200 mosques already in America, Muslim leaders say that fear is unnecessary. MOHAMMAD SHAMSI ALI, ISLAMIC CULTURAL CENTER: I’m very sad because we know that America is the most tolerant country in the world. GLOR: In New York, many 9/11 families insist their opposition doesn’t make them Islamophobic, they’re just trying to heal. KEN FAIRBEN, FATHER OF 9/11 VICTIM: I feel strongly about it. The mosque, I understand their religious beliefs, I understand they should have a place to pray, an educational center. I have no problems with that whatsoever. But not there. Definitely not there. GLOR: A city commission gave final approval to the Islamic center and mosque earlier this month. Opponents vow to continue their fight in court.

Fantasia Says ‘Heavy’ Incidents Led To Her Overdose

‘I wanted to sleep … and I said to myself, ‘If I don’t wake up, that might be good,’ ‘ singer says of suicide attempt. By Jocelyn Vena Fantasia Barrino Photo: Michael Loccisano/ Getty Images While fans eagerly anticipate the premiere of Fantasia’s “Behind the Music” episode on Tuesday night (August 24), where the singer will open up about her suicide attempt earlier this summer, she was a guest on the Gayle King radio show . Fantasia not only discussed her new album with King, she described the incidents that led up to her overdose. “Well, [there] was so much going on that day, and I think you know that since I’ve been in the industry, there’s always something going on in my life. And I take a licking and I keep on ticking,” she told King. “I’ve never really had the chance to release. … I wasn’t prepared. I wasn’t prepared for Hollywood … I have feelings, I do. I’m human. But I cover them up well and I keep them moving like nothing is bothering me.” “It was so heavy that day. … I told Brian [my manager], ‘I feel like I’m about to have a nervous breakdown,’ ” she recalled about the hours leading up to the overdose. “And again, because Brian knows I’m really strong, he says, ‘You got it. We can get through this.’ I just became overloaded that day.” And with rumors of a relationship with a reportedly married man, Antwaun Cook , plaguing her, she retreated, saying that she couldn’t even muster up the strength to go on for her daughter, Zion. “I couldn’t do it for Zion and it just hurt me so bad and I was out of it, Gayle, and I never go to that point. And so I stayed in my room for three days,” she said. “In the beginning [when I took the pills], I wanted to sleep … and I said to myself, ‘If I don’t wake up, that might be good.’ ” She admits that while the Cook rumors were one of the many factors that led to her breakdown, the relationship wasn’t the only factor. “When I met him, he was separated and in another home. And I don’t think I would have even been attracted to him if he was with his wife,” she said. “I definitely don’t want something that belongs to someone else. I’ve been in a lot of bad relationships. What hit me was everything was so big. It was everywhere and I was afraid that my daughter would hear it. I felt like everybody was taking what they were hearing and running with it, and I just felt like, man, everyone’s against me.” Related Videos Reactions To Fantasia’s Overdose Related Photos Fantasia’s Career In Photos Related Artists Fantasia

Nick Cannon Dodges Latest Round Of Mariah Carey Pregnancy Rumors

‘You will hear it directly from her,’ Cannon says of the chatter swirling around his wife. By Jocelyn Vena Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Photo: Kevork Djansezian/ Getty Images For months, people have been wondering if Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have a baby on the way. In May, Carey dropped out of Tyler Perry’s forthcoming movie “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf”; that sparked chatter about her being pregnant, and she has maintained a relatively low profile since then. But over the weekend, Carey was seen in a body-obscuring black princess gown at the Barretos International Rodeo in Barretos, Brazil. The photos re-ignited the rumors that the singer is indeed expecting a bundle of joy. Cannon discussed the speculation during his radio show on New York’s 92.3 FM on Monday (August 23), and he once again took the high road. “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it time and time again — when my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her,” People.com reports he said. He continued: “We all know it’s extremely personal, and it is for a woman to deal with things with her body, and especially when dealing with the idea of childbirth and all that stuff.” Cannon did say that if the couple, who married in 2008 , did ever have an announcement of that kind to make to the world they would “strategically plan it out properly” to avoid hype. “That’s something you want to keep near and dear and as close to you as you possibly can, until you’re 100 percent sure, in any situation,” he continued. “There’s a certain time limit you’re supposed to wait before you can actually officially say that you are and all that stuff. You don’t want to mislead anybody.” What do you think of how Nick and Mariah are handling the pregnancy rumors? Tell us in the comments. Related Artists Nick Cannon Mariah Carey

Jessica Alba To Star In ‘Spy Kids 4’

Actress will play mother of the preteen spies, who have yet to be cast. By Adam Rosenberg Jessica Alba Original Spy Kids Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara are all grown up now, which means that series creator Robert Rodriguez needs to enlist a new generation of pint-sized spooks. The new preteen twosome has yet to be cast, but their mother may have been found. Jessica Alba is in negotiations to take on the role of the female lead in “Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World,” The Hollywood Reporter reveals. If cast, she’ll play a newly reactivated former spy who must balance going back to work with the challenges of having two preteen children — our new spy kids — and a baby. In addition to the starring kids, two other key roles still need to be cast: Alba’s husband, a “slightly nerdy investigative reporter,” and the movie’s main villain, Time Keeper, who seeks to stop time. The report also reveals that Vega, Sabara and Antonio Banderas are expected to return in supporting roles; no word on Carla Gugino, who played the mother of the original kids and the wife of Banderas’ character. Alba has already worked with writer/director/producer Rodriguez more than once. She had one of the starring roles in the ensemble comic book adaptation of Frank Miller’s “Sin City.” And she’ll next appear in Rodriguez’s “Machete,” alongside Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro, Lindsay Lohan and more — another sizable ensemble — which hits theaters September 3. “Spy Kids 4” was previously confirmed as a 3-D release. Budgeted at under $30 million, it’s expected to start shooting next month. For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

‘The Expendables’ Defeat ‘Vampires’ At Box Office

Stallone’s ’80s-era action sendup continues to dominate, out-earning ‘Vampires Suck’ and other new releases. By Josh Wigler Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone and Randy Couture in “The Expendables” Photo: Lionsgate The Box-Office Top Five #1 “The Expendables” ($16.5 million) #2 “Vampires Suck” ($12.2 million) #3 “Eat Pray Love” ($12 million) #4 “Lottery Ticket” ($11.1 million) #5 “The Other Guys” ($10.1 million) Goofy vampires, lucky lottery winners, killer piranhas, quirky nannies and generous sperm donors all failed to capture box-office gold over the weekend thanks to the staying power of a pack of old action heroes who are apparently not past their prime. Actor, director and screenwriter Sylvester Stallone’s “The Expendables” remains the top dog at the box office, emerging from its second straight weekend victory with $16.5 million to its name. Featuring an all-star lineup of action icons both new and old, “The Expendables” has earned $64.9 million domestically in just 10 days. Given the film’s success, Stallone and his heavily muscled compadres are already thinking about story ideas for an “Expendables” sequel. The repeated success of “The Expendables” comes in the midst of a particularly crowded session at the box office, with five new wide releases arriving this past weekend. Of these movies, parody flick “Vampires Suck” fared the best, winning a second-place medal worth $12.2 million from Friday through Sunday. The “Twilight” spoof has earned $19 million since opening on Wednesday, clearing almost its entire production budget of $20 million in less than a week. Although it hasn’t quite lived up to its title, “Lottery Ticket” proved a worthwhile investment for Warner Bros. with an $11.1 million fourth-place finish, a solid start towards recouping its reported $17 million production budget. The rest of the newcomers didn’t land quite as well, with “Piranha 3D” scoring the best at sixth place. Emma Thompson’s “Nanny McPhee” sequel arrived in seventh place with $8.3 million, while the romantic comedy “The Switch,” starring Jennifer Anitson and Jason Bateman, fell flat on its face with an $8.1 million eighth-place debut. Upcoming Releases “Takers” and “The Last Exorcism” could give “The Expendables” some trouble, but the “Avatar: Special Edition” re-release could pose even greater problems for every competitor at the box office next weekend.
