Andrew Young Threatened By Elizabeth Edwards

Andrew Young, the country’s most famous campaign aide turned fall guy turned whistle blower turned absurd sex tape owner, is feeling the heat these days. Young turned over the John Edwards sex tape to a judge, as ordered, but still faces questions about where the tapes were kept and what he did with them. The former Edwards confidant struggled to answer why he said last week that the only copies of the sex tape he had access to were in an Atlanta lockbox. He testified earlier this week that he also had a copy of the tape elsewhere and he recently showed the video to ABC News in preparation for an interview. On top of potential legal action from Edwards’ mistress Rielle Hunter , whose affair with the presidential candidate Young helped hide, Edwards is pissed too. So is his wife. Elizabeth Edwards has threatened to sue him for contributing to the downfall of their marriage, according to a report in the Washington Post. John Edwards whistle-blower Andrew Young with wife Cheri. Young’s attorneys turned over several items, including a tape marked “special” that purportedly shows John Edwards in a sexual encounter with Rielle Hunter. Young personally turned over a copy of the sex tape as well. But questions over whether there are more copies – and whether he tried to sell them – linger. “This is all disturbing to me, and it’s not a comfort to our client,” said Alan Duncan, an attorney for Rielle Hunter, who has said Young invaded her privacy. Conceding he had made some errors in previous sworn statements, Young maintains he has tried his best to detail the location of items Hunter is seeking. “I answered as honestly as I could,” he testified. He said Elizabeth Edwards threatened a lawsuit against him under the North Carolina statute that allows one to sue a third party for contributing to a marriage ending. A jilted spouse typically uses this to seek money from their partner’s lover. “We have powerful people coming at us,” said Young, who vowed to fight to prove he is not a liar (even if he is a proven liar). “Are we scared? Absolutely.” A spokeswoman for Elizabeth Edwards declined to comment.

Hailey Glassman on Jon Gosselin’s Penis: It’s Tiny!

Considering the shady exploitation of his children, and the flaunting of relationships so soon after separating from his wife, this seems impossible to believe. But Hailey Glassman swears it’s true: Jon Gosselin’s penis is even smaller than his capacity to care about anyone but himself. In a revealing interview with Steppin Out , the 23-year old does not speak favorably about her ex-boyfriend’s manhood. She says: “He was so small I didn’t think he would cheat on me… He’s hung like a nine-year-old boy. I’m serious. This is true.” How tiny does Hailey claim Jon measures? “3 inches.” The only thing funnier than Hailey Glassman’s statement on Jon Gosselin’s penis size? Her attempt to look sexy in this photo. Glassman and Gosselin didn’t exactly part ways in an amicable fashion, of course. They broke up in December and Hailey has many reasons to lie about the reality show dad’s minute girth, considering he’s moved on to Morgan Christie . Last month, Hailey warned Morgan to run far away from her new man, telling her replacement that Jon will likely screw her in the same way he screwed Glassman: with a tiny penis, and by taking her money .

Harold Ford’s Tennessee Tax Dodge

When it comes to his shadow run for Senate, Harold Ford is a New Yorker through and through. When it comes to paying taxes, though, he’s still a Tennessean — he’s never filed a New York return. Ford claims to have moved to New York three years ago, and says paying “New York taxes” makes him a New Yorker. But his spokeswoman confirms to Gawker that he’s never filed a New York tax return — meaning that he’s never paid New York’s income tax, despite keeping an office and a residence in New York City as a vice chairman of Merrill Lynch since 2007: “He pays New York taxes and will file a New York tax return in April for the first time,” Ford’s spokeswoman Tammy Sun told Gawker. “He will file all necessary personal disclosure and tax forms that candidates are required to file if he chooses to run.” (According to Sun, Ford admitted to the tax dodge yesterday at a press availability in Albany, but we can’t find any news accounts mentioning the remarks.) Ford has presumably chosen to instead file in his other home Tennessee, which conveniently has no income tax. Which means that, despite the fact that New York law requires part-time and nonresidents to pay income tax on money they earn in the state , Ford has shielded his entire Merrill Lynch salary from New York’s tax collectors for the past three years. In fact, it seems like Tennessee’s lack of an income tax may be the best explanation for Ford’s rather complicated two-state life since 2007 — he clearly wanted to live in New York, and married a woman in 2008 who did live in New York. But he made sure to keep a foot in a state whose tax code is friendly to rich guys like himself. When Merrill Lynch announced Ford’s hiring in 2007, it said he would be keeping offices in Nashville and New York City . Ford has said that he’s basically lived in New York since then, though he never technically lived here until last year since he didn’t “spend the requisite number of days” staying at his wife Emily Ford’s breathtakingly yellow apartment in the Flatiron district. (” Moved is such a legal term,” he told the New York Times ). Ford was clearly thinking of New York’s 184-day rule, which requires that part-time residents who spend 184 or more days living in the state pay New York taxes on all their income. What he seems to have forgotten is that New York has gone to great pains to prevent wealthy people like him from spending time and earning money in the state and then jetting off to a tax haven come April 15: It also requires nonresidents and people who live there fewer than 184 days to pay New York income taxes on whatever portion of their income they earned in the state. If Ford did enough business in New York to keep an office there, its reasonable to presume that he earned a good deal of money in New York. Now, we’re sure that there are all sorts of accountants’ arguments and narrow dodges at Ford’s disposal to claim that he didn’t owe New York income tax until he moved here last year: He could have been paid out of Merrill Lynch’s Nashville office, for instance, and he could have received the majority of his income in a bonus that he could claim he earned in Tennessee, not New York. But while those sorts of arguments may be useful to someone trying to get as close as possible to living in New York without suffering the tax consequences of doing so, they’re not as effective when you’re loudly thinking about running for Senate in New York by claiming you’ve lived there for three years and pay taxes there. So what taxes is Ford talking about, if he’s never paid income tax in New York? We’ve asked Sun, and haven’t heard back. The most pathetic (and, by our lights, likely) answer is New York City’s 8.875% sales tax, though Ford could also be talking about sharing in property taxes on Ford’s apartment, or paying quarterly estimated tax payments on his freelance income as an MSNBC talking head, which he might have started paying last year once he decided to break that 184-day barrier and commit to New York. Or perhaps he instructed Merrill Lynch to start withholding New York taxes from his salary when he established residency in 2009. And when precisely, did that happen, by the way? According to this Federal Election Committee filing recording a donation Ford made to Colorado Sen. Mike Bennet, he was still using his Memphis address as recently as September 29 of last year—98 days before he announced his interest in Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s seat.

Former President Bill Clinton Hospitalized

Clinton was rushed to the hospital after unidentified chest pains. By Jayson Rodriguez Former President Bill Clinton Photo: Larry Marano/ Getty Images Former President Bill Clinton was rushed to a New York hospital on Thursday afternoon (February 11) after suffering from unidentified chest pains, according to multiple reports. Clinton received a procedure where two stents were placed in his coronary arteries, CNN reported. The surgery was described as routine, and having two items placed in his arteries was characterized as “not unusual,” a doctor told CNN. CNN correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta said the speed in which the procedure took place, however, was enough to classify the incident as an emergency. Six years ago, Clinton suffered from serious heart trouble. In 2004, he underwent surgery for a quadruple coronary artery bypass; several months later, complications arose, which led Clinton to go back to the hospital for a minor follow-up procedure. According to The New York Times, Clinton’s pains stemmed from a bypass graft previously operated on becoming obstructed. He was then rushed to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and is now recovering; his wife, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, is on her way to meet her husband, CNN reported. “President Clinton is in good spirits and will continue to focus on the work of his foundation and Haiti’s relief and long-term recovery efforts,” Douglas J. Band, his counselor, said in a statement released by the former president’s office, according to the Times. Before Clinton rose the political ranks to become president, it was well documented that he has a weakness for fried foods, stemming from his Southern upbringing in Arkansas. Clinton was a frequent jogger and lost a noticeable amount of weight during and after his presidency. He also changed his diet after his surgery six years ago. Clinton leads just as active a lifestyle following his presidency as he did when he occupied the White House. His Clinton Global Initiative has been instrumental in the fight against the global AIDS crisis. The former president is also a U.N. special envoy to Haiti and recently visited the ravaged country following the earthquake that struck the tiny island. Clinton appeared at MTV’s “Hope for Haiti Now” and BET’s “SOS Save Ourselves: Help for Haiti” telethons, urging viewers to continue aiding the survivors of the 7.1-magnitude quake.

Report: Evander Holyfield Beats Wife For Not "Putting God First"

Sometimes, Christianity is subject to interpretation. Some believe the death penalty is immoral, for example; others feel it is the only just solution at times. Beating your wife because she isn’t “putting God first,” however? It’s hard to see a way in which Christ would justify that one. Sorry, Evander Holyfield. The former world heavyweight champ always made it clear he had no plans to retire from fighting – we just didn’t know he was referring to the bedroom! His current and third wife, Candi Holyfield, called the police after the couple got into a fight at their home last week. It all started because it was cold. No, seriously. She claims the heat was off in their Georgia mansion and as she took their kids to the bathroom in the night, she complained to Evander. “He told me I was only thinking about myself, and the children’s hearts beat faster,” she wrote in a court declaration seeking a restraining order against him. The “deeply religious” boxer accused her of being disrespectful to God when pulled the covers over her head, and said she needed to “start putting God first.” Maybe so, but come on, dude. You can afford to set the heat at 68. Holyfield refused to let up, asking his wife if she’d been tithing. He asked for check stubs of her payments to their church and after she refused … look out. Candi alleges Holyfield hit her in the face on the back of the head twice and on her back. She claims Holyfield hurt her before in the presence of their kids. Understandably, now Candi wants out . “She is fed-up with his womanizing and money troubles,” says a source. “She is working as a nurse and is now in the process of finding a new place to live.” The boxer, who was once married to Paulette Brown and then Dr. Janice Itson, claims he’s not earning as much as he once did. Eleven kids will do that. Three wives, 11 kids, multiple violent episodes. Talk about putting God first! Evander has not spoken with cops. He and Candi are due in court Feb. 18.

Kelly Bensimon to Expose Teeth, Buttocks and Clavicle in Playboy

When we initially heard Real Housewife Kelly Bensimon would be posing in Playboy , we asked the obligatory question: Do you wanna see her naked ? If you answered yes, however, we have troubling news: you won’t get a chance to. In a new interview with E! News, the 41-year old reality TV star said she drew the line at exposing her vagina. The reason? “I don’t think that part of a woman’s body is really evocative. The roundness of the hips, the buttocks, the breast, the shoulders, the clavicle, the hair, the teeth – those are things that I think are most evocative and provocative parts of the body. I don’t think it’s really necessary to show that .” We actually agree. (But if Brooklyn Decker wants to prove us wrong, feel free to bare it all, Mrs. Roddick.)

Will a New Baby Save Brangelina?

Just when you think you’ve heard everything, Life & Style sets another low (high?) in celebrity gossip reporting. Kudos to that fine supermarket publication. Apparently, the rough patch encountered by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is about to come to an end, for one very cute, cuddly reason: Brangelina Baby #7! That’s right! “Brad confirms” (no he doesn’t) that “another kid” is on the way (likely for his barber and his wife) in the new issue of this reputable tabloid. To think that just weeks ago, he was in love with Jennifer Aniston again. This guy makes some quick turnarounds regarding relationships and parenting. A baby will bring them closer together … the first six didn’t? Things like this particular story may be harmless enough, but do make you wonder how people buy these magazines or at least take them seriously in any way. Some of the more serious, slanderous allegations made over Brad and Angelina’s love life in recent weeks have actually resulted in a lawsuit by the hot couple. In news about them that’s actually true, Angelina Jolie is awesome . She’s visiting Haiti and donating obscene sums of money to their earthquake relief efforts. Bravo, Angie.

‘American Idol’ Thins The Herd On Group Day

Some early favorites are sent packing during the first group round. By Gil Kaufman Michael Lynche Photo: FOX As usual, chaos, quarreling and drama ruled on group night on “American Idol.” Wednesday’s show found the 95 remaining singers shoehorning themselves into unnatural combinations that mostly upped the already tension-filled pressure-cooker atmosphere as battle lines were drawn over choreography, harmony, personality and anything else worth arguing about. Tears were shed, fingers were pointed and lyrics were blown time and again as the groups spent the traditional sleepless night working on their steps and trying to find their groove as viewers’ heartstrings were pulled by big Michael Lynche monitoring his wife’s labor on his cell phone and listening as his daughter was born across the continent in New York. First up was the group named Faith, singing Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable” in near enough harmony to allow Charity Vance, Ashley Rodriguez and Michelle Delamor to advance even with Vance’s thin, squeaky high notes and spartan choreography. Lynche was up next with Team Awesome, singing the Temptations’ “Get Ready.” Country hunk Tim Urban did his part, as did Lynche, but the group’s other two members, third-timer Seth Rollins, a father of two, and Michael Castro, younger brother of Jason Castro , didn’t make the cut. For Castro it was strike two in the Hollywood round. Two groups chose to sing Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” and, fortunately for Team Neapolitan, they went first. While Liz Rooney’s platinum-blonde hair with pink highlights grabbed plenty of attention, her bum notes appeared to melt the group’s chances. But Thaddeus Johnson and Pussycat Dolls-alike Jessica Cunningham redeemed the quartet with strong vocals. “I actually thought in its own way that was very good,” Simon Cowell said, praising their effort to the chagrin of rival group Destiny’s Wild, who were miffed that Neapolitan seemingly stole their idea to do the song a cappella. Wild had nothing to worry about, as their strong vocals, acrobatic choreography and infectious energy won the day. Between Todrick Hall’s back-flipping gymnastics and soulful vocals, Theri and Jareb Liewer’s impassioned singing and Siobhan Magnus’ scratchy soul bark, Wild made it — just barely. “It really was weird,” new judge Ellen DeGeneres said, comparing their outfits to Cirque du Soleil, but ultimately putting them through. The Mighty Rangers struggled to get enough practice time, and while Tori Kelly and Maddie Penrose did their part on Ne-Yo’s “Closer,” the house fell down when Mark Labriola and Kimberly Kerbow both forgot the words, prompting DeGeneres to ask them to stop. Kelly and Penrose got good news, while a weepy Labriola, wiggy Kerbow and Danny Jones were sent home, with Labriola tearfully begging for one more chance in his last year of eligibility. Just moments before Phoenix took the stage, one member bolted because she couldn’t stand the pressure, leaving Ben Honeycutt, Jeff Goldford, Moorea Masa and Jermaine Sellers to solider on singing Kansas’ “Carry On Wayward Son.” It wasn’t great, with Kara comparing it to “Survivor” and Cowell saying their excuses weren’t cutting it. “The struggle was you had 12 hours to learn the song — that is not hardship,” he said. Gritty crooner Goldford and smooth singer Sellers got passes, while the other two were sent packing. Note to future “Idol” wannabes: don’t pick Gwen Stefani’s “The Sweet Escape,” because if you forget the lyrics and toss bum notes, you will fail. Stefani was not kind to Orlando auditioner Matt Lawrence, who spent four years in jail for robbing a bank when he was 15 or Amanda Shectman, who won the panel over at her audition with some drama-queen antics. Both bit it hard on “Escape,” forgetting the words and mumbling so unintelligibly that Cowell didn’t even let them finish. “There isn’t going to be any you stepping forward … it was so horrific,” he said, summarily dismissing the quartet. Middle C brought it with Janell Wheeler, Jermaine Purifory and pretty boy Casey James nailing their version of Ne-Yo’s “Closer,” while early front-runner Andrew Garcia lifted his group Three Men and a Baby higher, anchoring a solid performance of Alicia Keys’ “No One” that also featured soulful turns from 17-year-old Katie Stevens and recent high school grad J. B. Ahfua. The final group was The Dreamers, a five-piece that seemed to spend most of their time arguing. Rock mom Mary Powers started things off by throwing a nervous laugh into her intro on Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” which drew a harsh stare from Cowell. With lame choreography and thin vocals, things weren’t much better for Texas bartender Hope Johnson, tone-deaf waitress Margo May or nervous-looking Texas teen Alex Lambert. “It’s like the dream died somewhere on that stage,” DioGuardi quipped. Despite the drama, Powers, Johnson and Lambert made it through, joining the 68 other singers who made it to the next round. Hollywood continues next week in the wind-up to the choosing of the top 24. Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions.
