New ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Part 2’ Trailer Debuts

Latest trailer is both action-packed and full of emotion. By Kara Warner “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” Photo: Warner Bros. Wowza. Wow. Wowza. That is our instant reaction to the latest trailer for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” which just hit the Interwebs Thursday (June 16). Man oh man, is it a doozy. Even for those of us who’ve read the books over and over again and are fully prepared for what’s going to unfold when the film hits theaters on July 17, this latest trailer is so action-packed, so full of intensity and emotion, it’s almost too much to handle. Almost. The trailer opens with a distraught Lily Potter (Harry’s mom) speaking to her infant son. “Harry, be safe,” she says in a strained whisper. “Be strong.” Cut to the words “Every moment he’s lived has led to this,” before an eerie voiceover by evil Dark Lord Voldemort comes in over flashback scenes of key moments in several of the previous seven films. “Harry Potter, you have fought valiantly,” Voldemort sneers. “Now join me, and confront your fate.” From here on out, much like the action in the second half of J.K. Rowling’s seventh Potter book, things get very intense. There are flashes of Voldemort in several states of mind and presence, all of them ferocious and teeming with dark force. “You’ve kept him alive so he can die at the proper moment,” Snape says to him at one point. Cut to Harry, Ron and Hermione riding a dragon, continuing their dangerous quest for the final horcruxes that will help bring an end to the Dark Lord. This is followed by the beginning shots, or so it seems, of the epic battle royale at Hogwarts. Death eaters are surrounding the school, and Professor McGonagall orders the magical protectors of the school to come to life and protect them. What looks like the Dark Lord’s army is shown assembled outside the gates, ready to attack, while our favorite Potter protagonists are shown waiting anxiously inside the school. Suddenly the final battle is in full swing, wands slinging, wizards clashing, all of which can be very briefly summarized by these words: death and destruction. In the midst of all the madness, there are emotional moments that seem to show favorite characters preparing to meet certain death. One poignant moment occurs in a brief exchange between Harry and Snape, a character who has always mysteriously walked the line between good and evil. “Tell them how it happened that night,” Harry says angrily to Snape, before a flashback of Dumbledore’s death appears onscreen. “How you looked him in the eye, a man who trusted you, and killed him!” There is also a brief moment where Harry is surrounded by the ghostly presences of his loved ones, people like his mother and godfather Sirius Black. “You’ll stay with me?” Harry asks his illusory supporters. “Always,” answers his mother. “Until the end,” Black adds. The remaining seconds are all about action, action, action — specifically, the fight between Harry and Voldemort. “Come on, Tom, let’s finish this the way we started,” Harry says to Voldemort as they stand on the precipice of a cliff. “Together!” This is followed by more quick cuts of wand-wielding and explosions. And then Voldemort and Harry are shown battling once more, this time crawling towards one wand. “Only I can live forever,” Voldemort says with finality. ‘The League’ Stars Round Up Shocking Confessions At Bonnaroo

Paul Scheer, Nick Kroll and FX comedy co-stars hit the ground and turned up some of the most unbelievable festival stories. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Adam Murphy “The League” stars Jon Lajoie, Stephen Rannazzisi and Nick Kroll Photo: MTV News MANCHESTER, Tennessee — In theory, FX’s excellent original series “The League” is about fantasy football. But really, it’s about so much more: namely, the trials and tribulations of a group of friends, and their ongoing attempts to mess with each other’s lives. And that’s a sport that never goes out of season. During this past weekend’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival , four-fifths of the show’s stars — comedians Nick Kroll, Paul Scheer, Jon Lajoie and Stephen Rannazzisi — brought their mission to the masses, doing a pair of live sets in the fest’s Comedy Theatre … and those sets were heavy on the kind of good-natured provocation that has become the show’s calling card. So, in a lot of ways, it made sense to send the guys out into the fields of Bonnaroo, acre upon acre of shirtless dudes and blissed-out gals (some of whom also happen to be shirtless). In other words, it’s a place overflowing with folks who are in need of a good messing with. With the sun beating down on our heads, we boarded a golf cart and let the cameras roll, watching in near disbelief as the four comics chatted up guys in Speedos and capes, bandana-clad ladies, a slightly terrified child and exactly one gentleman who admitted to an ongoing affair with a married woman. The goal, as the guys would later tell us, was to create a sort of “Bonnaroo Taxi Cab Confessions ,” only, you know, in a golf cart. It was, to say the very least, a slightly amazing shoot (click the embedded video to see for yourself). So without further ado, we’re proud to present the cast of “The League” in all their comedic glory … running wild over the vast expanses of the ‘Roo, messing with complete strangers every step of the way. You Can’t Be Serious…Faux News Host Is Distrubed By The “Hoodlums” That President Obama Is Inviting To The White “Hizzy”

The idea that people actually defend this kind of BS says a lot about where we are today in society… During the opening of Fox Business’ Follow the Money on Friday, Eric Bolling teased a segment about the White House hosting the president of Gabon by saying, “Guess who’s coming to dinner? A dictator. Mr. Obama shares a laugh with one of Africa’s kleptocrats. It’s not first time he’s had a hoodlum in the hizzouse.” The inclusion of Common may not make much sense to people who aren’t regular viewers of Fox News — it’s a reference to the right-wing media’s ginned-up smear of him as a “‘cop killer’ rapper” in the days before his recent performance at the White House. Later in the show, Bolling teased the segment again: “Smile for the birdie. Our president’s sitting with one of Africa’s most wanted. It’s not the first time he’s had a hood in the big crib.” In one of the more blatantly racist and offensive part of the program there was this little condescending slang exchange: During the segment, Human Events editor Jason Mattera declared that “Barack Obama likes to defecate on American allies,” and Bolling had this exchange with Fox Business reporter Sandra Smith: REP. JOHN GARAMENDI (D-CA): There are good guys. There are bad guys out there. We’ve got to stay engaged. SMITH: We don’t have to have them at home, though. BOLLING: Thank you, Smitty. SMITH: We don’t have to have them in our White House and entertaining them. BOLLING: Where? Where? Where? Go ahead, say it. Where? SMITH: In the hizzy. BOLLING: In the hizzy. Thank you, Smitty. SMITH: Do we really have to have them in the White Hizzy? Who do these son-of-b*tches think they are fooling?! This guy Bolling swore he wasn’t a racist after claiming that our President was “chugging 40s”, and now the way he uses the word “hizzy” he might as well just call the POTUS his n*gga! In the words of the great American musician Kanye West: “F*ckin’ ridiculous…” Source

Ginger Lee, Anthony Weiner Gal Pal, Hires Gloria Allred to Combat Threats

The saga of Anthony Weiner and his stable of online friends continues to grow more ridiculous by the moment. Here’s the latest: Ginger Lee, a porn star who says the Congressman coached her through the scandal as it broke, has hired attention-loving attorney Gloria Allred to represent her against a series of mysterious threats. Protecting her client from whatever may be released in the future, Allred told TMZ this morning: “Ms. Lee has asked me to issue this statement, because an individual has threatened her with a release of another statement which purports to be from her, but which she has not authorized. “Ginger would like it to be known that she has not authorized any person, except me, her attorney, to issue statements on her behalf. Any unauthorized statement may contain inaccuracies and should be viewed with suspicion and not published.” In other words: some dude is about to reveal explosive information about Lee and she’s trying to stay ahead of it. Do Foo Fighters Know Robert Pattinson From Robert Plant?

During band’s rehearsal break for Sunday’s Movie Awards, we put Foos to the test. By Ryan J. Downey The Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Hard rock, heavy metal, hardcore and punk have long gone hand-in-hand with evil wizards, magic, vampires and werewolves. And with a collective sub-cultural pedigree that includes stints in the Germs, No Use for a Name, Sunny Day Real Estate, Scream and some band called Nirvana, you’d think the Foo Fighters — set to perform at Sunday’s Movie Awards — would know their “Potter” from their Zeppelin. Certainly they can recognize a “wand” reference and pinpoint its origin? Right? Before we put MTV News’ magically crafted trivia to the band, it seemed safe to assume the Foos would accurately distinguish between the words of Harry Potter, a “Twilight” character and Led Zeppelin. But was their underground nerd cred blown to shreds? Read on — and click the video! — to see how the Foo Fighters fared when we caught up with them on the Universal Studios lot, shortly after they finished rehearsing their Movie Awards performance. Our own Jim Cantiello played dungeon master as Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear were given a series of semi-famous lines and asked whether they originated with “Harry Potter,” the “Twilight Saga” or the lyrics of hard-rock pioneers Led Zeppelin. Here’s a sampling of a few of those one-liners:

‘Hangover Part II’: The Reviews Are In!

‘The stock dismissal ‘more of the same’ has rarely been more accurately applied to a sequel,’ one reviewer writes. By Eric Ditzian Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis in “The Hangover Part II” Photo: Warner Bros. By this point, if anyone is still doubting whether “The Hangover Part II” will be a massive worldwide hit, Wednesday’s midnight screenings should quiet skeptics. Warner Bros. announced that the follow-up to 2009’s record-smashing hit roped in $10.4 million in those early showings, setting a new midnight opening record for an R-rated film on its way to what many are predicting will become a $125 million opening over the five-day holiday weekend. All this box-office talk gets even more impressive when you note reviews for the film have been decidedly mixed. While the first “Hangover” won over both critics and moviegoers, the sequel is currently languishing at just a 31 percent approval at the Rotten Tomatoes review aggregator. Critics have pointed out how the second film follows the plot points of the original far too closely. They’ve also argued that the sequel simply isn’t as funny as the first. Other reviews, however, are still getting a kick out of watching the Wolf Pack flail and fail all over again, similarities are not. Read on for a deep dive into the “Hangover Part II” reviews: The Story ” ‘The Hangover Part II’ opts for the most popular cure: the hair of the dog that bit it. In other words, the sequel is almost identical to the first ‘Hangover.’ This time, dweeby Stu (Ed Helms), slick Phil (Bradley Cooper) and attention sponge Alan (Zach Galifianakis) are at a wedding (Stu’s) in Thailand, instead of Las Vegas, but the rest is pretty much the same. The movie starts with the three waking up after a night of debauchery, with one of their pals missing, with a threatening crook on their tails and with vague knowledge of peccadilloes both sexual and chemical. Oh, and Mike Tyson is tangentially involved (Stu has a facial tattoo just like the former champ’s). They spend the rest of the movie trying to make it to the wedding while piecing together clues to what happened the previous night and searching desperately for their missing bud.” — Chris Hewitt, St. Paul Pioneer Press The Laughs “[The] laughs aren’t just staged, they’re superlatively engineered — even if that means, at moments, that they feel like they’re falling into formatted slots. When they don’t, the movie can be flat-out hilarious. As the guys begin their desperate search for a missing bank account number (they have to give it to a drug lord or he’ll kill them), it’s no surprise to discover that they went to a Bangkok strip bar. And when we learn what happened in that club to Stu — who hasn’t shaken his tendency to fall drunkenly head over heels in love with hookers — you may see the twist coming, but you won’t foresee the casual outrageousness of the dialogue, the kind that keeps on giving. Yet that sort of choke-on-your-popcorn laugh is more the exception than the rule.” — Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly The Performances “Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis slide into their roles as if they didn’t go on to play other characters in the interim, although at least two of the three (Helms being the exception) have seen significant career upticks. Phil is the good-looking leader, Stu is the worry-wart nerd, and Alan is quite possibly the most loathsome individual to have crawled out from under a rock. He’s not a loveable loser; he’s a detestable loser — and that’s where a lot of the comedy comes from. Galifianakis stole the show in ‘The Hangover,’ and he steals it here. Refreshingly, [director Todd] Phillips does not feel the need to give Alan a heroic moment of redemption.” — James Berardinelli, ReelViews The Comparison “The stock dismissal ‘more of the same’ has rarely been more accurately applied to a sequel than to ‘The Hangover Part II,’ which ranks as little more than a faded copy of its predecessor superimposed on a more brightly colored background. One can understand director Todd Phillips’ initial reluctance to tinker with a formula that made the 2009 romp the highest-grossing R-rated comedy ever, but the rote professionalism on display verges on cynicism, and despite some occasional sparks, this ranks as a considerable disappointment. Box office should be huge all the same.” — Andrew Barker, Variety The Final Word That comfortable air of familiarity provided by the returning characters also extends to many of the original’s more inspired bits — but to less potent effect. Still, even a milder ‘Hangover’ manages to deliver more laughs than most of the competition. … In addition to that hard-to-replicate element of surprise, also in short supply here is the manic energy that made the original such a delightfully unpredictable ride. The reunited cast looks to have been up for a greater challenge, especially gonzo Galifianakis, who emerged as the breakout star of the first ‘Hangover.’ ” — Michael Rechtshaffen, The Hollywood Reporter Check out everything we’ve got on “The Hangover Part II.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green Sing ‘Crazy’ In ‘The Voice’ Preview

Extended sneak peek of reality singing competition aired before Thursday’s ‘Tonight Show.’ By Gil Kaufman Christina Aguilera Photo: Isaac Brekken/ Getty Images It’s been almost impossible to avoid the avalanche of promotion for NBC’s new reality singing competition, “The Voice.” From splashy magazine ads to endless TV promos and interviews with the show’s four celebrity coaches, the show has been getting a full-court blitz in the lead-up to Tuesday night’s premiere. The biggest push to date occurred Thursday night, when a 12-minute teaser aired before “The Tonight Show,” highlighted by an all-star performance of the Gnarls Barkley smash “Crazy” by the four judges. With Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine on drums, country star Blake Shelton on guitar and Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green adding their pristine vocals to the song that made Green a superstar, each member of the quartet brought their patented brand of star power to the pop summit. Aguilera, of course, indulged in some of her R&B diva melisma, Green his deep soul growl, Shelton a bit of country grit and Levine some surprisingly sharp drum chops. The studio audience went crazy as host Carson Daly explained the unique concept behind the show, which will have the coaches listening with their backs turned to singers vying to be their prot
