Rick Ross Responds To Young Jeezy Taunts

‘If you really have an issue, put it on the table and handle it like a G,’ Miami Don says after Jeezy dis video surfaces online. By Alvin Blanco Rick Ross Photo: Moses Robinson/ Getty Images Rick Ross and Young Jeezy and are not on the best of terms. The two heavyweight rappers, who happen to be Def Jam labelmates, have been immersed in a war of words for months now and the tension seems to be boiling over. The latest in the Ross vs. Jeezy imbroglio was triggered after video surfaced on the Net showing Young Jeezy saying sly remarks about his rival after a performance in Miami. In the footage Jeezy is seen walking the streets of MIA with an entourage in tow. Asked how he feels “about the Rick Ross thing,” the Atlanta MC sarcastically responds, “Where is your favorite rapper at? I don’t see that n—a.” Moments later, Jeezy pulls his shirt up to reveal he has a gun on his waistband. Although he never names the Miami rapper by name, it’s easy to infer the jabs are directed at Ross. The Teflon Don MC was recently in the U.K., where he visited the BBC’s Tim Westwood , and the topic of Jeezy’s rant came up. “Man, I actually got to see the footage of him walking on South Beach, down Collins Ave. and … Yeah, he played himself,” Ross said. “You gotta come across the bridge to Carol City to Lil Haiti, that’s where you get your issues. I mean, Washington Ave.? Give me a break, baby.” Ross continued, “What’s crazy about that is, as you can see on that same footage, when they asked about my name, they still don’t really have a direct answer, and that ain’t gangster at all. If you really have an issue, put it on the table and handle it like a G.” The two rappers have at times downplayed any beef between them. Rick Ross’ anthemic summer hit “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” name-checks Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory on its chorus. (The leader of the infamous Black Mafia Family, or BMF, Flenory is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence.) But Jeezy’s association with BMF pre-dates his rise to hip-hop prominence. And there was speculation that Ross’ track didn’t sit well with Jeezy, who in turn dropped “Death B4 Dishonor,” widely believed to be a shot at Ross. Jeezy, however, denied it was a dis track. The two MCs are no strangers to rap beef — Jeezy has previously sparred with Gucci Mane, and Ross with 50 Cent. What do you make of the tension between Jeezy and Ross? Ice Cube Explains Dr. Dre’s I Am The West Absence

‘I don’t feel bad, because Snoop can’t find him either,’ Cube laughs. By Jayson Rodriguez Ice Cube Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — Ice Cube might rep the West on his new album, appropriately titled I Am the West, but the legendary Left Coast rapper is missing one important link: Dr. Dre. The former N.W.A groupmates weren’t able to connect on Cube’s project, slated for release independently September 21. Ice Cube said his and Dre’s schedules weren’t able to align. “I didn’t get a chance to work with Dre on this record,” Cube told MTV News from Skyline Studios in Manhattan, where he previewed his album for press. “He’s been M.I.A. for two to three months now. But I don’t feel bad, because Snoop can’t find him either,” he laughed. “I think, really, it’s because people expect so much from him,” he continued. “People expect, when Dre does a record, it [will] change the trajectory of music. Not just be an album and it come out and be good. It has to come and take us in a different direction. And that’s a lot of pressure.” Cube was able to recruit a stable of upstart producers and chart-toppers like Bangladesh (Lil Wayne, Beyonc

Young Jeezy Made ‘Jizzle’ ‘For My Fans’

‘Lil Jon was the extra spice to give it a different feel,’ he says of TM103 first single. By Jayson Rodriguez Young Jeezy Photo: Prince Williams/Getty Images Young Jeezy is set to release TM103 in September, and while the Atlanta rapper said he plans to step out of his usual box on the LP, for the first official single, “Jizzle,” he kept to his comfort zone. ” ‘Jizzle’ was my formula,” Jeezy told MTV News about the Lil Jon-featured track. “It’s like the music that I wanna hear when I’m in the club. I did that for my fans, before I even step out of my box, which I will for this album, as far as singles I wanted to do what I do. What comes to heart to me. And when I hear that [song], that’s Jeezy, that’s ‘Jizzle.’ Lil Jon was just the extra spice to give it a little different feel so it wouldn’t just be a Jeezy record. Jeezy is scheduled to deliver at least one mixtape before his album arrives: 1,000 Grams, Vol. 1, with DJ Scream, will drop online on Thursday. The first track from that collection, “Death B4 Dishonor,” arrived earlier this week and led to speculation the rapper was attacking labelmate Rick Ross in rhyme. On the song, Jeezy appears to be taking offense at Ross’ single “(B.M.F.) Blowin’ Money Fast,” on which the Miami rapper shouts out a notorious criminal organization that Jeezy has had some association with. While the lyrics appear to be directed at Ross, Jeezy spoke to MTV News on Tuesday and refuted the rumblings. “It’s not a dis,” Jizzle told us. “First of all, I’m not gonna get nothing out of dissing that guy. That’s one. What am I gonna get out of dissing him? I think sometimes people can read into things too deep. They trippin’, man. They crazy out there. Basically, if homie takes that as a dis, he’s insecure.” Are you excited to hear the rest of Jeezy’s mixtape this week? Tell us in the comments! Related Artists Young Jeezy

Drake Drops New Verse On ‘Lose My Mind’ Remix At BET Awards

Drizzy references Thank Me Later first-week sales in spankin’ new verse during performance with Young Jeezy. By Mawuse Ziegbe Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images Drake wasted no time celebrating his stellar first-week sales, dropping a new verse to Young Jeezy’s “Lose My Mind” at the 2010 BET Awards. The Toronto MC was joined by the hip-hop snowman and the duo rocked a version of Jeezy’s single. Jeezy rose from a platform beneath the stage during the last portion of Drizzy’s set, in a white jacket with buckles, and launched into the first verse of the steely track. Initially it appeared the superstar MC, who had already won the award for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist earlier in the night, was content to fall back and let Jeezy rock, chiming in here and there. But it wouldn’t be Drizzy if he didn’t come hard with the lyricism. Jeezy hollered “Remix!” as Drake spit a new verse which referenced the incredible first-week numbers of his debut, Thank Me Later, which dropped on June 15: “You say you like it like that/ I think I like it too/ Half a million in a week/ It’s only right I do.” The new verse followed a varied performance from Drizzy, who kicked off his set with a quiet rendition of his Thank Me Later opener, “Fireworks.” Then sporting a dark letterman’s jacket, Drizzy descended from his platform and launched into an amped-up version of “Over,” spitting the lyrics with fiery abandon. The performance was another highlight in a big night for Drake who was up for three awards and already beat out MCs like Jay-Z and Ludacris for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist. The set also marked a triumphant return to the BET Awards for the MC who was confined to a stool during last year’s performance after tearing his ACL What did you think of Drake and Jeezy’s performance? Roscoe Dash Films ‘Have-Fun, Wild-Out’ Video For ‘Show Out’

MC says Chris Brown tried to get on the summertime single. By Mawuse Ziegbe Roscoe Dash Photo: MTV News Atlanta hip-hop star Roscoe Dash burst on the scene with his crunk-rock party-starter “All the Way Turnt Up.” However, the rising rapper said his latest single, “Show Out,” will really turn things up this summer. ” ‘Turnt Up’ was kind of like my get-your-foot-in-the-door record and video, and I kinda, like, put that motivational message into ‘Turnt Up,’ ” Dash told MTV News. “But ‘Show Out’ is kinda like that have-fun, wild-out, it’s-the-summertime, do-what-you-want-to-do type of record.” The video — which features images of Dash holding court among an array of flashy cars and bikes and riding a jet ski mixed with scenes of beach babes frolicking along the shore — was apparently as fun to shoot as it looks. “It didn’t even seem like we were shooting a video,” Dash said. “It really was like we was just out there having fun and the cameras just happened to be there.” With its visual smorgasbord of summertime stuntin’, Dash hopes “Show Out” will be a classic warm-weather clip. “The video is going to speak for itself, I think, because we got a lot of summertime things going on. Hopefully it’ll be the video of the summer and next summer and the summer after that.” Dash — whose debut album, Ready Set Go!, is scheduled to drop mid-summer — also revealed that R&B star Chris Brown initially tried to get on “Show Out.” “I was like, ‘Man, don’t even worry about the “Show Out” record,’ because we not gonna push a remix until it’s peaked anyway. It’s gonna take time for all of that,” Roscoe said. “I’d rather get something that’s gonna be quick that we can go ahead and throw out there early.” Dash said a Brown collabo will make the album. “He put something together for me, and when I went out to L.A., I did my thing on it and made magic.” Ready Set Go! is also set to include a collabo with hip-hop titan Young Jeezy and super-producer Polow Da Don. Rick Ross, Monica Join Atlanta’s Birthday Bash Lineup

Plies, Ludacris already announced for Hot 107.9’s show on June 19. By Shaheem Reid Monica Photo: J Records Hot 107.9 in Atlanta continued to announce names for their annual Birthday Bash concert , taking place on June 19. A couple of weeks ago, the station trumpeted the names of Plies and Ludacris as their initial two performers — and on Thursday (April 29), a couple of more names on the roster were revealed. Holding it down for Miami will be Rick Ross, and bringing the hometown heat onstage will be A-Town’s own Monica. Ross is heavily in the process of promoting his forthcoming LP Teflon Don, while Monica basking in the success of her Still Standing LP , which debuted at #2 on the Billboard albums chart earlier this month. “It’s weird to me that people don’t recognize there’s room for new and old,” Monica said of those who were surprised by the album’s success. “For me, it was really weird because I’m 29 years old. To be written off by some was really mind boggling. I think that the album title has a lot to do with what was happening right now, even though that’s not the way I initially meant it. When I said ‘Still Standing,’ I meant personally — just being victorious and talking about personal triumphs, so it motivates the next person that might be going through it. After some of the things I read when I would say my album is coming — and you would have negative feedback — it felt so strange to me because I’m so young and have so much ahead of me.” The Birthday Bash Concert is set for June 19 at Atlanta’s Philips Arena. More names will be announced in the coming weeks. Related Photos Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Mary J. Drake, Nicki Minaj Talk Jay-Z And Lil Wayne At Madison Square Garden

‘It was the stuff that dreams are made of,’ Minaj says of appearing on the stage with Jay-Z and her Young Money boss. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by MTV News staff Drake Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Lil Wayne and his Young Money cohorts Drake and Nicki Minaj stormed the stage at Madison Square Garden two weeks ago for a guest turn during Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 Tour . The Roc Nation head called the spot “fantastic.” Turns out, Drake and Nicki Minaj thought so too. Young Jeezy, who welcomed the trio to his set, first introduced Nicki Minaj to thunderous applause. The Queens native said that prior to the concert, she and everyone else in Wayne’s camp were spending time with the rapper after he learned he had an extra day of freedom. Lil Wayne was scheduled to turn himself in to begin his prison stint that afternoon. A fire at the courthouse , however, prevented Wayne’s sentencing. With some time to kill, the crew got a phone call to put the plans in motion. “We were just talking to Wayne and he was being his crazy self,” Nicki told MTV News. “I got a call from Gee [Wayne’s co-manager and former executive at Roc-A-Fella] and the first name I heard was Jay-Z and I thought, ‘There’s no way Jay-Z approved me to be on this show.’ And I was like, ‘Do I want to?’ I’m on the next thing, smoking. I canceled meeting that day and the next day. “Madison Square Garden? I’m from New York,” she continued. “This means the world to me — to be there with Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and Drake. It was the stuff that dreams are made of for a girl. Girls aren’t usually in those unique little circles.” Drake heaped praise on his boss, Lil Wayne, for sharing his extra day (that turned into an extra week) with his fans. “It was a moment where people thought Wayne had gone in and the surprise was he had an extra day, and a selfless individual came out and showed up for the people of New York,” Drake told MTV News. “The city he got convicted in, of all places. It was a great night.” The “Best I Ever Had” MC even joked about violating Jay-Z’s all-black dress code that was set for the festivities. “That’s just who I am,” Drake said, laughing about his all-white getup. “Young Angel.” Related Videos Nicki Minaj And Drake Speak On Their Surprise Blueprint 3 Show Related Artists Drake Nicki Minaj

Lil Wayne’s Jail Time Is An ‘Eye-Opener,’ Young Jeezy Says

‘It’s evident that nobody’s safe,’ Lloyd Banks says about rappers not being above the law. By Shaheem Reid Lil Wayne at court Monday Photo: Ray Tamarra/ Getty Images Now that Lil Wayne has been sentenced to one year in prison following several delays, the reality is setting in for his fans and friends. No one in the hip-hop community wants to see Weezy leave, and rappers also realize they need to run tighter ships in Wayne’s absence. Young Jeezy said he’ll not only miss Wayne’s work ethic and music, but also his friend’s rebellious attitude. “Wayne, like I like to call myself, is a trap-aholic,” Young Jeezy told MTV News last week in New York, hours before he brought Weezy onstage at Madison Square Garden as a surprise guest during Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 Tour. That performance — which also included Nicki Minaj and Drake — would be Wayne’s last before he went to jail. “He stays in the studio, he stays working,” the Snowman added. “We’ll definitely miss that. At the same time, we’ll definitely miss what he brings to the game as far as him just being Wayne and doing what the f— he wanna do. We definitely gonna miss that. But it’s just an eye-opener to all of us. Instead of targeting the hustlers and the people trying to make it in the streets, now that the streets is dried up, now [the police] are targeting the entertainers and the athletes, what have you. Real talk, not trying to preach to the choir, we gotta be careful out here. What I mean to my culture is more than me proving a point.” Diddy echoed Jeezy’s sentiment that police are keeping a very close eye on the hip-hop community. “I think we gonna miss a certain energy that Wayne has,” Diddy said. “The beauty about it is, he’ll be back, and hopefully he’ll come back a better person. Whenever we get in trouble, we’re in the public spotlight. So hopefully there’s a lot of kids out there who could learn from any mistakes that we may have put ourselves in, even if we’re not guilty of the crime sometimes. We are human. People have to learn: ‘Make sure you know where you’re going, who you riding with, what the situation is.’ We’re targets. I’m just happy he doesn’t have to do a lot of time and that he’ll be out, and hopefully he’ll use the time wisely and use it in a positive way.” “It’s evident that nobody’s safe. That’s reality,” Lloyd Banks added about rappers not being above the law, with Lil Wayne going to jail on the heels of T.I. and Gucci Mane. Banks himself has an assault case pending in Canada. “People make mistakes, have poor judgments sometimes, and things happen. Hopefully, all those artists can bounce back from it stronger and use that time [in jail] to be more creative. Come back home and get right back to where they was at. It’s something that’s always been around. We been talking about [rappers going to jail] since Tupac.” Related Videos Wayne Goes To Jail: Celebs React Related Photos Lil Wayne’s Battle With His Gun Possession Case Related Artists Young Jeezy Lil Wayne
