With performances and award presentations streamed from all over the world, the digital awards show recognized “about every gigabyte of music activity known to man,” according to hosts (and rock duo) Matt and Kim. The pair hosted the show from Vegas’ famed Fremont Street and kicked off the O Music Awards with a two-song set before introducing Cee Lo Green, who logged online to present the Most Innovative Artist Award to Lady Gaga. Gaga, who, according to Cee Lo, did “the best job saying ‘f— you’ to rules,” graciously accepted the O cube along with the award for Must Follow Artist on Twitter and told her following, “To all the monsters watching, surge on.” Chiddy Bang’s Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege used the O Music Awards as a platform to successfully beat the nine hour and 16 minute “Longest Freestyle Rap” Guinness World Record with a time of nine hours, 18 minutes and 22 seconds. He celebrated the feat by debuting his brand-new single “No One Like Me” to the Vegas crowd, complete with Mr. T, Kiss, Bret Michaels and Pee-wee Herman impersonators. Performances by Lupe Fiasco and Foster the People were neatly laced into the awards show, but the topper was Mumford & Sons, along with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show’s Austin, Texas, hoedown. Although he wasn’t nominated for any awards, Justin Bieber inadvertently became a star of the show when Lil B’s “Justin Bieber” video was shown, pumping up fans for the Best NSFW Video Award that went to 30 Seconds to Mars’ “Hurricane.” Accepting the award in a bathroom (as they are currently on tour), Jared Leto seemed genuinely excited and thanked fans for the support. Alex Goot, who won Best Fan Cover Award for his rendition of Britney Spears “Hold It Against Me,” followed up his win by singing a sweet and softly sung cover of “Don’t Let Me Fall” by B.o.B. Obviously no online awards show would be complete without the presence of pop-culture wunderkind Rebecca Black, who started her weekend early by “holding it down” at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino to host the Fan Army Party. ‘That’s him seeing Mobb Deep’s life through his eyes,’ Havoc tells MTV News about P’s new memoir. By Rob Markman Mobb Deep’s Havoc Photo: MTV News While rappers Capone and Noreaga are taking exception to Prodigy’s new book, “My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy,” Havoc has come to the defense of his longtime partner in rhyme. “That’s him seeing Mobb Deep’s life through his eyes,” Havoc told us on Tuesday (April 26). Last week, in an exclusive interview with MTV News, N.O.R.E. questioned Prodigy’s motivation for writing about an incident in which, after N.O.R.E. was jumped by members of Mobb Deep’s entourage, Noreaga shot an associate of the group’s crew in retaliation. “Why would you bring up something where your man got shot?” Nore asked. Havoc sees things differently. “Things that happened with [Prodigy] personally, that’s just his spin on it, that’s his take. I don’t think that anybody should get emotional because that’s how he sees it,” he said. Prodigy also wrote about an incident detailing how Havoc shot a Def Jam employee in the record company’s Manhattan offices. While Hav hasn’t read the book, he did shed light on the shooting and pretty much corroborated Prodigy’s version of the story. “Something happened where I was messing around with a gun and shot somebody by accident. Actually, he was like a manger of mine,” Havoc recalled. “I believe D.M.C. [of Run-D.M.C.] was there and I had tried to bounce. Next thing you know, [A Tribe Called Quest member] Ali Shaheed Muhammad is like, ‘Don’t go nowhere. You gonna make it worse.’ ” Hav was arrested, but later cleared of the charges after the victim testified that the shooting was an accident, according to the autobiography. As far as whether he plans to read “My Infamous Life,” Havoc said he’s in no rush. “I don’t really have to read the book. At some point I will, but everything in there I know. Most Innovative Music Video award will be handed out live Monday at 4 p.m. ET during online roundtable. By MTV News staff Taylor Momsen Photo: Ian Gavan/Getty Images The O Music Awards are almost upon us, and while the actual awards show doesn’t premiere until next Thursday, the first O Music Award for Most Innovative Music Video will be presented Monday at 4 p.m. ET after some spirited debate from acclaimed video director Wayne Isham, Mashable’s Brenna Ehrlich and MTV News’ James Montgomery. As part of MTV News’ countdown to the interactive event — fans can still vote for their favorite boundary-pushing, genre-expanding clip over at the O Music Awards site — we’ve been asking celebs to describe what innovation means to them. “It’s something that definitely is unique, that utilizes either new media or new technologies,” said pro skater Tony Hawk. “It’s something that keeps you interested, all the way through,” “Gossip Girl” actress and Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen added. Rob Sheffield from Rolling Stone said “innovative” doesn’t mean expensive or flashy. “It’s not the budget, it’s not the effects; it’s the pizzazz the star is actually bring to the camera,” he said. Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege of Chiddy Bang said innovation is about being different. “Just trying to be unconventional,” he said. “You say, ‘What’s unconventional?’ It’s just doing something that isn’t really done.” On Monday morning, the original list of 10 nominees will be whittled down to the top five vote-getters, and then, during the debate, our roundtable and the Internet audience will cut that list down to the final three. Still-untitled imprint will be under the Cash Money umbrella. After dropping debut albums from both Drake and Nicki Minaj in 2010, YMCMB have artists Tyga, Lil Twist, Cory Gunz, Mack Maine, Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda and R&B alternative singer Shanell all waiting to drop LPs. Add already-established acts such as Birdman, Bow Wow and Lil Wayne to the mix, and it’s easy to see how some artists on the roster can get lost in the shuffle. Well, Young Money president Mack Maine has a plan to ensure fans see a steady flow of Cash Money-helmed releases. “You know how Roc-A-Fella had State Property; I’m actually in the process of starting a new label … a sub-label, basically,” Mack said of the still-untitled imprint that he will head under the Cash Money umbrella. Wayne is scheduled to drop Tha Carter IV on June 21, and there are plans for Birdman’s fifth solo album, Bigger Than Life , to follow in July. And, that isn’t all: According to the YM prez, Tyga will be dropping Careless World this year, Lil Twist will be putting out his first effort, Don’t Get it Twisted , and Drake is readying his sophomore LP, Take Care . “[Drake] let me hear 10 songs the other night — 10 bangers he’s working,” Mack said. “Drake’s coming in September, just know that.” Not to be left out, Mack himself also will be releasing an album this summer. With at least six projects already on the proposed schedule, the New Orleans rapper/executive said adding a third label to the YMCM structure will help facilitate the flow of releases. “I want to make sure I put a few people out through that vessel instead of putting everybody out under the same label, which is hard,” he said. “But we’re all one big family.” Which Young Money Cash Money project are you most excited for? At a preliminary hearing, judge also rules that the alleged necklace theft was in violation of Lohan’s probation. By MTV News staff Lindsay Lohan arrives for court in Los Angeles, on April 22, 2011 Photo: Toby Canham/ Getty Images Lindsay Lohan received some slightly good news today: Her original felony charge stemming from the alleged theft of a $2,500 necklace back in January was reduced to a misdemeanor. The problem-plagued actress will still have to stand trial, as Judge Stephanie Sautner ruled that the theft was in violation of Lohan’s probation . According to TMZ , the reduced charge indicates that Lohan will not face jail time; the punishment will be determined after the verdict in the trial. The Associated Press reports that, in reducing the charge, Sautner said she was giving the actress “an opportunity.” The misdemeanor still has a potential penalty of a year in jail. Late last month, Lohan turned down a plea deal offered by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office after being told by Judge Keith Schwartz that had she accepted the DA’s deal — reportedly six months of jail time — she would have been found in violation of her probation and could serve more time. Lohan allegedly lifted a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, California, jewelry store on January 22. The owner reported the theft to the Los Angeles Police Department, which later investigated the accusation and presented evidence to the District Attorney’s office. Up until Judge Sautner’s ruling, the actress had been officially charged with one count of felony grand theft and faced up to three years in prison. Singer took to Facebook to share 50-second teaser that shows Mr. Schuester giving New Directions Gaga assignment. But this time, the New Directions gang will not only pay tribute to the pop star, they’ll also embrace themselves in an episode devoted to self-acceptance. Lady Gaga took to her Facebook on Friday (April 22) and premiered a clip from the highly anticipated episode, which airs Tuesday. In the preview, Mr. Schuester tells the club they’ll be performing songs of self-love, including a group number of the singer’s hit “Born This Way.” Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) kicks off the 50-second teaser by asking Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) why Ms. Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) is attending their glee club meeting. Schuester tells the students that the guidance counselor will be helping out with the weekly assignment. “Now, this is the only club at school that is represented by just about every race, religion, sexual orientation and clique, but many of are you are still having a hard time with acceptance,” he says. Despite rebuttals from the students, the club director explains that while they may embrace one another, they still don’t accept themselves — for all of their good and bad qualities. Mr. Schuester then reveals the two-part assignment: singing tunes of self-acceptance that highlight their best and worst aspects, as well as performing “Born This Way.” “We’re going to do a group number by the queen of self-love, Gaga. We’re going to perform her anthem to acceptance, ‘Born This Way,’ ” he tells the students, who break into cheers and applause. Back in January, “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy opened up about why he chose to feature the hit song in the episode, which has been super-sized to 90 minutes . “I love that that song is [an] anthem,” Murphy told Entertainment Weekly. “This show is by nature optimistic, and I think a character like Karofsky could turn to booze or pills or alcohol and kill themselves or do something dark. But I also love Max [Adler, the actor] and I love that character and I sorta want that character to have a happy ending. ‘There is a market for what I do and what I can do,’ latest castoff says. By Gil Kaufman Stefano Langone Photo: FOX You have not seen the last of “American Idol” finalist Stefano Langone . Actually, based on what the seventh-place finisher said Friday (April 22) in a call with reporters, you may not have even seen the first of him. In between moments of comparing himself to icons such as Stevie Wonder, John Legend and Justin Timberlake, self-proclaimed “lucky number seven” contestant Langone explained that he purposely held back on “Idol” because he wanted to save some of his patented special “swag” for his fans to hear on his debut album. “It’s hard to really show your chops on the show,” he said. “One thing I wanted to save and keep close to myself was my original music and my piano playing. That’s something that I want to bring out and really show the world, and I think it will be very, very special.” Saying that he purposely chose to not showcase his full range of talent on the program, Langone said he has big plans to carve a unique lane in the vein of Justin Timberlake and John Legend by playing piano, writing his own material and collaborating with rappers. “Right now, there is a market for what I do and what I can do,” Langone said when asked how he was going to become the rare #7 finisher who does not fade into obscurity after leaving the show. “The producers know it, my management knows it, and I know it. … I’m ready to pounce on it. I’m ready to attack.” Curiously, Langone said not only did he choose to keep his piano talents under wraps, but he also picked songs that weren’t necessarily the best ones for the show, but ones that he thought might help him in his post-“Idol” career. “When I get on that piano, I don’t want to be remembered as getting on the piano and having 20 million-plus people see me on a piano doing a cover,” he said. “I want people to see me sitting on a piano and singing my songs, my heartfelt, real songs that came from my soul.” Asked whom he might compare himself to or want to work with, Langone ticked off the kind of list that is probably on every wannabe star’s bedroom wall at the moment: Bruno Mars, Legend, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Usher and Ne-Yo. Though he wouldn’t reveal who has been in touch, Langone promised that he’s already heard from a number of rappers who are ready to get in the studio with him. Stefano also admitted that he was conflicted by lasting longer than his pal Pia Toscano , a singer many thought would finish higher than him. “When I came out for [the show], I was never wanting to be the American Idol; it was getting that foot in the door in the music industry and taking a step forward in that way,” explained Langone, who hit the bottom three times before his luck ran out Thursday night. “I knew how bad Pia wanted to be the American Idol, and I almost wanted it more for her more than me.” Stefano said he was not rattled by landing in the bottom three so many times, instead focusing on what he was going to do the following week and working hard to improve. “It doesn’t really reflect on who I am as a musician or a performer at all,” he said. “Now it’s time for me to really move forward and become that footprint that I know I can put on this industry.” When good pal and Hollywood roommate James Durbin jumped on him at the end of Thursday’s show after shedding many tears for his eliminated friend, Langone just chalked it up to Durbin being a “cry baby” and said it was all good. He counseled James not to worry about him and revealed that he will be the best man at the rocker’s upcoming wedding. So we now know he held back on his talents, but given his apparent sex appeal, was Langone mad that it didn’t dawn on him to plant a kiss on Jennifer Lopez’s cheek first? “Not at all. Wayne needs time to put finishing touches on the album, Young Money president Mack Maine told us. By Rob Markman Lil Wayne Photo: MTV News Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV is the most anticipated rap album of 2011 thus far, but fans will have to wait just a little bit longer to hear it. The release date has been pushed back from May 16 to June 21 to allow Wayne to add finishing touches on the LP, according to Young Money president Mack Maine. “He’s still perfecting a few things, he’s a perfectionist … changing a few lines,” Mack Maine said of Wayne’s recording process. “We also have a huge record that wasn’t done yet. We’re in L.A. right now. We have a little studio time and it should be done probably by Monday.” Just as Tha Carter III had an all-star lineup &8212; featuring the likes of Jay-Z, T-Pain and Robin Thicke &8212; its follow-up is expected to have guests of the same caliber. Unfortunately, waiting on the album’s contributors to turn in their features has added to the delay as well. “If you calculate all of that, by the time we would’ve finished mixing, we wouldn’t have met the [original] due date to turn in the album,” said Mack. “So we had to push it back.” As far as Tha Carter IV track listing that has been making its way around the Internet, Mack confirms that it isn’t final. “I’m pretty sure it can’t be all the way accurate, because I don’t even have all the features back on some of it, and two [of the] songs haven’t been done yet,” he said. Wayne’s video for “If I Die Tonight” featuring Rick Ross, which leaked online Tuesday and was quickly taken down, also isn’t finalized, according to Mack. The video was obtained by some email hackers but wasn’t complete, as Wayne and director Collin Tilley are still going back and forth with edits. Mack estimates that fans can expect a completed version of the clip within the next two weeks. Tha Carter IV ‘s album cover , which also leaked earlier this week, is real, however. The reveal wasn’t intentional and happened only a few hours after the Young Money camp approved the image, which features a picture of Wayne in kindergarten with tattoos on his face. “The same day it leaked out, we had just approved the cover that morning. Soon as we approved it, it leaked out within two hours,” the Young Money President said. And that’s not all. While trying to remain as tight-lipped as possible, Mack did dish on Tha Carter IV ‘s next single, which he compares to Weezy’s 2008 hit “Lollipop,” featuring the late Static Major. “It’s more along the lines of a ‘Lollipop,’ ” he said. “People call [them] crossover records and all of that, but [it will be] just one of those [records] that will be liked by the masses.” Related Artists Lil Wayne
