Justin Bieber Postpones NY State Fair Show Due To Illness

Singer had to reschedule Sunday’s Syracuse show for Wednesday. By Gil Kaufman Justin Bieber Photo: Mark Von Holden/ Getty Images Justin Bieber may only be a 16-year-old pop star, but he usually has the stamina of a globe-trotting Olympic marathoner. Despite his superhuman ability to jet from one coast to the next on a weekly basis, however, even the Biebs gets taken low every once in a while. That was the case on Sunday, when Bieber was forced to cancel his concert at the New York State Fair in Syracuse due to illness. According to the fair’s website , Bieber bailed on his Sunday night show and rescheduled for Wednesday (September 1). Because of the switch, promoters were also forced to push Wednesday’s previously scheduled Bieber show at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire, to December 9. On Friday, Bieber tweeted that he was psyched for the weekend’s shows but was not feeling well. “Next is Jersey, then Syracuse, then MSG in NYC for the 3D movie!!” he wrote that night. “Been super sick lately but u guys are carrying me. thank u for the love.” He was reportedly energetic during the show at New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Saturday night, though, showing no signs of the impending … Bieber fever. But on Sunday afternoon, Bieber’s enthusiasm had clearly been sapped a bit, when he posted the update , “really don’t know what to twitter … I’m getting rest right now and trying to recover from the not so good news from the doctor.” Though he didn’t mention that the Syracuse show had been canceled, he followed with a shout out to fans. “I’m gonna be OK just need 2 rest but I wanted all of u 2 know I never want to let any of u down. I really appreciate all the kind words.” The New York Daily News reported that the singer’s spokesperson vowed that Tuesday’s Madison Square Garden show will go on, which is good news for fans who were hoping to be part of the filming of the Bieber’s 3-D movie slated to take place at the concert. Soldiers Punished For Not Attending Christian Concert

For the past several years, two U.S. Army posts in Virginia, Fort Eustis and Fort Lee, have been putting on a series of what are called Commanding General’s “Spiritual Fitness” Concerts. As I’ve written in a number of other posts, “spiritual fitness” is just the military’s new term for promoting religion, particularly evangelical Christianity. And this concert series is no different. On May 13, 2010, about eighty soldiers, stationed at Fort Eustis while attending a training course, were punished for opting out of attending one of these Christian concerts. The headliner at this concert was a Christian rock band called BarlowGirl, a band that describes itself as taking “an aggressive, almost warrior-like stance when it comes to spreading the gospel and serving God.” The Commanding General’s Spiritual Fitness Concert Series was the brainchild of Maj. Gen. James E. Chambers, who, according to an article on the Army-mil website, “was reborn as a Christian” at the age of sixteen. According to the article, Chambers held the first concert at Fort Lee within a month of becoming the commanding general of the Combined Arms Support Command and Fort Lee in June 2008. But he had already started the series at Fort Eustis, as the previous commanding general there. The concerts have continued at Fort Eustis under the new commanding general, as well as spreading to Fort Lee under Maj. Gen. Chambers. The concerts are also promoted to the airmen on Langley Air Force Base, which is now part of Joint Base Langley-Eustis. In the Army.mil article, Maj. Gen. Chambers was quoted as saying, “The idea is not to be a proponent for any one religion. It’s to have a mix of different performers with different religious backgrounds.” But there has been no “mix of different performers with different religious backgrounds” at these concerts. Every one of them has had evangelical Christian performers, who typically not only perform their music but give their Christian testimony and read from the Bible in between songs. ———————————–SR————————————— I wonder if the 3 little girls that make up BarlowGirl told the soldiers suffering from Post Traumatic Stress how God had cured them of EATING DISORDERS ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uju2JAJqvfs&feature=related added by: Stoneyroad

Justin Bieber Donates Ticket Sale Proceeds to Tennessee Flood Relief

Is it possible that Justin Bieber is even more charitable than he is adorable? The 16-year old sensation performed at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee last night. Prior to the concert, he announced that, for every ticket purchased, $1.06 would go to area flood relief, as the region still recovers from a massive spring storm that left many dead and homeless. Ke$ha, Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus have all performed benefit concerts in the state since this natural disaster struck. “I’m really glad to be here and help out, something that’s really important to me,” Bieber said at a press conference prior to the event, which raised $32,000-plus for the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. No wonder Justin is considered a young world leader , huh?

Lady Gaga Brings Contagious Energy To Staples Center

After a 72-hour bender of recording new songs, Gaga played the favorites at first of two L.A. shows. By Matt Elias Lady Gaga performs at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images LOS ANGELES — Fresh from her headlining gig at Lollapalooza, Lady Gaga rolled her Monster Ball into L.A. on Wednesday night for the first of two shows at the Staples Center. Hours before the concert started, Gaga’s little monsters marauded around the venue, decked out in Gaga gear. The theme for the ball may as well been a “no pants party,” with fans of both sexes parading in fishnets and leotards. It wasn’t just Mother Monster’s kin in attendance — Perez Hilton tweeted that Britney Spears was on hand for the show, though he said she left after a few songs. With the pop princess watching, Gaga took the stage just after 9 p.m. It was everything you would expect from a Gaga production — the sets! the costumes! the lights! — but what can’t be overlooked is the energy. Gaga and her dancers gave it their all for two hours and change. With four major set changes, 19 songs (not including the interstitial tunes) and an arching narrative throughout the show, the Monster Ball seems less of a concert than a Broadway musical at times. The set kicked off with “Dance in the Dark,” “Glitter and Grease” and “Just Dance” (the opening notes of which were played on a keyboard that was hidden under the hood of a broken down car). Gaga’s first wardrobe choice of the night was a pair of oversize purple shades, a giant shoulder-padded purple jacket and a purple leopard-print leotard underneath. After the first few songs, Gaga addressed her adoring crowd. “The Monster Ball is sexual freedom,” she declared. “Tonight in Los Angeles we’ll be super freaks and monsters.” And she continued her conversation with the audience throughout the night. With fans on their feet during a rousing rendition of “LoveGame” (encouraged by Gaga’s “Now dance mother—-ers!), she thanked them for buying tickets and supporting her. “Tonight, I want you to free yourselves, forget your insecurities.” Next up was “Boys Boys Boys,” followed by a brief exit. She returned from beneath the stage on a riser to perform “Money Honey.” She then took time to call a fan in the cheap seats and surprise him with tickets closer to the stage. It was a perfect segue to “Telephone,” which was one of the most elaborate dance routines and biggest sing-alongs of the night. But Gaga had to settle the crowd for at least a few minutes during the night. With her piano rising from the beneath the stage, she launched into “Speechless” — which she dedicated to her dad, who was also in attendance. Next was new tune “You and I,” proving that all the she really needs is her voice and a piano. The new song was a tease of what’s yet to come. Gaga announced that she had been on a 72-hour bender of writing and recording new music. “I want to put it out tomorrow,” she said, “but I can’t!” “So Happy I Could Die,” “Monster” and “Teeth” kept the show moving until the climactic “Alejandro,” “Poker Face” and Paparazzi.” At one point, Gaga emerged in a bra and panty set that sprayed sparks from her unmentionable regions. But the crowd’s biggest eruption occurred during the encore. With the curtain still down, Gaga’s familiar “oh, oh, oh-oh-oooh” broke over the speakers, and fans instantly recognized “Bad Romance.” As fans roared, the curtain lifted to reveal her in a rotating sphere wearing a mirrored angular outfit. It was her 19th song of concert — with almost as many wardrobe changes — and it was finally time for Gaga to call it a night as her monsters exited the ball sweaty and satisfied. Justin Bieber Should ‘Have Fun’ With 3-D Movie, Jonas Brothers Say

‘The camera work is really crazy,’ Joe Jonas says. ‘But I’m sure he’ll handle it well.’ By Jocelyn Vena The Jonas Brothers Photo: MTV News Next year, Justin Bieber fans will have the chance to see the singer’s story retold on the big screen in a 3-D movie currently in the works. But Bieber won’t be the first teen pop star to land in theaters in multiple dimensions. He joins the likes of Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, both of whom have already had their live performances delivered to fans in 3-D. And while a director still needs to be chosen for the flick, the JoBros had some advice for Bieber as he prepares to shoot. “Have fun. It’s a really fun experience,” Joe told MTV News last week at their Road Dogs baseball game in Joliet, Illinois, just before the brothers kicked off their tour. “The camera work is all really crazy, but I’m sure he’ll handle it all really well.” Since they had so much fun the first time around, does that mean there could be a sequel to the “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience” ? “Maybe,” Joe said. “For right now, I think we’re just going to be streaming live throughout the summer. We want people to come see the show, but right now we’re just really focused on this live show. That’s where we’re at right now, and we’re just getting ready for the first opening night tomorrow night,” he told us last Friday. If the guys ever do decide to make another concert flick, their current tour would be the perfect draw. The JoBros just hit the road for a lengthy tour that features not only pal Demi Lovato, but also a number of their “Camp Rock 2” pals. Plus, there’ll be lots of Jonas music. “We are doing a Jonas Brothers set, and it’s actually a lot,” Kevin said about the tour, which kicked off in Chicago on Saturday. Kevin teased that fans will be treated to some oldies but goodies. “We’re playing a lot of Jonas Brothers songs, and we’re integrating ‘Camp Rock’ and ‘JONAS L.A.’ songs [and] songs from our past. We’re really excited.” Which songs do you hope the JoBros will include in their set list? Tell us in the comments!
