Pitted against highly trained Tributes who have prepared for the Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. Lionsgate will release the film on March 23, 2012. Before then, MTV News has a ton of “Hunger Games” content for you to check out. The Hunger Games’ Jennifer Lawrence: "I’d Go Nude for the Right Movie" [PICS]

She made her name in Hollywood playing tough-minded, totally covered up teens in Winter’s Bone (2010) and the upcoming The Hunger Games (2012), but Jennifer Lawrence is showing her softer (and slicker) side in the new issue of Esquire. Jennifer posed in her skivvies for a set of highly greased-up pics that show her sporting an alluring post-workout look, which is appropriate considering the tough athletic training she went through filming her new movie. ” You can’t diet when you are filming a movie like The Hunger Games, running in 100 degree weather and doing all these stunts, ” she tells Glamour Uk of her intense regimen. “ Anyway, Katniss is supposed to be a hunter; she is meant to be scary. Kate Moss running at you with a bow and arrow isn’t scary. ” This isn’t the first time Jennifer has gone through a physical transformation for a movie- she sat through eight hours of makeup every day being covered in blue body paint and silicone scales for her role as Mystique in X-Men: First Class (2011). And she actually gained weight for the role, just in case you couldn’t tell it was a woman under all of that makeup: “ I’m really baby-faced ,” she says. “ I knew I was basically going to be naked on camera and I didn’t want to look like a little boy – I wanted to look like a woman. ” Well, you know, Jennifer, the best way to show audiences that you’re all woman is to lose the clothes entirely…what’s that? You’re down for that, too? “ So far, I haven’t found a film I’d love to be naked in, ” she explains. “ But I certainly never look at an actress naked in a movie and judge her. It’s a human body, which is a beautiful thing, right? So stay tuned… ” Oh we will, Jennifer. We will. See more slick, sexy pics of Jennifer Lawrence in Esquire after the jump!

Jennifer Lawrence in Glamour UK of the Day

Jennifer Lawrence is some 21 year old who hasn’t been all that famous, she’s from Kentucky, was nominated for an Academy Award in 2010 for Winter’s Bone, a movie I’ve never heard of and now she’s staring as a key charactere in Hunger Games a movie franchine based on a book that I’ve never heard of….cuz sci/fi is for virgins and I just can’t stand the shit and have never really been able to stand that shit…. Either way, it’s gonna be a big fucking movie empire and she’s going to be in the paparzzi eye and this is what she has to say about that: “In some ways, [living in the public eye] is a hard life, but it’s a great professional life,” she told Glamour. “I’m doing what I love, and then I get months and months rest. I have a lot of money for a 21-year-old. I can’t stand it when actors complain.” Here are the pics of her in Glamour UK, not naked enough, but good enough to make me want to K-Fed her…but I’d K-Fed anyone at this point in my life just to get away from this hell….cuz I suck at life…

Jennifer Lawrence on Kristen Stewart’s Life: No Thanks!

With the March 23 release of The Hunger Games – a film that has set box office records for advanced ticket sales – Jennifer Lawrence is about to become a global sensation. But don’t tell that to the actress. “I look at Kristen Stewart now and I think, ‘I’d never want to be that famous,'” Lawrence tells the latest issue of Glamour UK . “”I can’t imagine how I’d feel if all of a sudden my life was pandemonium.” With such anticipation for The Hunger Games , though, and with two more films in the franchise beyond that, Lawrence – and British boyfriend Nicholas Hoult – should prepare for a paparazzi onslaught. Not that the actress is really causing a stink. “In some ways, it’s a hard life, but it’s a great professional life,” she says. “I’m doing what I love, and then I get months and months of rest. I have a lot of money for a 21-year-old. I can’t stand it when actors complain.” Amen, Jennifer.

When The Hunger Games Meets The Vampire Diaries…

Adventures in Hunger Games Marketing: Effie Trinket, Style Icon

As The Hunger Games ‘ March 23 release fast approaches, Lionsgate is churning out a steady stream of stills and goodies and tie-ins to stoke the fires of fandom and they’ve put a surprising bit of marketing muscle behind not only star Jennifer Lawrence , but co-star Elizabeth Banks and her supporting character, Effie Trinket. On second thought, maybe that’s not so surprising; Effie’s strikingly gaudy visual look, representative of image-obsessed Capitol culture in the fictional nation of Panem, offers more in the way of marketing opportunities than Katniss Everdeen’s tomboy-turned-teen warrior ensembles. To wit: Effie, as played by Banks, is the face of the official Hunger Games nail polish line , comprised of different shades representing the districts of Panem. (“The odds are never in favor of homely nails,” she preaches on the Hunger Games offshoot site CapitolCouture.pn .) Ironically, Capitol fashions are thought of as ridiculously garish within the Hunger Games world, which explains Banks’s clownish getups as Effie, District 12’s government-assigned escort. The message gets a bit muddled when Lionsgate and its corporate partners sell ” Capitol Couture ” to fans with a positive spin to be coveted and replicated, but fans have a soft spot for Effie and the sentiment suggests more of a cosplay vibe than any legitimate espousal of Capitol culture. (Right?) Anyway, don’t be surprised if you see Effie’s garish styles mimicked IRL sooner or later; Halloween 2012 should be rife with Effie-inspired fan fashions, if the franchise’s enormous popularity is any indication. Here are a few of Effie’s looks to get you started — she never wears the same makeup with more than one outfit, airbrushes on pink foundation, and wears butterfly-adorned falsies, so we obviously already have that in common. Woody Harrelson Avoids Being ‘Phony Drunk’ In ‘Hunger Games’

But he also didn’t want to actually drink during filming — like he had done before — to play Haymitch. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Woody Harrelson Photo: MTV News Anyone familiar with “The Hunger Games” books knows the character Haymitch Abernathy is mostly memorable for one thing: drunkenness. Sure, his character has a more multifaceted arc over the course of Suzanne Collins’ trilogy, but in speaking of the first book and film adaptation, Haymitch’s most recognizable trait is his near-constant intoxication. When MTV News caught up with Woody Harrelson recently, the man who will be bringing the District 12 victor and mentor to life via the big-screen adaptation on March 23, we him how he approached his character’s inebriation. “It’s an intriguing thing for me to play, because it’s not something I’ve had that much opportunity to play,” Harrelson said. “I was a little bit worried about looking phony, that phony drunk thing. Some Method actors might go drunk onscreen; I can’t do that. I tried it one time,” he admitted. “When I was doing ‘Indecent Proposal,’ I had this one scene, and I was supposed to be really drunk, contesting Robert Redford’s love for Demi Moore, and I got smashed because I was supposed to be, so I rationalized it, and that wasn’t a pleasant experience.” Harrelson said he and “Games” director Gary Ross spent time coming up with the right level of inebriation, a point that suited the character but did not completely detract or distract from the story. “There was a thing with me and Gary trying to decide the level of drunkenness in any given scene, and I was always pushing for more drunk, and he didn’t want me to be drunk in every scene,” he said. “He was always pulling back, and I was always pushing for more just because I think it’s kind of funny and interesting. Knowing Gary, he got the right balance.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Hunger Games.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . How The Hunger Games Brought a Web Windfall to the World’s Tiniest Island Community

Next month brings the launch of The Hunger Games , one of the most-anticipated releases of the 2012 calendar and the first installment of a hopeful franchise based on Suzanne Collins’s bestselling young-adult adventure trilogy. In selling their film, studio execs at Lionsgate have ramped up all manner of marketing to immerse fans in the experience — and, in doing so, have made the least-populated jursdiction on the planet a financial beneficiary. The Hunger Games series features teenaged heroine Katniss Everdeen and concerns a North America remade into a dystopian dictatorship, renamed Panem and ruled by the governing body called The Capitol. As Lionsgate has expanded its promotional campaign, a wide array of affiliated websites has sprung up in an effort to make Panem as real as possible, many of those bearing obscure web addresses (e.g. www.Capitol.pn) to imply that the sites originate in the nation depicted in the film. This unique designation is not a studio fabrication, however. The .pn modifier is the domain offered up by the very real government of the Pitcairn Islands, a collection of four land masses comprising 18 square miles in the middle of the southern Pacific Ocean. This British territory rests over a thousand miles west of Easter Island and just as far east of Tahiti. So how did Pitcairn, with barely over 50 residents and intermittent electrical services, become the Internet home of a major Hollywood franchise? “It’s a happy coincidence,” Bill Haigh, governmental registrar for the island’s domain offices, told me in an e-mail correspondence. “Lionsgate have found .pn useful to them, and it has been helpful for bringing benefit to the island.” As the movie studio looked into creating an online presence for the film’s fictional nation, a functional domain was already in place. The Pitcairn government offers up these domains primarily for corporations to establish and/or protect their brand, and Haigh explained that the proceeds go a long way toward the islands’ infrastructural upkeep. “The sale of domain names is of great benefit to the 50 or so inhabitants of Pitcairn Island,” he said, “because revenue thus gathered is used to bring modern telecommunications to this extremely remote spot on the globe via satellite. This is quite an expensive process. And it is not only for telecommunications but generally for supply shipping, children’s education, medical care etc.” The result is that The Hunger Games has become a boon for this tiny territory, one that lacks a movie theater and receives but two cable channels — CNN and Turner Classic Movies. While Haigh declined to divulge the number of Web addresses purchased by the studio (Lionsgate reps did not respond to requests for comment), he did direct me to an online registry where one can inquire about the availability and ownership of various selections. Along with already established Capitol.pn, and CapitolCouture.pn, there are registrations for Panem’s various districts (District1.pn, through District13.pn), and each of the main characters have their own addresses (e.g. PresidentSnow.pn). Ultimately it’s impossible to deduce exactly how many Hunger Games characters, phrases and permutations thereof have staked a .pn claim. After browsing the registry for a while, however, it seems safe to assume that Lionsgate may have vastly more addresses collected than there are Pitcairn residents. And based on the fee of $100 NZ (appx. $75 US) per registered address, Hunger brings in revenues well into the thousands of dollars — a tidy supplement to the islands’ steady tourism business. As geographically remote as the Pitcairn Islands are, this Hunger Games dalliance does not make for their sole involvement with Hollywood. Most of the surnames found on the island are shared by characters from the oft-adapted novel Mutiny on The Bounty ; the book and numerous films are based on historical events that occurred on and around Pitcairn. For this reason cruise ships are a common sight in Bounty Bay, where visitors will find the outpost isle’s own capitol. However, as much of a windfall as Hunger Games may prove for the islands, it is doubtful “Everdeen” will appear anytime soon in the area phone books.
