Bret Michaels Hopes To Make ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ Finale, Despite Hospitalization

By Jocelyn Vena Bret Michaels in a photoshoot for “Celebrity Apprentice” Photo: NBC After being hospitalized on Thursday for what has been called a “warning stroke” [LINk http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1639716/20100520/bret_michaels.jhtml] just weeks after suffering a serious brain hemorrhage , Bret Michaels’ rep says that there’s still a chance that the Poison frontman may appear on the live finale of the “Celebrity Apprentice” on Sunday. “As far as I know, Bret will be there unless his doctors tell him otherwise,” his rep told People. Michaels is scheduled to appear in the final boardroom evaluation against fellow finalist Holly Robinson Peete. “We’re cautiously optimistic that he will attend the finale. But ultimately, it’s up to his doctors.” Since his hospitalization on Thursday, his rep told The Associated Press that Michaels has been moved to an outpatient care facility; no further details were released. After suffering from a brain hemorrhage last month, Michaels reportedly complaining of numbness on the left side of his body in his face and hands yesterday, doctors described the symptoms as a Transient Ischemic Attack, or warning stroke. While performing MRI and CT scans, doctors conducted ultrasound tests looking for blood clots — specifically an Ultrasound Bubble Test of his heart — which proved positive for a Patent Forum Ovale, or a hole in his heart. Both conditions are treatable and it’s believed they are not connected to the hemorrhage. Michaels’ rep, Janna Elias, added the following statement on Bret’s behalf: “Bret wants everyone to know he cannot thank you enough for all of the well-wishes, prayers and good vibes you have sent his way. Even though these last few months have been tough on him and his family, especially this most recent setback, he is in good spirits, great medical hands and is positive and hopeful that everything is going to be OK. Mark Hoppus Compares ‘Star Wars’ To ‘Twilight’

Blink-182 frontman says not seeing a ‘Twilight’ movie would be like ‘somebody coming up to me and saying [they] never saw ‘Star Wars.’ By Jocelyn Vena Mark Hoppus Photo: MTV News The teens of the new millennium wait anxiously for the day they can hit up their local cinema and check out the latest installment of “The Twilight Saga,” but 30 or so years ago that’s how teens felt about each and every episode of “Star Wars.” So when the stars, including Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford, gathered to celebrate the 30th anniversary of “The Empire Strikes Back” , it seemed fitting to note that if you didn’t see this film in the theaters all those years ago, it was kind of like missing an episode of “Twilight.” But first Blink-182 frontman Mark Hoppus explained to MTV News at the event just why “Empire” is still such a beloved part of the “Star Wars” franchise. “I think that this movie has a longevity because it kicks so much ass, and it’s definitely my favorite movie of all time. And I think that it … has a really amazing second-act feel to it,” he said. “It’s really dark. It’s moody. It’s not just an action/adventure. There’s all these different elements that come into it. There’s betrayal and there’s discovery. It’s a really great movie.” That sounds similar to the second act of “Twilight,” “New Moon,” which sees itself pitted against “Avatar” at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards . Hoppus admits he feels kind of silly for not yet having seen this generation’s pivotal flick. “I have not seen the new ‘Twilight,’ ” he said. “I don’t know. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Photo: MTV News In the newly released “The Carrie Diaries,” a written prequel of sorts to the “Sex and the City” series, readers follow a teenage Carrie Bradshaw as she navigates her senior year of high school. Now, with “Sex and the City 2” mania heating up, it seems only a matter of time before the book gets the TV or film treatment. But who could fill the iconic Carrie’s shoes &#8212 as well as Sarah Jessica Parker? MTV News recently caught up with the actress, who was promoting the “Sex” sequel opening May 17, and asked her. “It’s so funny. It’s just been asked of me, of course, in the last 24 hours,” Parker told MTV News about how she’d react to another actress playing a younger Carrie. “It makes perfect sense [that another actress would be cast]. And I would like to be generous of spirit and say, ‘Of course,’ and, ‘I will do so if that is asked of me.’ ” But Parker admitted she wasn’t entirely comfortable with the idea, referencing another iconic character known for her shoes. “It’s just, I don’t know. I can’t imagine anyone else playing Dorothy Gale &#8212 just Judy Garland,” Parker smiled with a nod to “The Wizard of Oz.” Parker can probably rest easy for now though, as adaptation plans seem to be a ways off. “The Carrie Diaries” author Candace Bushnell recently told MTV News, “It’s not in my hands, so there aren’t any plans at this moment. ‘Bones’ Finale Brings Some ‘Big Changes,’ Emily Deschanel Says

By Jocelyn Vena Emily Deschanel Photo: MTV News “Bones” is set to end its fifth season Thursday night (May 20), and the show’s female lead, Emily Deschanel, said there are big changes about to go down at the Jeffersonian — which means someone might be leaving the institution. Deschanel said she’s all for the show’s shakeups. “Our season finale is about a hoarder who is buried alive under his own hoardings. He’s murdered and then trapped under his own piles of paper and such,” Deschanel told MTV News earlier this week. “And [Deschanel’s character Temperance ‘Bones’] Brennan is questioning the whole murder business.” Deschanel said Brennan wonders how much longer she can deal with solving horrific murders. “It’s taking a toll on her, so big changes are made at the end of the season,” she teased. “And those changes affect many characters going into the next season. Things are very different.” Fans will likely be surprised by the changes, but the star said it will ultimately make it a more interesting show for them, as well as for the characters. “I like them. I think they’re appropriate,” she said of the adjustments. “I think they’re right for the characters. It’s a good way to progress the story in a way we haven’t before.” Of course, fans always wonder if Bones and Booth, played by David Boreanaz , will ever finally get together romantically. Deschanel said there’s a chance it will happen — someday. “I do see that happening for the two of them. I can’t tell you when, but I do see them getting together and seeing Booth and Brennan as a couple sometime in the future,” she said, adding, “It’s a debate between fans [if they should end up together].” What do you hope goes down on the “Bones” season finale? It’s the question that has been plaguing Twilighters since Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart first auditioned on Catherine Hardwicke’s bed. When they spoke to Oprah Winfrey about it earlier this month, they laughed off the chatter about their relationship. And in an interview with USA Today the actors admitted we haven’t seen them out together because they’ve been deliberately hiding. But if you’re hoping their co-star Elizabeth Reaser, who plays vampire matriarch Esme Cullen, has any insight into their dating status, it seems she is the wrong girl to ask. “Oh! I don’t know!” she laughed when asked about the rumors when she stopped by the MTV Newsroom earlier this week. “I haven’t talked to Rob or Kristen in a while, so I have no idea. Like I said, you probably know way more than I do.” Reaser said she’s not really in tune with the personal lives of the people she works with. “I never know anything,” she admitted. “I’m also, like, the clueless person on set that has no idea what’s happening. Travis Garland: Perez Hilton ‘Kicked Off’ My ‘American Idol’ Break

By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Travis Garland Photo: MTV News On Wednesday night (May 19), “American Idol” fans were introduced to Travis Garland, Perez Hilton’s new musical discovery . After getting his start as a member of the boy band NLT (alongside “Glee” star Kevin McHale), Garland is now hoping to ignite the pop world on his own — with help, of course, from the gossip blogger. Garland’s debut single, “Believe,” was produced by Nate “Danja” Hills (Britney Spears, Keri Hilson), and the budding star admitted his first taste of success has been overwhelming. “It’s been so much. I’m just trying to take it all in, trying not to get too distracted by everything else that’s going on,” Garland told MTV News during rehearsals for his “Idol” performance. Garland, who earned radio play as part of NLT with the Timbaland-produced “She Said, I Said,” recalled the morning he got the call to appear on “Idol.” “It was actually a wake-up call,” he explained. “I want to say it was a little over two weeks ago, and I had been in the studio super late the night before. Around 10 a.m., I looked at my phone, I had probably 10 e-mails, three missed phone calls,” he continued. “And then Perez [Hilton] called me and he was like, ‘Trav, I got some good news, I got some bad news.’ And I was like, ‘What’s the good news?’ And he was like, ‘Well, there’s a spot open on “American Idol,” and I want you to fill it. You think you can do it?’ ” Garland obviously said yes, and “it all kind of kicked off from there.” Although Garland is still a relative newcomer to the music business, he isn’t so sure he would’ve had what it takes to compete on “Idol” had he gone the traditional contestant route. “I don’t know, Simon would probably say something snarky,” he joked. “I really don’t know. Mariah Carey Puts Out Fire Before Show In Egypt

Just before she lit up the stage for a show in Egypt, the star put out a very literal fire. The singer tweeted about the incident as it was happening. “In Egypt getting ready to go on stage and suddenly there was a surge of power and an electrical fire started under my feet! Wtf?!” she tweeted on Monday. “Naturally, my emergency instincts kicked in and I put out the flames w/a towel. Lol (yet true),” she tweeted. Carey seemed to have a pretty good sense of humor about the incident. “The funny thing about this is an ol’skool radio station in the other room started playing ‘aww freak out!’ @ that exact moment!” She then tweeted her friend, Jasmine Dotiwala, saying, “@jasminedotiwala. Appalled U didn’t tweet to see if I’m ok after the fire incident in Egypt! (Said in my diva theatrical accent: )” Carey also posted a photo of the surge protector that caught fire. “These r the charred remains of my fire on the Nile,” she wrote. This actually isn’t the first time Carey has acted as her own personal firefighter. Hubby Nick Cannon revealed that on one Valentine’s Day , Carey saved the holiday from turning into a burning inferno. “So you walk into this room and all you see is red and lights and candles. We were opening gifts and I smell smoke … the whole room was on fire,” he recalled to MTV News. “And I screamed like a little bitch. Mariah, being a hero that she is, put the fire out. She’s my hero. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Neil Patrick Harris Photo: MTV News On Tuesday night’s (May 18) episode of “Glee,” Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) comes face-to-face with his onetime high school rival, Bryan Ryan. “How I Met Your Mother” actor Neil Patrick Harris guest stars in the role, flexing his singing muscle. “Well, I’m on it,” Harris told MTV News. “I sing a bit, and I’m a jackass. I sing a few [songs], one of which is ‘Dream On’ by Aerosmith. And yeah, that’s me hitting the high note at the end, FYI.” In the episode, directed by Joss Whedon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), Gleeks will learn what’s at the root of the feud between the former classmates, and the revelation will be a surprising one, according to Harris. But Harris isn’t only fighting. He hinted there might be some loving too — with a certain head coach. “I don’t know what scenes made it. I certainly had a love scene offscreen with Sue Sylvester, and that was exhausting,” Harris joked. “But we’ll see when we watch the show.” MTV News caught up with Morrison at the Fox upfronts in New York City on Monday, and though he wouldn’t confirm the specific episode story line, he did admit that Jane Lynch, who plays Sue, was known to get frisky with her co-stars on set. “Oh yeah! NPH! I actually haven’t seen the episode so I don’t know,” Morrison said, referring to Harris. “This whole season has felt like one long episode, so it’s kind of hard to think back and remember … I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow night. And what he really wanted to know was how Joe and his “Camp Rock 2” co-star and real-life love, Demi Lovato, are planning to balance out their love and their jobs on tour. “We don’t know yet! We’re both really excited!” Joe said about their summer tour, which kicks off in July, when the band, along with Lovato, chatted on “Good Morning America” via video hookup from Los Angeles. She added, “We’ll find out!” The duo, along with Kevin and Nick, also revealed that the tour will be a full-on “Camp Rock 2” spectacular. “It’s going to be a blast. We’re going to be bringing the movie to life everywhere we go,” Kevin explained. But, the conversation didn’t stay on the topic of touring for long. And, Kevin gave fans an update of his life being married to Danielle . “It’s great. It’s amazing being with your best friend everyday,” he shared. “It’s so nice to have that relationship there and beyond that a partnership.” And, he said that like Joe, he’ll have his lady on the road with him. “She will be [there],” he said. “We have a dog, Riley, as well.” But the conversation wasn’t all about the band’s love life; the guys also shared what their most interesting fan gift of all time has ever been. Joe revealed, “A hippo was one of gifts once. Somebody adopted a hippo in our name. I don’t know [where it is]. By Jocelyn Vena Robert Pattinson on “Oprah” Photo: Harpo Productions When the “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” cast stopped by “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on Thursday (May 13), Taylor Lautner dished about what kind of girl he’s looking for. But it was Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart who were really put on the spot by the talk-show maven regarding all those romance rumors . Rather than directly answering the question of whether or not they’re dating, the pair once again took the high road about the rumors and made light of it all. “Kristen’s pregnant,” Pattinson joked, with Stewart going along for the ride: “He really loves to shock people because he thinks it’s funny. No, we’ve actually had this conversation. He’s having the baby.” It seems that regardless of where she stands with Pattinson, Stewart’s real love is her cat, Max. “I’m obsessed with my cat,” she said. “[We] have a very Edward-and-Bella relationship. It’s, like, very co-dependent with my cat.” And Stewart admits that like her “Twilight” co-stars, she doesn’t like to party it up. Instead, the crew prefers more low-key nights. “[I’d] probably be desperately calling up everyone in my phone book,” Pattinson said. “[Seeing if] anyone I had ever met was doing something, because no one would have called me.” Lautner also generally just sees who is around in his life to hang out with, unless “American Idol” is on that night. Then, he’s already got plans. “Sunday I’d be watching ‘Celebrity Apprentice,’ ” he explained. “Saturday’s a little difficult for me. I don’t know. I’m bored on Saturdays. … Most likely I’m just spending time at home.
