First Lady Love: Shelly-O Says ‘I Can See The Worry Creasing His Face’ Obama Says ‘We’ve Got To Fix This’

Shelly-O took to Massachusetts to rally up support for her husband’s second term. The lovely First Lady expressed her loving concern for her husband and highlighted Obama’s dedication to the nation and somehow flawlessly fused concern and support. Like the POTUS, she’s equally powerful with her words … and convincing. First lady Michelle Obama gave a fascinating insight into just how heavily the weight of office rests on her husband’s shoulders and how the job of president has taken it’s toll. Speaking at a fund-raiser for the Democratic National Committee in Massachusetts she told of his total dedication to the job and told how she worries about the increasing number of lines on his face She said: ‘I see the worry creasing his face. I hear the passion and determination in his voice. ‘You won’t believe what these folks are going through;’ he told me that last night. “‘Michelle, it is not right. We’ve got to fix this. We have to do more,’”‘Barack always reminds me that we are playing a long game.’ He reminds me, as I said to you, too, that change is slow.’He reminds me that change doesn’t happen all at once, but that if we keep showing up, if we keep fighting the good fight, doing what we know is right, then eventually we will get there, because the truth is we always have in this country. We always have.’ Michelle Obama said that when her husband first told her he was planning to run for president she had serious doubts about how it would affect their young family. She added: ‘I was proud of the work that he was doing in the Senate. And I thought that he would make a phenomenal president. ‘That wasn’t the issue. ‘But, like a lot of folks, I still had some cynicism about politics. And with two young daughters at home, I was worried about the toll that a presidential campaign would take on our family. ‘So it took some convincing on Barack’s part. And by ‘some,’ I mean a lot; he’s still paying back.’ Mrs Obama said that it was going on the campaign trail in 2008 and getting out an meeting voters – that led to her having a change of heart. She added: ‘It’s about meeting people one-on-one, hearing what’s going on in their lives.’ ‘But I think that the last four years have shown us the truth of what Barack has always said: That if any child in this country is left behind, then that matters to all of us, even if she’s not our daughter, and even if he’s not our son. ‘If any family in this country struggles, then we cannot be fully content with our own family’s good fortune, because that is not what we do in this country.’ Awe, she loves her some him! It’s clear that she supports him and holds him down when the press and Capitol Hill politicians are trying to sabotage his agenda. Every good man needs a Shelly-O. Source

November 16, 2010 was the best day of my life. I remember I was…

November 16, 2010 was the best day of my life. I remember I was going to the Justin Bieber concert in Boston, Massachusetts at the Boston Garden with 3 of my best friends. It was on a Tuesday, so right after school we drove down to Boston. While we were in the car we were listening to his CD the whole way down and was talking about him. Then when we got there the first thing we did was buy t-shirts and went out to eat. Then finally we stood in line for about an hour outside in the cold. It was the biggest line I’ve ever seen. All four of us were singing and yelling while everyone was looking at us . Then the doors finally opened. Our seats were apart from each other so it was two of us in one section and two of us in another. My friend and I decided to take the first row of the Lodge and seats 9 and 10. My other two friends sat down on the floor but farther back then us. When the concert started you couldn’t hear anything because all you could hear was everyone screaming at the top of there lungs but I was doing the same. Sean Kingston came on first then Justin came on and the place got ever louder. I was yelling and screaming to every song Justin was singing so far. While Justin was singing “Down to earth” a lady (Allison) came up to me and said, “Do you wanna be the One Less Lonely Girl”. I said “What?” (since I couldn’t hear because of all the screaming) then she said again, “Do you wanna be the One Less Lonely Girl?” Then I realized what she was asking me and I said “YES!” She said, “Alright come with me” . I followed her backstage. She asked me questions like, “Where are you from?” “How old are you?” then she said “Do you need any water?” because I looked like I was going to pass out . Then she said, “Justin is going to sing to you” and she was talking to me the whole time and was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Then one of Justin’s back up dancers, Marvin, started talking to me and started dancing with me. They told me to move in a different place backstage but closer to the curtain. I remember Allison saying “look” and I could see the shadow of Justin being behind me singing to the audience. Then everyone asked me to step up in front of the black curtain. Then when I heard the lyrics, “I can fix up your broken heart” they opened the curtain for me and I walked out on stage . They brought me a chair and I started getting tears in my eyes. I couldn’t believe what was happening. Justin came down the stairs in his white long sleeve shirt, white pants, purple high tops, and a purple yankees hat. He comes over to me and gave me roses. He places them in my lap and looks straight in my eyes. Then he circles around me and drags his hand along my back and goes up to the front of the stage and waves his hands to the audience back and forth. Then he comes over to me puts his hand on my right cheek, looks in my eyes, and strokes it. Then goes behind me and starts dancing with his dancers. He came back to me, strokes my right cheek once more, stairs into me eyes deeply, then goes behind me and gives me a hug. Then he kisses me on the head and then the lights go off. I walk off stage with one of his back up dancers and was balling my eyes. Allison and the camera man walked me back to my seat. While I was walking back, people were putting there hands out and looking at me and I was on the big screen. When I was got back to my seat all of my friends were crying saying, “I hate you” and “You lived my dream” but I was still in shock by then and still crying so I didn’t even hear half the things they said. While the concert was still going on, Allison comes back with a disc that had the whole thing on tape. I thanked her so much and finished watching the concert. After the concert people came up to me asking so many questions, asking for a rose and a mother wanted to pay me $10 for a rose. I will never forget that day. It was the best thing that could ever happen to me. When I got home, I balled my eyes out again and then I put the flowers in a vase and then I found a scarf with his name on it that was in the flowers and it says “One Less Lonely Girl”. From this day I still have the flowers hanging in my room, and still have the scarf that I wear all the time. I watch my video about 3 times a day and at my school I’m known as the girl who got on stage with Justin Bieber. I will never, ever forget that day, and how that day was the best day of my life. -@lyssabiebs Here is a video when I was the OLLG! Parental Notification Dominates Testimony At Hearing On Teen Health

More here:

Yesterday, the Legislature’s Program Review and Investigations Committee heard significant testimony on parental notification for minors seeking abortions at its public hearing on teen health. What You Need To Know About New FDA Sunscreen Rules The Family Institute of Connecticut played a key role in arranging this first-ever hearing on parental notification. Sen. Michael McLachlan (R-Danbury) testified about parental notification. He observed that Connecticut legislators want parental notification for teen tanning but not for teen abortions. “Connecticut is fifth in the nation for teen abortions. Connecticut’s teen abortion rate is fifty-five percent higher than the national average,” McLachlan stated. “Parental notification crosses the boundary between pro-life and pro-choice… parental notification is a reasonable expectation of this legislature,” he added. Legislators also heard heart-wrenching testimony from the directors of crisis pregnancy centers, who counsel teens considering abortion on a daily basis. 7 Top Tips To Alleviate Leg Cramps “Parental notification is a common-sense protection for Connecticut’s youth,” stated FIC Executive Director Peter Wolfgang. “Over thirty-six states, including Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania have laws requiring parental involvement in a minor’s decision to have an abortion. If a school nurse can’t administer aspirin to a minor without a parent’s consent, it’s just common sense that the parent should be involved in a child’s decision to undergo a surgical procedure like abortion,” stated Wolfgang. “Currently, Connecticut law deprives teens of the benefit of guardianship when faced with the decision whether to obtain an abortion. It is not a decision that teens should make alone,” he added. “The lack of a parental notification law creates a loophole that is exploited by human traffickers and statutory rapists,” stated Wolfgang. In 2008, a West Hartford man, Adam Gault, was arrested for abducting a 13-year old girl and holding her captive as his sex slave for over a year. In the course of her captivity, Gault impregnated the girl and had her brought to the Planned Parenthood in West Hartford for an abortion. “If Connecticut had a parental notification law, Adam Gault would have been apprehended much sooner,” commented Wolfgang. “Right now, human traffickers and statutory rapists can cover up their crimes by obtaining abortions for their victims. Knowingly or not, Planned Parenthood aids and abets criminals like Adam Gault in covering up their unspeakable offenses,” he added. “Raymond Bechard’s new book, The Berlin Turnpike: A True Story of Human Trafficking in America, has drawn significant attention to the human trafficking of minors in Connecticut. Passing a parental notification law is an important step towards combating this problem and increasing scrutiny on human traffickers,” elaborated Wolfgang. “We also offer a special thanks to Sen. John Kissel (R-Enfield). It was Sen. Kissel who first suggested the idea that led to yesterday’s hearing at FIC’s February 3rd legislative breakfast. It was his good advice that led to FIC’s biggest ever pro-active victory, a public hearing on parental notification,” concluded Wolfgang. Nerds We Love

We see the word “nerd” as a term of endearment. In fact, if loving nerds is wrong we don’t want to be right. A nerd is someone who stayed on his/her intellectual grind, regardless of negative peer pressure. Nerds burned the midnight oil in the library while everyone else was at the party. They toiled to earn multiple degrees and academic accolades. As a result, they are leaders, innovators and thinkers who are taking us all to the next level in science, medicine, and civil rights. Their smarts make them sexy, interesting and admirable. Here are 4 nerds that we just love to pieces. ( Continue… )

Epitome Of A Bad Mother: Woman Who Witheld Cancer Meds From Her Son Sentenced To 8-10 Years In Prison!!

This is definitely a sad story, but it kinda makes you angry at the same time. LAWRENCE, Mass. — A woman who withheld potentially life-saving medications from her autistic, cancer-stricken son was sentenced Friday to eight to 10 years in prison by a judge who said her actions “really do chill one’s soul.” Kristen LaBrie was convicted of attempted murder Tuesday for withholding at least five months of at-home chemotherapy treatments for her son, Jeremy Fraser. The boy died at age 9 in 2009. LaBrie, 38, wept and apologized before Judge Richard Welch handed down her punishment in Lawrence Superior Court. “I am remorseful for my actions and I wish I could have done things differently,” LaBrie told the judge in a courtroom packed with sobbing family members and friends of both LaBrie and the boy’s father, Eric Fraser. “If I could do it differently, I would, because I certainly miss my son, and I think about him every day and I wish he could be with me and my family,” she said. Jeremy Fraser was severely autistic, nonverbal and developmentally delayed. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma shortly after he turned 7 in 2006. His oncologist testified that she told LaBrie that her son’s cancer had a cure rate of about 85 percent to 90 percent under an intensive, two-year treatment plan that included doses of chemotherapy to be given during hospital stays and clinic visits as well as at-home medications LaBrie was supposed to administer at home. LaBrie testified that she largely followed doctor’s orders during the first four phases of his treatment. But she acknowledged that she stopped giving him the at-home medications during the final phase of treatment because she could not bear to see how much pain and suffering the side effects of the medication caused him. Many of LaBrie’s family attempted to plead with the judge to be lenient on her: LaBrie’s older son, Matthew, 18, wrote a letter to the judge asking for leniency. “My mother was nothing but unbelievably kind, caring and completely devoted to Jeremy in every aspect of her life,” he wrote. He described his mother sitting by Jeremy’s bedside while he was treated for cancer at Massachusetts General Hospital. “Something like that takes a toll on a person and after all that, could anybody so easily sit by and watch while a cure is making a child feel worse?” Jeremy’s uncle, Andrew Fraser, spoke to the judge before sentencing, saying he wanted to represent Jeremy and Jeremy’s father, Eric, who was killed in a motorcycle accident seven months after Jeremy died. Andrew Fraser said his brother would have asked for a “fair and just” punishment for LaBrie, despite the contentious relationship they had. Do you think that the sentence the judge handed down was fair, too harsh, or not harsh enough??? Source
