Robert Poindexter Sues Cash Money Records Over Sample In Bow Wow Song According to TMZ reports : Lil Wayne and Birdman’s label Cash Money Records is in the hot seat over allegations it illegally used a sample from a 70s song in one of Bow Wow’s recent tracks. The septuagenarian behind the lawsuit is Robert Poindexter from the 70s band The Persuaders. Poindexter claims Cash Money sampled his band’s song “Love Gonna Pack Up (and Walk Out)” and illegally lifted the tune in Bow Wow’s 2010 track “Still Ballin.” As for “Love Gonna Pack Up (and Walk Out)” — the song was recorded in 1972 and reached the top of the charts … and Poindexter says neither Cash Money nor Bow Wow ever obtained permission to sample it. Just because Poindexter is up in age doesn’t mean he doesn’t want his gwap! Poindexter claims he reached out to Cash Money for an answer, and was redirected to Bow Wow’s attorneys, who then directed him back to Cash Money … which is why Cash Money’s currently in his crosshairs. Poindexter wants $600,000 in punitive damages, plus interest. Cash Money has yet to respond to the suit. We reached out to the label for comment — so far, no word back. You need more people sir… Drew Peterson Sentenced To 38 Years For Murder Of Kathleen Savio Via ABCNews Former Illinois cop Drew Peterson yelled, “I did not kill Kathleen!” during the sentencing phase of his trial today — and then a judge sentenced him to 38 years in jail for killing her. The sentence came after Will County Judge Edward Burmila denied Peterson a re-trial in the killing of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2004. Peterson had faced as many as 60 years in prison. At his sentencing, after Peterson shouted that he did not kill his wife, someone in the courtroom yelled in reply, “Yes you did!” according to ABC News Chicago station WLS. Burmila then ordered that person to leave the courtroom. Peterson went on to claim that police “altered evidence” in his case and “intimidated witnesses and scared my children.” “I love Kathy,” he said. “She was a good mom. … She didn’t deserve to die.” Drew also said he planned to get a tattoo on his back reading “no good deed goes unpunished”. Drew might not have done any good deeds, but the victims’ families are more than happy to see him punished. Savio’s nephew Michael Lisak said afterwards that his aunt “can finally rest in peace.” “Today is a day for battered women, not just Kathleen Savio,” Lisak said. “Your voice will be heard. My aunt’s voice was heard through the grave. She would not stop. They will listen to you now.” Peterson’s sister Cassandra Cales had a blunt message for the newly convicted murderer. “Game over, Drew,” she said. “He can wipe the smirk off his face. It’s time to pay.” LMAO @ “Game over, Drew” Although Peterson was not convicted of killing his fourth wife, Stacy, hopefully this sentence will be bring some semblance of justice to her family as well. Federal prosecutors slapped the one-time rising political star with fraud and conspiracy charges as they revealed the stunning allegations of misspending. In an affidavit, prosecutors said Jackson used his campaign kitty to buy everything from a $5,000 football signed by U.S. presidents, furs and a cashmere cape to memorabilia related to Bruce Lee and Jimi Hendrix. Jackson, the son of the famous civil rights leader, is expected to plead guilty, one of his lawyers said. “Over the course of my life I have come to realize that none of us are immune from our share of shortcomings and human frailties,” Jackson said in a statement. “Still I offer no excuses for my conduct and I fully accept my responsibility for the improper decisions and mistakes I have made.” The ex-Congressman isn’t the only one gettin’ thrown under the bus, his wife has some ‘splainin’ to do to! Via NY Post: The embattled police chief of Richmond, Va., resigned today, after he was accused of sloppy work that allowed Chris Brown to allegedly fake his way through community service. Bryan Norwood, who had been his city’s top cop since 2008, came under intense scrutiny last week when Los Angeles prosecutors said R&B crooner Brown logged hours of work in Richmond that he couldn’t have possibly done. Brown was sentenced to 180 days — or 1,440 hours — of labor in his 2009 plea-bargain deal for savagely assaulting girlfriend Rihanna. After doing 581 hours in LA County, Brown was given permission to finish his debt to society in his home state of Virginia, where he claimed to have finished all court-ordered work. “As of today I’ve accepted the resignation of Bryan Norwood from his post as chief of police for the city of Richmond,” Mayor Dwight Jones announced. “He has offered leadership that has brought us a little bit further in our endeavors to improve public safety. In many ways the Richmond Police Department and the city is better off because of his dedication.” Ray Tarasovic, who had previously served as Richmond’s assistant chief, was talked out of retirement and elevated to Norwood’s old job. “We’ve reached, however, a mutual agreement, at this time, that his time as Richmond police chief has come to an end,” Jones said of Norwood. “We certainly wish Chief Norwood much luck in his endeavors going forward.” SMH.

Via Celebuzz reports : Lance Bass is calling Chris Brown out — about a certain word the R&B star should toss from his vernacular. After a history of the letting the word “f**got” fly, whether it be in his hit “Look At Me Now” or an alleged attack on a fan, Brown has again come under fire for the homophobic slur. In the wake of Brown’s brawl with hip-hop artist Frank Ocean in late January, Ocean — who came out in late July — revealed to investigators that he was called the “f” word by a member of Breezy’s crew during the fray. And that simply doesn’t sit well with the openly gay Bass. “Calling people fa**ot and that stuff, I mean, he may not even mean what he means, but it’s a derogatory term that people throw out there and without even knowing why they are saying it,” Bass told Celebuzz. “But when it comes to Frank Ocean and knowing that he’s … very out … it was definitely meant to hurt him. It’s never good to throw those words out there that mean so much.” And it upsets Bass all the more that the slur is being thrown around by a minority. “[Brown] should understand that being a black man himself. He should know that the F word is just like calling you the N word in a very derogatory way,” Bass said. “When you come from a minority like that, being gay or black or whatever, it’s like there should be an understanding, like we all get each other. But you don’t see that a lot, which is really sad.” Given Brown’s brushes with the law — dating back to his 2009 felony assault of recently reconciled girlfriendRihanna — Bass sees the singer striding down a bad path. “I think there are a lot of people out there that have anger issues, and you can definitely see that in Chris Brown. I hope he gets the help he needs,” said the former ‘N Sync member, who now hosts a live SiriusXM radio show called Dirty Pop with Lance Bass. “I hope Rihanna understands what she is in. I see it happen so many times in couples, where it’s like an abusive relationship and you don’t know it’s an abusive relationship.” “I know he’s just doing some dumb moves right now,” Bass continued. “I think he needs to take responsibility for it. I don’t know if it’s drugs and alcohol and that type of stuff, but I really hope he comes to think that he’s really making dumb decisions right now.” “I think everyone can change, [and] I hope that he can change his tune. This was one time Annamae should have just left the cake alone…… Chef Kills Dinner Partner For Eating Before He Arrived Elsewhere in the world… via STV Glascow Peter Cumming was jailed for life for murdering Lynda Brown in their home in Glasgow’s south side. On Wednesday, Cumming was told he would serve at least 14 years in prison before being able to apply for parole for 14 years after admitting killing his 63-year-old partner by stabbing her four times in the back. The court heard that Ms Brown and Cumming had planned a dinner party and invited friends. When Cumming returned after buying ingredients for the meal, he claimed that Ms Brown told him that she had already eaten and this made him “really angry”. Cumming, who had an alcohol problem and who had previously been convicted of domestic abuse on Miss Brown, claimed they had words and “something snapped.” He told police: “I was in behind her in the bedroom and I had the knife and I don’t know where it came from I don’t know. I was out of control. It’s just not like me I am so in control. I need to keep things in control.” The killer said Ms Brown reacted to his anger by goading him and said he picked up a large kitchen knife and plunged it into her. Surprise, surprise… Poll Shows That Viewers Distrust Fox News More Than Ever Via Huffington Post Fox News’ credibility has fallen 9 percent since three years ago, according to new Public Policy Polling (PPP) results released on Wednesday. The annual poll asks participants to rate their trust in multiple networks including Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, PBS, Comedy Central, ABC News, CBS News and NBC News. According to PPP’s press release: Just like its actual ratings, Fox News has hit a record low in the four years that we’ve been doing this poll. 41% of voters trust it to 46% who do not. To put those numbers into some perspective the first time we did this poll, in 2010, 49% of voters trusted it to 37% who did not. Just like last year, researchers also found that Fox News is both the least trusted and most trusted network when compared to the other networks in the survey. Thirty-four percent said they trust Fox News the most, while 39 percent said they trust it the least. Other news outlets are not entirely better off. Thirty-five percent of respondents said they trust MSNBC, while 44 percent said they do not. When it comes to CNN, 38 percent of voters said they trust the network, but 43 percent said they trust the cable network the least. PBS is the only outlet that respondents trust more than distrust, with 52 percent of voters saying they trust the network, and 29 percent saying they do not.
