Why remake Footloose , an iconic film from 1984? For male movie fans around the globe, the answer is easy: Julianne Hough. The beautiful Dancing with the Stars professional takes on her first lead role in this adaption, which comes out on October 14 and also stars Kenny Wormald in the role made famous by Kevin Bacon over 25 years ago. He portrays a city teenager who comes to a small town and helps it rediscover the magic of dancing. Hough plays the daughter of Dennis Quaid’s Reverend Shaw Moore. After the prosecution rested in the Casey Anthony trial, the judge denied the defense’s motion for acquittal on the Florida woman’s murder charge. Judge Belvin Perry said the state presented “substantial, competent evidence” that Anthony’s daughter Caylee was slain and she was responsible. The defense now must proceed with its case on Thursday. Anthony faces three charges, including first-degree premeditated murder. She had no reaction in the Orlando court when the motion was denied. Her attorney, Cheney Mason, had argued that prosecutors failed to present evidence that a murder had even occurred, premeditated or otherwise. “There has been no evidence of premeditation,” the lawyer said . “There has been a stacking of inferences. A stacking of speculation. No evidence.” “There is no evidence to suggest when she died, where she died, how she died, who if anyone was in attendance with her when she died.” The state, he added, established only that “the child is dead.” In denying the motion to toss the case, the judge begged to differ and concluded there is compelling evidence Caylee Anthony was murdered . Her mother, while innocent until proven guilty, is on trial for a reason. Assistant State Attorney Linda Drane Burdick argues that Caylee Anthony died as a result of “three pieces of duct tape applied to her nose and mouth, as a result of poisoning by chloroform [and] as a result of a combination of the two.” Gruesome stuff to say the least.

She’s still alive as one of three finalists on this season of The Bachelor. But has Ashley Hebert already been tapped to star on The Bachelorette this summer? According to Reality Steve’s Twitter . For those unfamiliar with Steve, he is the WikiLeaks of Bachelor spoilers . No one knows how this stuff gets out, but it ends up on his blog and he is good. How on Earth was a contestant who isn’t even eliminated yet named the star of the sequel? We have no idea, and we obviously can’t confirm this now. We’ve always know that Ellen DeGeneres was comedic royalty. But it turns out the former American Idol host actually has some soon-to-be royal blood inside of her. Ellen revealed on her talk show yesterday that she received a letter from the New England Genealogical society and it told her she was a 15th cousin of Prince William’s fiancee, Kate Middleton. Who knew?!? Joked the comedian: “I’m definitely invited to the wedding now… Let me know if you need me to plan the bachelorette party. Because I found some straws that are shaped like… well, never mind.”
Brad Womack has played the role of a commitment-phone turned “changed man” well on this season of The Bachelor, his second in the starring capacity. But if the Texan does get down on one knee and propose to Chantal O’Brien, Emily Maynard, Ashley Hebert or Michelle Money, it won’t be the first time. At least according to Laurel Kagay, his on-off girlfriend of eight years. She tells Us that Brad asked to marry her several times – including last summer! DOUBLE LIFE : Laurel raises some pretty serious questions if what she says about Brad is true. But was there even any deception involved on his part? “Even when we weren’t together, he’d say how much he loved me and was going to marry me,” says Laurel, noting that Brad proposed right before The Bachelor . After spending the summer trying to woo her back , making comments to the effect of “I will marry you right now,” he left to star on the ABC show a second time. THG NOTE : If Laurel Kagay looks familiar, it’s because she also dated Wes Hayden, and was his rumored “girl back home” while he was on The Bachelorette . Wes denied he and Laurel were an item at the time of the show, despite a major hatchet job by the producers (and Jake Pavelka) to convince us otherwise.
