‘Cabin In The Woods’ Cast Talks ‘Thrilling’ Death Scenes

At South by Southwest film festival, star Jesse Williams says Joss Whedon’s horror flick is ‘both awesome and terrifying at the same time.’ By Kara Warner What’s a horror movie without a few sensational death scenes? One that could be described as less-than-satisfactory by the gung ho gore fans out there. And although there is a lot of secrecy surrounding the action in “The Cabin in the Woods,” it is not spoiling anything to say that there might be a gory death or two. When MTV News caught up with castmembers Anna Hutchison, Jesse Williams and Kristen Connolly at the film’s South by Southwest film festival press day, we asked them to describe how the deaths in the Joss Whedon-penned, Drew Goddard-directed film are different from what we’ve seen onscreen before. “I think people get connected to the characters, but somehow I find the murders in this film are more thrilling,” Williams said. “You know the train wreck effect where you want to look away — something that is both awesome and terrifying at the same time? “Like, one time I almost touched a shark in the open ocean. I didn’t realize it was a shark. ‘I’m excited, but I’m going to die.’ So, those kind of things happening at once. Anna knows what I’m talking about.” “Well, lose a hand. I don’t know about die,” Hutchison offered. “It’s a bit dramatic.” “She’s from New Zealand where it’s like playing in the yard for them: ‘Go play with the sharks!’ ” he teased. “I think it’s both those things happening at once where you’re uniquely thrilled, but you’re going to miss that character — but that’s not saying that any of us die or don’t die in the end.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Don Cornelius Suicide to Result in Major Ex-Wife Payout

There’s a strange twist to the death of Don Cornelius. As previously reported, the Soul Train creator took his own life early this morning via a gunshot to the head, as his son discovered his body and called 911. But it’s another relative who will soon make news as a result of this tragedy. According to documents obtained by TMZ, the music icon passed away with a pair of life insurance policies in his name – and because the suicide took place more than two years after he signed them, they cannot be challenged by California law and around $300,000 will be handed out to Don’s ex-wife, Viktoria. Who Cornelius despised. The couple got divorced in 2009, following a conviction for Don on a charge of domestic abuse and an allegation against his wife that she pepper sprayed him on numerous occasions. Meanwhile, countless music industry folks expressed their sympathy for the Soul Train creator via Twitter, but we’ll give the final word here to Aretha Franklin. “It’s so shocking and stunning. God bless him,” the artist said. “He created a solid and broad foundation for young people and adults alike to socialize, dance and have good clean fun. He united the young adult community single-handedly… Everybody loved Soul Train and appreciated Don!”

Way Black When Honors: Leon Huff On Making The “Soul Train” Theme Song

In a recent interview with TheUrbandaily about his new album Groovy Peopl e, legendary songwriter and producer Leon Huff shared how he and his partner Kenny Gamble came to create the “Soul Train” theme song: Exploring The Sound Of Philadelphia ..It was a dance show and he[Don Cornelius] was very excited about it. He had everything in place, the only thing missing was a theme song. When he came to us he called Gamble, they communicated and he flew into Philadelphia. He talked about the concept…we didn’t have any ideas but I said me and Gamble will come up with something quick. We always rise to the occasion when it comes to a song. Seven Memorable Soul Train Moments [But] we went into the studio the first night and nothing really clicked. So Don Cornelius got a little nervous and I said, “Don’t worry. We don’t force creativity. Let’s come back tomorrow.” It was on a Friday,  I’ll never forget it.  The next day Saturday me and Gamble went back into the studio with the musicians and we grooved all day with that “dun dun dunnununua.” He was very happy. Everything turned out great. The MFSB orchestra and Three Degrees put it out as “T.S.O.P (The Sound Of Philadelphia) and it went #1. Their album and the single were #1 at the same time. Plus his show was red hot. So it was win-win for everybody. Don Cornelius coming up with that Black concept show to expose Black R&B artists was right on time. While Gamble & Huff’s theme song is the most recognized, it was not the first or only theme  song “Soul Train” would have. Take a look at the list of Soul Train’s opening theme songs. Soul Train used various original and current music for theme songs during its run, including: 1971-1973: “SoulTrain (Hot Potato)” by King Curtis (Curtis Ousley) and later redone by the Rimshots as “Soul Train, Parts 1&2″. [The original 1962 version Curtis recorded 9 years before the show was named “Hot Potatoes (Piping Hot)”] 1973-1975: “ TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia) “, composed by Gamble and Huff and recorded by Philadelphia soul studio group MFSB with vocals by the Three Degrees . Released as a single, this song became a pop and R&B radio hit in 1974 and the show’s best-known theme. 1975-1976: “Soul Train ’75″ by the Soul Train Gang , which was later released as a single for the newly formed Soul Train Records 1976-1978: “Soul Train ’76 (Get on Board)”, also by the Soul Train Gang 1978-1980: “Soul Train Theme ’79″, produced by the Hollywood Disco Jazz Band with vocals by the Waters 1980-1983: “Up on Soul Train”, first by the Waters and later by the Whispers , whose version appears in their 1980 album Imagination . 1983-1987: “ Soul Train’s a Comin’ ” by R&B artist O’Bryan [18] 1987-1989: “TSOP ’87″, a remake of the original “TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)”, composed and produced by George Duke 1989-1993: “TSOP ’89″, a remixed version of “TSOP ’87″, also by George Duke 1993-1999: “Soul Train ’93″ (Know You Like to Dance)” by the hip-hop group Naughty by Nature with a saxophone solo by Everette Harp 1999-2006: “TSOP 2000″, with rap vocals by hip hop artist Samson and music by Dr. Freeze , and again featuring an Everette Harp saxophone solo. However, a portion of “Know You Like to Dance” was still used in the show’s second-half opening segment during this period. RELATED POSTS: Don Cornelius’ Style Evolution Over The Years! For Your Viewing Pleasure: Photos And Video Of Bin Laden’s Dead Body May Be Released As Conservative Group Files Lawsuit!

Uh-ohhhh, Kola Boof might lose her husband-fawking mind if THIS goes down! The world may yet see photographs — and even video — of a dead Osama Bin Laden. The conservative group Judicial Watch has sued for release of the materials under Freedom of Information Law, and they apparently have a case, The Atlantic Wire reports. Former Justice Department privacy official Dan Metcalfe told the Website that a government brief in the case effectively concedes “portions of the records that are legally required to be disclosed.” That could mean redacting portions of the images that show U.S. military personnel or technology, but not the slain terror leader, according to the report. The CIA has argued that such a disclosure would “trigger violence” around the globe, Wired.com reported. After offing the terror leader in Pakistan last May with a “double tap” of gunshots to the torso and head, Navy SEALs snapped pictures of his corpse to show they got their man. The Obama Administration nixed conspiracy theories by showing them to a select group of lawmakers, who agreed that the “gruesome” photographs proved Bin Laden’s death beyond a shadow of a doubt. Keep it 100, don’t YOU want to see these pictures if they are released?? Source Flip the page for a gallery of a few of the “real” Bin Laden death pics
