Kelly Clarkson has had a wonderful career that has spanned over fourteen years. Clarkson won the first season of American Idol back in 2002. It’s crazy to think that she’s still as relevant as today as she was back then. Her career has continued to flourish, but Idol did not. The singing competition finally concluded earlier this year after 15 seasons. That’s a great run for any series. You’d think singing competitions would be a bit long in the tooth by now, but NBC continues to find success with two cycles of The Voice every year. Granted, there always seems to be some sort of rift with the judges on the show, but it drums up good ratings. Clarkson has enjoyed a lot of success throughout her career. She’s the first artist from the show to achieve 100 Billboard number 1 hit singles. Yes, that means the star has topped the chart at least 100 times. That’s not an easy task for anyone, so she deserves a lot of recognition for that. That said, Kelly is not about to forget where she came from. She knows American Idol gave her the career she has today. Joining singing competitions was the best way to get noticed in 2002. There was no Youtube for artists to go viral back in those days. Kelly took to Twitter to express her gratitude to the once hot Fox series. Kelly Clarkson Brings Everyone to Tears on American Idol “14 yrs ago 2day @AmericanIdol opened a door w/such amazing opportunities & experiences 4 me!” the 34-year-old singer wrote on Twitter on Sunday, September 4. “I am 4ever grateful & blessed! #heresto14more.” There’s every reason to believe that Clarkson will still be topping the charts in fourteen years. She really does have staying power and it’s not often an artist can continue to top the charts after all this time. Kelly recently signed a major record deal with Atlantic Records, so at least we know she’ll continue to release great music. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Welcomed Babies in 2016 She also welcomed a son in April of this year, but she will be back with new music very soon. It just goes to show that even though the final few seasons of American Idol were terrible, the show still served a huge purpose. It gave the likes of Kelly Clarkson a start in an industry that’s very difficult to become a star in. Clarkson even appeared on the final season of the Fox hit, but apparently Carrie Underwood was not impressed . Underwood was given a smaller segment than Clarkson. This peeved Underwood because she knows she is the bigger money maker of the two. What do you think of all of this? Hit the comments below! View Slideshow: 27 Stars Who Shamed Their Body-Shamers

Remember this incident ? Spring Valley School Officer Cleared Of Charges Last year a South Carolina school officer’s actions sparked a national debate after a video of him brutalizing a student over a verbal dispute went viral. Many believe ex-cop Ben Fields took it too far by dragging the peaceful young lady across a class room. His actions caused the unidentified student several injuries, including neck injuries and broken bones. Ben Field’s was fired after the incident. According to the Daily News , termination is the height of his punishment. Field’s supervisor Sheriff Leon Lott said Field’s actions were so despicable, he wanted “to throw up”. This however, had no effect to bring charges. Richland County Solicitor Dan Johnson said in a 12-page court report Friday that he found no probable cause to charge the school resource officer because the incident “looked worse on camera”. Johnson’s report includes statements from a slew of witnesses — one of whom said “the incident looked worse in the video than it did in the classroom.” The report also included a formal account from Fields himself and he appears to have no regrets about his outrageous actions. “I realized that I was going to have to physically remove the student from her seat to effectuate her arrest,” he said, adding that the desk only flipped over because the student locked her legs inside it. This is a horrible injustice. What kind of message does this send to students who want to speak up against police brutality? Continue reading →
Watch your sugar… Patti LaBelle Announces New Walmart Desserts After the success of her # PattiPies , Patti LaBelle’s back with more confection creations. The songstress/chef is debuting five new desserts at Walmart; three cobblers, a sweet potato loaf and an apple pecan cake. People Magazine reports: After the massive success of her sweet potato pies in 2015, the legendary singer has developed five new desserts which will be available exclusively at Walmart starting Tuesday, August 29. On the menu are three cobblers (apple, peach, and berry), apple pecan cake, and sweet potato loaf — a nod to last year’s pie that’s similar to banana bread. To help create the recipes, LaBelle drew upon family recipes as well as her own experimentation in the kitchen. “I’ve been cooking for most of my life,” she tells PEOPLE. “As you’re standing in the kitchen and you think of certain ingredients, you just put them in — sometimes they work, and sometimes they don’t.” The desserts — which LaBelle says are “for anyone with good taste” — are pre-baked, you just have to toss them in the oven to warm them through again. And the best part? “You can even lie and say you made them,” she laughs. (Duly noted.) Will YOU be buying??? WENN, Walmart
Maine Gov. Paul LePage left a profane voicemail for a state lawmaker asking him to “prove that I'm a racist” after accusations to that effect. LePage, a Republican, left the voicemail for Democratic State Rep. Drew Gattine on Thursday, according to the Portland Press Herald. The uncensored audio (below) contains several explicit phrases. A bombastic politician and one who does not mince words, the 67-year-old is a frequent target of criticism and magnet for controversy. Earlier this week, LePage doubled down on comments he has made in the past about the racial background of drug dealers in Maine. He infamously said that “90-plus percent … are black and Hispanic people” in remarks that went viral and caused a media firestorm. Subsequently, Gattine was identified by local media as having called LePage racist, though for his part, Gattine denies having doing so. In any case, LePage let him have it on his voicemail … “Mr. Gattine, this is Gov. Paul Richard LePage,” he says. “I would like to talk to you about your comments about my being a racist, you (expletive).” “I want to talk to you. I want you to prove that I'm a racist. I've spent my life helping black people and you little (expletive), socialist (expletive).” “You … I need you to … just friggin' … I want you to record this and make it public because I am after you. Thank you.” Be careful what you wish for? LePage apologized for the voicemail Friday, but said being labeled a racist is “the absolute worst, most vile thing you can call a person.” “I didn't know Drew Gattine from a hole in the wall until yesterday,” LePage said, and the accusation “made me enormously angry.” “When a TV reporter asked me for my reaction about Gattine calling me a racist … I called Gattine and used the worst word I could think of.” “I apologize for that to the people of Maine, but I make no apology for trying to end the drug epidemic that is ravaging our state.” On Thursday, the governor reportedly took credit for leaving the voicemail, and said he would like to challenge Gattine to a duel. “When a snot-nosed little guy from Westbrook calls me a racist, now I'd like him to come up here because, tell you right now, I wish it were 1825.” “And we would have a duel, that's how angry I am, and I would not put my gun in the air, I guarantee you, I would not be (Alexander) Hamilton.” “I would point it right between his eyes.” “[Gattine] is a snot-nosed little runt and he has not done a damn thing since he's been in this Legislature to help move the state forward.” Friday, LePage walked back the idea of shooting his political rival, saying that “Obviously, it is illegal today; it was simply a metaphor.” “I meant no physical harm to Gattine.” Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett called LePage's remarks a “threat” and said he is “clearly unfit to lead our state.” Interestingly, LePage is an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump, who was slammed after suggesting someone assassinate Hillary Clinton . Here's the voicemail in question:
Security Footage Of A Shootout At An Atlanta Gas Station On Lee Street Often times when people think of Atlanta visions of strip clubs, soul food, rappers, celebrities and True Religion jeans come to mind. However, there is a much seedier and more violent side of the A that you should be aware of if you’re coming from out of town… The video of this harrowing shootout is currently going viral on Twitter and the subsequent social media posts from the one of the shooters and the woman who was shot are even more shocking. Frank Ocean took just over four years to release his follow-up to Channel Orange, his Def Jam debut, over the weekend with the official release of Blonde. Although Ocean’s rabid fanbase is eating up not only the material on Blonde and also the visual album Endless, several people have been left largely unimpressed. Continue
It seems not a day goes by that we don't hear stories of escalating casualty counts in some overseas conflict. Often they take place in cities that most Americans couldn't locate on a world map. Just as frequently, these stories come toward the end of a nightly news broadcast, buried by more trending topics such as the Rio Olympics or a presidential candidate's latest gaffe. We're not saying that a caring, compassionate person can't also take an interest in the less consequential or more entertaining news items of the day. But we are saying that when a powerful image that makes the distantly political intensely personal, it's important to take notice. Omran Daqneesh is a five-year-old boy living in war-torn Syria. A photo of his stunned, bloodied face following an air strike in his native Aleppo has gone viral today. Like Alan Kurdi, the toddler who drowned in the Mediterranean Sea while fleeing Syria with his family last year, Omran has become a potent reminder of the immense human toll of modern warfare. For some, the photo is a vivid illustration of the urgency of resolving the Syrian refugee crisis in a fashion that will save as many civilian lives as possible. For others, it's simply confirmation that unimaginable horrors befall the world's most innocent humans on a daily basis. Regardless of one's personal politics, it's impossible to not be affected by the photo of Omran. The images and video of Omran show him moments after he was pulled from the rubble of a building that was decimated in an attack orchestrated by either Russia or the government of Syria. It's unclear if the boy has any surviving family members. Many of the images of Omran were shared with the international media via the Syrian American Medical Society.
