Latest Update Time Square Bomb: Suspect Has Nearly Escaped The U.S.

Faisal Shahzad was on a plane bound for Dubai at JFK airport on Monday that was turned back as it taxied for take-off. According to court papers, Shahzad has admitted his participation in Saturday’s attempted attack. He also confessed that he received training in bomb-making in Pakistan. He is a Pakistan-born US citizen. Shahzad has been charged with terrorism-related crimes which include attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and transporting an explosive device with the intention to kill. According to Attorney General Eric Holder, it is clear that the incident in Times Square was a terrorist plot intended at murdering Americans in one of the busiest places in the country. Shahzad was expected to appear before a judge on Tuesday, but he didn’t and there were no reason given for the delay. The Pakistan-born US citizen Shahzad has been suspected to have bought an SUV which was found loaded with an improvised bomb in Times Square, NY. The unexploded bomb has left crucial and significant evidence intact, which on the other hand was used by the detectives to trace Shahzad. Police traced him through the car’s ID number and phone records. The prepaid phone had also been used to call a fireworks shop in Pennsylvania. Regardless of his name being added to the government’s no-fly list earlier on Monday, Shahzad was still able to manage to purchase a ticket on an Emirates flight bound for Dubai and passed through JFK’s security checks late that evening. The custom agents realized that Shahzad’s name was on the passenger list just 30 minutes before the plane was due to take-off. They stopped the flight with just minutes left as it taxied to the runway. Even though the suspect nearly managed to leave the country, Holder still denied the possibility that could have escaped. Shahzad claimed acted alone, but the court documents stated that he admitted having attended a militant training camp in the lawless Pakistani tribal region of Waziristan. He also told investigators that the plot had started in December of last year. Latest Update Time Square Bomb: Suspect Has Nearly Escaped The U.S. is a post from: Daily World Buzz
