Source: The Washington Post / Getty The U.K. production of The Color Purple has been steeped in controversy after old homophobic tweets from the lead actress Oluwaseyi “Semi” Omooba resurfaced. She once wrote on Facebook, “I do not believe you can be born gay, and I do not believe homosexuality is right.” When she refused to apologize for her statements, she was let go from the production of The Color Purple and her agency. She proceeded to sue her former agency, Michael Garrett Associates, for religious discrimination. The ironic point of the whole situation is the character Omooba was meant to play, Celie, is known to be a queer character. Now, the author of the book in which the play is based, Alice Walker , is speaking out about Omooba’s firing. According to Shadow and Act , Walker defended Omooba’s dismissal from the U.K. production of her classic 1982 novel of the same name. “It is safe to say, after a frightful life serving and obeying abusive men, who raped in place of ‘making love,’ my grandmother, like Celie, was not attracted to men,” Walker said. “She was, in fact, very drawn to my grandfather’s lover, a beautiful woman who was kind to her, the only grown person who ever seemed to notice how remarkable and creative she was. In giving Celie the love of this woman, in every way love can be expressed, I was clear in my intention to demonstrate that she too, like all of us, deserved to be seen, appreciated, and deeply loved by someone who saw her as whole and worthy.” When addressing Omooba’s past remarks, Walker said: “Playing the role of Celie while not believing in her right to be loved, or to express her love in any way she chooses, would be a betrayal of women’s right to be free. As an elder, I urge all of us to think carefully about what I am saying, even as you, Oluwaseyi Omooba, sue the theatre company for voiding your contract.” Welp… The legend has spoken. Time will tell if Omooba will get the message.
Jana Kramer may finally need to end her marriage. The country singer, perhaps best known for her role on One Tree Hill back in the day, has been open for years about her problems with husband Mike Caussin. Specifically, he’s a sex addict who has cheated on Kramer multiple times. Has he really turned his life around, though? Is he over this so-called “addiction” and done being disloyal to his wife? Kramer now has a rather strong reason to believe otherwise. On Monday’s new installment of iHeartRadio’s Whine Down podcast, listeners tuned in for an open and raw conversation between the couple as they shared details from a recent fight. The fight centered around Mike having recently received a woman’s topless photo via text …. that he claimed to have immediately deleted, yet didn’t tell his wife about. The ex-One Tree Hill star later found out about it after going through Mike’s Apple Watch, which triggered major trust issues. “I see it and I know the right thing to do is to go get Jana, pull her aside and say, ‘Hey. I just received this. I don’t know what the hell it is but I just need you to know,'” Mike said on the podcast, prior to explaining why he withheld the text: “I was terrified to do so…Jana and I have had a really good run recently — like not a lot of past stuff coming up, we’ve been handling situations pretty well, handling triggers pretty well, talking things out. “It really felt like we were really building a lot of forward momentum…” Naturally, Jana jumped in, this discovery made her think back to Mike’s history of infidelity. “When I looked, I was like God damnit. I saw it and my heart just fell. It’s here. It’s happened again,” she shared while trying to hold back tears. “I’m such a f-cking idiot and I immediately called my best friend and I was just shaking crying outside and then I called the number and then I texted it and it was like: “‘Sorry hun, can’t talk on the phone. Do you want me to come over?’ and I was just like, ‘You texted my husband. I would love to know your correspondence. “Please from one woman to another.'” Uhhh, the woman who sent your husband a topless photo, getting a call from your husband’s phone, asked if she should come over? Doesn’t that tell you all that needs to be said, Jana? Apparently not. Kramer went on to say the messages got “really weird,” leading her to believe that perhaps it wasn’t even a real person — and then added that Mike’s deleting of the image was the most hurtful aspect of this scandal. “The deleting things — whether it was a fluke text — sends me right back to him deleting all the messages that he did with his affairs,” she told fans. “It’s just heavy. Mike then apologized for it on air. “I am sorry honey that I didn’t handle it the way that we agreed upon,” he said. “I didn’t handle it the right way for myself, for you, for both of us.” Meanwhile, on Instagram, Kramer revealed she and her husband were close to not airing the incident for listeners. Why did they choose to do so? “Up until a day ago Mike and I wanted to pull the episode completely and just not have an episode for today because it was that heavy for us,” she explained. “Instead I put my big girl pants on and started to record with Mike after a very long and intense 24 hours of not talking to each other.” “In the beginning of the ep I truly tried to put the acting chops on and play cool but it’s evident as the episode went on that didn’t happen.” Kramer concluded as follows: We decided to open the door into what happened and woah did we let it all out. Those of you may not understand the trauma and the pain around what we talked about and openly shared so please be nice and know we ended up keeping the episode because we hope it can help. On October 3, Jersey Shore star Ronnie Magro was tased and arrested following a violent altercation with girlfriend Jen Harley. Sadly, to those familiar with this twosome, this was one of those stories that registers as both shocking and not shocking at all. While it’s obviously never okay to blame the victim, Jen has committed several acts of violence against Ronnie in the past. Perhaps most notably, there was the infamous incident in which Harley actually dragged him with her car in mid-argument. So some Shore fans might have been hesitant to condemn Ronnie’s actions this time around. However, they may feel differently after seeing photos of the brutal injuries Jen allegedly sustained in her fight with Ron. The photos — obtained by TMZ and published by the site late Monday night — show large scrapes and bruises on Harley’s shoulder and thigh. Sources close to Jen say she suffered the injuries when Ron dragged her across the concrete driveway of the Los Angeles Airbnb where the fight took place. Not surprisingly, Magro’s team offers a very different version of events. They say Jen was behaving erratically, and when Ron attempted to remove the couple’s 1-year-old daughter Ariana to a safer location, she resisted him. Magro allegedly claims that Jen suffered the shoulder injury when she fell backward off a fence after he took Ariana away from her. He claims the thigh injury occurred when she clung to him as he attempted to re-enter the house with his daughter. Though he has yet to speak publicly on the matter, Ronnie claimed in a statement to police that Jen was heavily intoxicated on the night of the incident, which caused him to become concerned for Ariana’s safety. On Monday, Harley was issued an emergency order of protection against Magro, which prevents him from making contact with her until October 11. According to TMZ, she’ll be in court this week to try and have the terms of the restraining order extended beyond that date. Ronnie was reportedly permitted to reclaim items he left in Jen’s home, but only with the presence of a police escort. The order of protection dictates similar requirements should Ronnie need to pick up or drop off Ariana, whom he is not prohibited from seeing. Sources close to the situation say Magro continues to maintain his innocence and believes the truth will come out in court. A trial date for the assault charges against him has not yet been revealed. Some things just aren’t meant to last forever. Don’t get us wrong, Rachel Lindsay married Bryan Abasolo after a long engagement. But she and Raven Gates had a massive falling out. Now, Colton Underwood is trying his hand at feuding and suggesting that Rachel must just hate everyone . Rachel Lindsay’s falling out with former bestie Raven Gates was pretty conspicuous after Raven missed every stage of Rachel’s wedding. So naturally, when Rachel appeared on Watch What Happens Live this week, fans got all kinds of nosy about it. In fact, Andy reveals that it was the number one question that fans had to ask. They asked her about that more than about her marriage to Bryan or about her thoughts on Peter as the 24th non-black Bachelor in a row . So when it came time to take phoned-in questions, Rachel responded. Rachel responds my shaking her head in chagrin. “What did she do to cause your falling out?” Andy asks. Rachel protests: “I can’t say. I promised I wouldn’t say.” “But,” Rachel offers. “It was enough for me to not want to be friends with her anymore.” “And you’re still not friends with her,” Andy asks for some almost pointless clarification. “No,” Rachel confirms. “Not at all. And I never will be.” Addressing it with Andy only made people more aware of Rachel and Raven’s falling out. For some reason, another member of the Bachelor Fam decided to weigh in. “Shocker,” Colton Underwood wrote on Instagram, his text dripping with sarcasm. “Rachel mad at another person?” his sarcastic comment continued. He then quits marveling in non-surprise and poses a semi-serious question. Colton asks: “Does she like anyone ?!” (Raven and Rachel are both extremely hot, especially in some of the photos in this post, so you’re welcome for balancing it out with Colton) Wait, does Colton have a beef with Rachel? When did that happen? “I’m not weighing in on the Rachel/Raven drama,” Colton clarified. And yet … that seems to be exactly what he chose to do. “I could care less about that,” he emphasized. “Not my business.” He then explains exactly why he decided to pipe up about Rachel being some sort of Negative Nelly. “What is my business,” Colton wrote. “Is the countless number of times she’s spoke poorly of me…” Countless times? It’s good to remember that not every Bachelor Fam conversation goes public. He continued, accusing: “including that time she ran her mouth about me to Cassie…” Oh, yeah, we could understand why he’d be annoyed about that. “Funny thing is,” the previously virginal hunk concluded. “I have never met her.” Naturally, you don’t have to have met someone to have an opinion — even a strong one — about them. That’s sort of what the Bachelor franchise is all about. Sure, the stars look for love, but millions of viewers form opinions. Rachel doesn’t have to meet Colton to decide that he’s, say, not the right man for Cassie to marry. By that same token, Colton doesn’t have to meet Rachel to decide that she’s been uncharitable towards him. Maybe they should hang out and get to know each other. We hear that Rachel is down a friend, anyway. In the mean time, we’ll continue to wonder what in the world Raven could have done for Rachel to permanently excise her from her life. 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way fans have a lot of opinions about the possibilty of Evelin Villegas and Corey Rathgeber getting back together . It turns out that they may not have to worry about that — but about someone else snatching him up. Corey was spotted with Larissa Lima, who openly expressed interest. And now Evelin is trying to warn her away. Late Wednesday night, Larissa Lima shared a selfie after she ran into Corey Rathgeber. Though both 90 Day Fiance stars, the two were on different seasons and have very different reputations. But, surely they both just happened to be in Vegas at the same time, right? After all, Corey has shared other photos, particularly snaps of him with beloved 90 Day Fiance stars David and Annie. But, as you’ll soon see, this simple selfie may be much more significant. So, on Thursday, Evelin went off in her Instagram Stories, addressing both fan complaints about her and her thoughts on Corey himself. “All [Corey] give me lately is disappointment,” Evelin writes. She continues, saying that he is “clearly in a ridiculous desperate need for fame and recognition.” Evelin points out: “There’s only one more minute of your ‘fame.'” She concludes that post by admonishing him: “Stop being a loser.” One fan commented on the selfie of Larissa and Corey that the pair make a cute couple, and Larissa wrote: “I agree.” This clearly set off Evelin. “I love you Larissa,” she begins. “But Corey is way too boring and needy for anybody.” “And he doesn’t have money,” Evelin warns, clearly thinking of Larissa’s reputation as a gold digger. She then suggests that much about Corey “is all an illusion.” So, a quick recap: Corey and Evelin broke up after Corey saw a video of Evelin cheating . Producers prepared him, had him sign a mental health waiver, and showed him a video that upset him a great deal. According to a leaker, he broke down crying and then spoke to a therapist that TLC had waiting for him backstage. Days later, he blocked Evelin on Instagram, much to her frustration. Recently, he unblocked her and the two refollowed each other. Now, days later, it appears that they didn’t go much further than that in patching things up. Meanwhile, Larissa broke up with her ex, Eric Nichols, less than a month ago. Yes, Larissa said she’s so tired of men taking advantage of her. But it’s been a few weeks since then. Some people really, truly do not like to be single, and there’s more to that than just general horniness. It’s possible that Larissa is one such person. It took about this much time after her scary, violent breakup with Colt for her to join Tinder. We don’t know that she or Corey are each other’s types, but … you never know. And Larissa sounds interested. Obviously, some viewers have taken an intense, even excessive dislike to Evelin Villegas. One should remember that these shows are heavily edited. Editing won’t put words in your mouth, but they can show only the negative if they want. Also, some of the things said to and about Evelin were hateful, ignorant, and even racist. Some, particularly certain older female fans who would just love to get their hands on Corey for themselves, want him to stay broken up with Evelin. Everybody’s entitled to their opinions, but … how do these fans feel about Corey maybe hooking up with Larissa? On Wedneday, September 11, Larissa Lima and Eric Nichols broke up after a hot and steamy seven months. But it turns out that the breakup was not mutual. In fact, Eric has revealed that Larissa dumped him … over Instagram. To make matters worse, Eric has now found the perfect way to exact revenge. Eric Nichols (whose name was initially reported as Eric Foster) dated Larissa from early February until early September. Unfortunately, their breakup has not been as amicable as anyone (save those of us who get to write about it) had hoped. Eric has taken to his Instagram to share a screenshot of his travel itinerary from his Colorado trip, saying that it was the catalyst for the split. ‘After posting this to my story,” Eric writes. “She DM’d me via Instagram very upset, accusing me that I didn’t invite her, so on and so forth.” He points out that “she herself had been sharing excitement in her stories over the upcoming Colorado trip for the past couple months.” Larissa had made that clear to fans, he adds, “and was literally talking with one of my brothers about it THE NIGHT BEFORE.” “When I had put my phone down to shower and show my house to a future tenant,” Eric reveals. “I got a call from my mother about an hour later.” He says that his mom called “asking ‘are you doing okay?’ And she said ‘I saw a post from :&@:% on FB that you’re parting ways.'” “I didn’t think much of it,” Eric admits. “And,” he continues, he “said ‘I’m not sure, I haven’t seen it yet, but will soon. We’ll be okay, these arguments happen between us often.'” Eric notes that he thought it was an incident “like when she archives our photos from Instagram when she’s upset.” “Continuing my conversation with mother ‘Debie/Duke’ for another 20-30 minutes,” Eric narrates. He writes that he did so “not realizing when we got off the phone, I’d be going back to my DM’s to find multiple messages from my X.” Eric says that Larissa messaged him “stating a finalized break up on her ‘now’ terms.” “From there,” he writes. “I realized I was blocked and the apology DM’s were already packed.” Hard to make things right if you can’t get in touch with someone. Word to the wise: don’t be impatient. “Here’s the thing….” Eric tells his followers. “Lots of fabrication, secrets, stress, endless arguments, and hoops that turned into spirals.” “But,” he emphasizes. “There were some high level times.” We should hope so. The two were an item for seven months! ‘I don’t wish this girl good luck or bad luck,” Eric promises. “I just wish her a new boyfriend…. or husband,” he expresses. “In the history of an 8 month ordeal I am appreciative of certain outcomes,” Eric writes. He and Larissa both do this thing where they count both the starting month and ending month of a relationship. They dated for seven months. “All in all, I do want to give a big shout out to the haters who are instigator traders that balance out the positives,” he shares. “Lastly,” Eric concludes. “I want to give a monstrous THANK YOU TO ALL supportive friends who follow with love & synergy!” That is very sweet of him. But lately, Eric’s attitude has turned a little less sweet. He has been hanging out with Coltee — Larissa’s other, more infamous ex. Eric even spent time with Debbie and with the slot machine that Larissa so despised. This is a giant middle finger to Larissa if there ever were one. Some believe that Eric and Larissa were getting a reality TV deal that Larissa ruined with the breakup, which might explain his spiteful behavior. But maybe it’s just human nature. It’s hard to fall out of love without some bitterness. This is still a fresh wound.

The Little People, Big World star has taken to Instagram in order to share a new set of photos from her son’s recent wedding — and she may have done so with harmless intentions. But she may also have done so as a subtle clapback against some critics. Jacob, as a reminder, got married to Isabel Rock on Saturday, September 7. The two exchanged vows on a beach in Oregon and then celebrated the occasion with a reception at Roloff Farms. Who was on hand for this party? Everyone you might expect, from Jacob’s parents to all his siblings to his father’s very serious girlfriend, Caryn Chandler. HOWEVER, upon perusing all the photos released online by various family members, some observers were left with a pressing question: Where was Chris Marek ? Amy didn’t include her significant other in any picture or reference him in any caption and it prompted concern from a handful of her followers. Thankfully, though, she has silence those concerns with these brand new (and beautiful!) snapshots. “Just a few more photos from the celebrating the love of Jacob and Isabel from their wedding,” wrote the reality star as a caption to the above and below images. She added: “I’m so blessed. It was a beautiful wonderful day a beginning of a life long journey together.” As you can see, Amy never addresses the so-called controversey over Marek’s alleged absence, and it’s possible she was never even aware it existed. But it’s also possible she figured she’d shut these doubters up with basic photographic evidence of Marek’s inclusion in the celebration and leave it at that. Chris and Amy have been together for years and have often had to respond to engagement questions surrounding their relationship. It doesn’t sound as if they’ll be walking down the aisle any time soon, with Amy still reeling a bit from her divorce to Matt Roloff after almost 27 years of marriage. She’s obviously over it, of course, but simply isn’t anxious to be a wife once again. What’s the rush, right? If she and Chris are happy as they are? Jacob and Isabel, for their part, are also quite happy. That much is evident. He’s normally pretty camera or media shy, but he has posted the following now on Instagram: The past 4 days have been completely filled with love and family… September 5th on the cliffs of Neakahnie I married my love, @isabelsofiarock… The 6th we soaked it in on the coast and headed back to the farm to get ready for our reception on the 7th. Just perfect… I could write a long post I’m sure, but I just love so much this lady of mine, my WIFE, and this video will say a lot by itself. I’m still treasuring the freshness of it all.
