Atlanta hosted a Story Time session with Disney’s “Lion King” Broadway actress, Nia Holloway and HOT’s 107.9’s own, Mz Shyneka. In 2013, Nia was cast as in the principle role of “Nala” in the North American Tour of Disney’s the Lion King Broadway. At 17 years old, she became the youngest actress ever to nab the role. Nia and Mz Shyneka inspired the importance of reading and literacy, at the Barack and Michelle Obama Academy for over 100 Kindergarten and First Grade boys & girls. The amazing morning started with both Nia and Mz Shyneka reading the children’s picture book, Disney’s The Lion King as the students followed along with their own personal copy. WOW!! “This was such a meaningful experience for the students. Being able to connect the Lion King movie with the Lion King book and speaking with an actress from the Lion King Broadway show is exactly how we bring books to life for young readers and spark their interest in reading and loving books.” Tiffany Tolbert, Executive Director of Everybody Wins Atlanta. “This meaningful partnership is just be the beginning and we will continue the work to ensure these students are reading at grade level”. Photography / Radio One Digital Both Nia and Mz Shyneka are influential Celebrity Godparents for Saving Our Daughters’ Cinderellas Program, which is co-founded by actress, singer and activist, Keke Palmer; as they also encouraged the students why knowing how to read was so important for having a great education at their school and in life. After the readings, Mz Shyneka also had Nia sing a couple of songs for the kids as they were so thrilled! The special story time reading was sponsored by Kilpatrick Townsend LLP. Saving Our Daughters, a 501 c-3 organization which works with girls from multicultural backgrounds through theater, film, culinary and literacy, to help them to overcome the many obstacles they face growing up: bullying (cyber, gossip, face-to-face). Saving Our Daughters creates the tools as celebrity supported art programs, educate girls beyond the borders of a traditional classroom. Source: Tam D. Photography / Radio One Digital Everybody Wins! Atlanta, Founded in 1997, Everybody Wins! Atlanta is a local non-profit organization that pairs elementary school students at risk for academic failure with caring mentors who spend one-on-one time reading with them for thirty minutes each week for an entire school year. The program currently serves low-income public elementary school students in the Cobb, Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett and Atlanta public school systems, and is funded through grants and corporate and private donations. The organization also offers StoryTime, bringing professional performers, authors and storytellers into schools to use their creative talents to expose children to the world of literacy through action of the written word and audience participation. In 2015, they created a monthly Corporate Reading Day program which brings corporate volunteers to local schools in small group and classroom reading sessions. http://www.everybodywinsatlanta.org Source: Tam D. I don’t know if my body just, like, out of a desperate need to find a place for my anxiety or find a use for it, takes it and puts it there,” the Houston-raised rapper admitted. It’s a beautiful thing to have someone like Lizzo for women younger and, more seasoned, to look up to. The December 2019 issue of British Vogue will hit newsstands on Friday, Nov. 8.

How YOU Doin’?! Nicki Minaj Mrs. Pettyily Pulverizes ‘Demonic’ Wendy Williams

Source: Patricia Schlein/WENN.com/NBC/Getty  Nicki Minaj Mrs. Pettily Slams Wendy Williams Over Talk Show Host’s Comments Mrs. Petty is well— being petty . Nicki Minaj had yet another episode of “Queen Radio” this week and she SLAMMED Wendy Williams on the show over comments Wendy made about Kenneth Petty. As previously reported Wendy snarkily said that Nicki married a killer” and a “sex offender” while offering her congratulations on her recent nuptials. Kenneth Petty is a registered sex offender in New York and reportedly was convicted of attempted rape in 1995. He also served seven years for manslaughter after pleading guilty to the shooting death of a man in 2002. According to Nicki, Wendy’s comments crossed the line and she ethered the host as “demonic” and vicious” on Queen Radio. “It’s not about doing your job,” said an angry Onika. “There are people who report the news and there are people who do it with an evil intent in their heart, viciousness. And I pray for you because I know you’re hurting and I know you must be sick and humiliated.” “I didn’t know that in our society, you have to be plagued by your past. I didn’t know that people can’t turn over a new leaf. I didn’t know that your viciousness and evilness was this deep-rooted.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Barbie (@nickiminaj) on Nov 1, 2019 at 2:29pm PDT That’s not all, Nicki also brought up Wendy’s nasty Kevin Hunter split and noted that his baby news with Sharina Hudson. According to Nicki, Wendy herself paid for the baby to be delivered considering that Kevin paid for his alleged mistress’ lifestyle with Wendy’s money. “When a woman isn’t really being loved at home, the viciousness is a different type,” Nicki said. “So I really wanted to pray for you today, because look at where you are now in your life. Look at what age you are. You’re sat up there being vicious all this time, and paid for that man’s mistress all these years. You paid for her shopping sprees, you paid for her hotels, you probably even paid for her GYN bills, you paid to have that baby delivered, hoe.” “How you doin’, stupid?!” Nicki’s Queen Radio episode also included Nicki calling Wendy “demonic” and telling her to ask for “forgiveness.” “I know we’re human first, we’re human before we’re celebrities, we’re human before we’re personas. And I know you must have gone through a lot. But you are demonic, and that’s why this stuff unfolded. If I were you, I would go and pray, ask for forgiveness. You can report the news—people do it all the time—without the level of viciousness and trying to play dumb and doing all this nonsense.” Later gospel singer Tasha Cobbs Leonard stopped by to pray over Nicki’s Barbz. View this post on Instagram Thank you for tuning in to #QueenRadio. Love you A post shared by Barbie (@nickiminaj) on Nov 1, 2019 at 3:27pm PDT     What do YOU think about Nicki Minaj’s comments about Wendy Williams???

BET Hip Hop Awards 2019 Reunites With ATL

Go here to read the rest:

Source: Jevon Salnave / Radio One Digital The best part about Hip Hop, is the game may change including it’s players, but it’s always embraced the same. BET brought the BET Hip Hop Awards right back to Atlanta, but you know BET never comes back doing the expected. 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards is hosted by none other than Lil Duval, serving hilarious on a sliver platter. The Queen Bee, Lil Kim, is being honored with the I am Hip Hop Awards, which in my opinion was beyond befitting. Lil Kim has been a trend and this mogul has a a few tricks up her sleeves, with the unexpected guest to pay homage to Kim. All hail the Queen.   Source: Jevon Salnave / Radio One Digital Of course, Hip Hop Awards are bringing the legendary cypher’s, but this year we can expect a comedy cypher featuring Jess Hilarious, Chico Bean, Karlous Miller and Affion Crockett, these comedians were Wildn’ Out in this cypher literally. Had the chance to speak with Big Baby to see how he felt about his fellow co-stars from MTV’s Wildn’Out partaking in the 2019 BET’s Hip  Hop Award cypher. He thought Karlous would do a great job, but he wasn’t too confident about how Jess bars was going to deliver. Always expect the unexpected with BET. If you are a true Hip Hop fan, then I know you respect the artistry  of battle rap. For the first time ever BET Hip Hop Awards will introduce it’s very first battle rap and who else would be a more prominent person than Smack from URL Smack Dvd’s. That’s right battle rap has made it’s way from URL Smack DVD’s to mainstream. Respect the art. Source: Jevon Salnave / Radio One Digital Be sure to catch all the performances from artist such as Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, Saweetie, Da Baby, Anderson. Paak and more. who Is taking home the award for The Best Callabo and Single. I’m definitely rooting for my girl Cardi, but we will see Tonight  on the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards airing at 8pm only on BET.
