Whitney’s BFF Robyn Crawford Breaks Silence on Love Affair!

Source: Larry Busacca / Getty There has been speculation for years about the relationship between Whitney Houston and best friend Robyn Crawford. Well, Robyn is putting an end to all of the rumors in her new memoir, titled, “ A Song For You: My Life with Whitney Houston .” In the memoir, she speaks of the intimate side of their relationship. Check out an excerpt from the book below.   According to People Magazine, Crawford wrote in the book: From the moment Crawford, then 19, first saw Whitney (then almost 17) in 1980 when they were both counselors at an East Orange, New Jersey summer camp, she told her, “I’m going to look out for you.” And that’s exactly what she did for the next two decades as Whitney became a global superstar. “We wanted to be together,” says Crawford, “and that meant just us.” Whitney ended the physical part of their relationship early on, soon after she signed a record deal with Clive Davis at Arista. The singer broke the news by giving Crawford a gift of a slate blue Bible one day in 1982. “She said we shouldn’t be physical anymore,” writes Crawford, “because it would make our journey even more difficult.” “She said if people find out about us, they would use this against us,” says Crawford, “and back in the ’80s that’s how it felt.” And so, she says, “I kept it safe. I found comfort in my silence.” There was also pressure from Whitney’s family, including her mother gospel singer Cissy Houston. “Whitney told me her mother said it wasn’t natural for two women to be that close,” says Crawford, “but we were that close.” Their closeness spawned relentless speculation about Whitney’s sexuality for many years. “We never talked about labels, like lesbian or gay,” writes Crawford. “We just lived our lives and I hoped it could go on that way forever.” Crawford went on to say, “Whitney knows I loved her and I know she loved me,” says Crawford. “We really meant everything to each other. We vowed to stand by each other.”   Crawford is now a fitness trainer and lives with her partner, talent agency executive Lisa Hintlemann, with whom she adopted two children. Your Thoughts?

Source: Axelle/Bauer-Griffin / Getty KiKi Layne is absolutely gorgeous. Point, blank, periodt. However, this chocolate goddess went out and outdid herself for the  2019 Los Angeles County Museum of Art + Film Gala .  She showed up and showed out in style! The beauty of natural hair is all the incredible shapes and silhouettes it can take on. The way Layne had her locs styled and shaped – I’m here for it! It looked like an astrological arrangement – like a planet orbiting around two rings. So here for it. Her hair was done by Larry J Sims who revealed to Essence that he was “inspired by the Gucci dress that her stylists Wayman and Micah chose for her. The color on KiKi’s chocolate skin felt regal and royal. Her make up artist Rebekah Aladdin always makes her look like a queen so I wanted to do something grand that would complement everyone’s efforts.” Source: Gregg DeGuire / Getty This Gucci dress is absolutely stunning. It was green with floral embellishments and the end. She left her neck bare and wore small earrings to allow the hair and the dress to shine. Layne wore silver sandals to compliment the entire look. And while she didn’t adorn her neck with jewels, she did wear glitzy rings.

MODEL MONDAY: Youtuber Turned Model Chizi Duru Wants To Advocate For Pay Transparency Amongst Influencers

See the article here:

Source: Wendy Ngala / Wendy Ngala Name: Chizi Duru IG: @ChiziDuru      Agency: Self-Represented Claim to Fame: Duru started a huge YouTube channel after her dad encouraged her to cut off her hair and go natural as a pre-teen.  Black women are chronically underpaid . Studies show this is a fact across a number of industries but in creative fields it is expounded on by an intentional lack of transparency. YouTube star turned professional model Chizi Duru is committed to changing this in creative fields. “There’s kind of been this culture of keeping quiet about the things that you’re doing, how much you’re making, what deals you’re making, what does your deal entail,” said Duru in an exclusive interview with Hello Beautiful .  View this post on Instagram What's one thing you've learned to love about yourself? For me, it was my hair texture. Yep. I remember getting so upset at my hair because it wouldn't curl “the right way” and it was so. hard. to. comb. But now I love it! It all came down to being mindful of my thoughts towards my hair and learning what worked for it. Now she's my crown, a game-changer, and I'll forever be thankful for my 4C hair Comment below, let's talk! A post shared by CHIZI DURU (@chiziduru) on Sep 20, 2017 at 5:09pm PDT Appearing in campaigns for major brands like Burlington Coat Factory and Clarks she has been able to see the full extent of a company’s resources from a more empowered perspective. The infiltration of influencers into spaces traditional models have dominated has been met with some tension but Duru feels Youtubers can actually be assets to what she refers to as, “traditional models.” Cultivating a personal brand can fortify a model against rapidly shifting industry trends or missteps made by representatives . Many of the top models in the industry have cultivated a more personable approach to the faces on the billboards. “You can always use that to negotiate a deal for an even higher deal,” said Duru.  View this post on Instagram The goal is to continue to foster my self expression & individuality Rocking this outfit from @modcloth #ModClothSquad #SayItLouder @liketoknow.it #liketkit http://liketk.it/2wu6e A post shared by CHIZI DURU (@chiziduru) on Jul 10, 2018 at 2:20pm PDT “I definitely think there’s a bridge that’s being made,” she added. She wants her voice to be among those crossing that bridge.  “What I love about our generation and even the generation coming up after us is we’re more open and we’re like, ‘No we don’t have to keep quiet about things!’ I’m going to tell you how much I make so that you don’t ever get into a position where you’re undercharging or underselling yourself or you’re getting lowballed.” View this post on Instagram When you see your future husband walk by & silently thank God your braidout fully dried #happyhumpday #4cnaturalhair #naturalhair : @nvmwendy A post shared by CHIZI DURU (@chiziduru) on Sep 6, 2017 at 11:15am PDT She created an offline space to further conversations about knowing your worth through the development of the Afro Brunch series. “You need a community and that’s something that I didn’t have. There’s no books on it. Unless you talk to someone and ask them hey how much did you charge for this you’re probably not going to find that easily on the internet right now.”  She hopes her modeling work will allow her to use her face and 4C hair to add diversity to visual representation in mainstream media. She acknowledges that her level of influence allows her insulated from things other models experience. She uses that privilege to advocate for inclusion and consideration of women with “with darker skin and kinky hair,” when she is in the room with brands often pushing back on their creative visions. “Whenever you are in the room with just people you’re bound to connect in some way.”  Duru desires for her image in store ads and commercials to not only impact little Black girls but people passing by who might not see them as the standard for what is beautiful. “I just I think it opens up their minds as well to see that beauty doesn’t just look one way,” she said.   View this post on Instagram Everyone needs a break from their natural hair and I like to protect mine by wearing wigs. You always see the woman that’s in the forefront is the lighter woman and it’s kind of subconsciously tells you like ‘Well I’m dark skinned, I’m not always going to be number one kind of thing.’ And I think just being able to be representation for that little girl that has darker skin or has kinky hair and them being able to see me on tv for a national commercial with Burlington they’re going to go ‘Wow! So this is possible for me,’ and that completely changes someone’s mindset and what they think is possible for them, which is everything because that can change someone’s trajectory in their life in general.”  Tyra Banks inspired Duru to speak up for herself on and off set. Arguably one of the model influencer hybrids she addressed topics like fat shaming on her talk show the way Duru does on her YouTube channel. “She started gaining weight and she started gaining backlash for that and I just remember really connecting to her story, like I’m gaining weight too I’m not a figure eight.”  She started using the phrase “You cannot talk to me anyhow,” to formalize her rejection of other people’s labels and refusals to meet her standards. “Even if I’m not a two or a six or a zero you still can’t talk to me anyhow. It’s something that I said because it doesn’t matter how what size I am how big or how small or what I look like you still cant talk to me anyhow.”  DON’T MISS:  MODEL MONDAY: Nyakim Gatwech Is A Model With A Message For Black Girls MODEL MONDAY: Shawana Vickers Chooses Confidence Over Clout Chasing MODEL MONDAY: Erica Campbell’s Modeling Career Began After She Was Diagnosed With Stage 4 Cancer [ione_media_gallery src=”https://hellobeautiful.com” id=”3062746″ overlay=”true”]

‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Cast Gets Candid About Destiny, Immigration, America & More

Read the original here:

It’s been over 35 years since Arnold Schwarzenegger and his Austrian accent made their first appearance, in what some would say is his acting career’s signature role, as The Terminator. Fast forward to 2019, and Mr. “I’ll Be Back” is in fact back to reprise his role in the classic thriller along with Linda Hamilton , who played Sarah Connor in the original films — as well as newcomers Mackenzie Davis and Natalia Reyes . Terminator: Dark Fate is the sixth installment of the sci-fi action series that tells the story of Sarah Connor and a hybrid cyborg human trying to protect a young girl from a newly modified liquid Terminator from the future. I had a chance to chat with Mackenzie, Natalia, Linda and Gabriel Luna about everything from whether or not they believe in fate to filming one of the most intense scenes in the film, involving Mexican detainees being stuck at the border. On whether or not there’s a such thing as fate, versus each human creating their own reality, Linda said: “I believe a little of each. I sort of like to walk that line. It really is a nebulous question. I do believe that with hard work, kindness and pursuit of a plan that we really can create our own future.” Gabriel added: “My grandfather use to say, ‘If you’re not experiencing Deja Vu, that means you went off course at some point.’  But I also believe that this whole Universe is a hologram, and it will take the shape of what I desire.” What are your thoughts on Fate? Check out the full video above to see what else the cast had to say, and catch Terminator: Dark Fate in theaters today!

N.O.R.E Dubs ‘Jesus Is King’ Trash, Calls Out Kanye For Dodging Black Media

Go here to read the rest:

Source: Phillip Faraone / Getty Hip-Hop veteran N.O.R.E has decided to weigh on Kanye West ’s latest release,  Jesus Is King and the review is nothing short of comical. During an interview with Nick Cannon on Power 106 in Los Angeles, N.O.R.E was asked about his thoughts on the newly released project, when the “Super Thug” rapper frankly labeled it “trash” before poking fun at Kanye for what he deemed as fumbling the Clipse reunion. “I love Kanye,” N.O.R.E said. “I wanna be clear, how the f*ck you got Clipse on a record that’s not good? Jesus is mad at this n*gga.” But the album wasn’t the only thing that rubbed N.O.R.E. the wrong way about Kanye’s latest release, the Queens Hip-Hop veteran also revealed that Kanye’s lack of  Black outlets regarding the stops during his current press run to promote the album also made him a little upset. “I’ma be honest, I’m a hater. I’m kinda hater. Let me explain why,” N.O.R.E. continued. “Zane Lowe is a person that I respect but I don’t respect. As a person who made the War Report album, I’ve done records with Mariah Carey. When I see you ever go to any place other than us—the culture—I have a problem with that.” N.O.R.E may have an issue with Kanye’s press run stops, but Kanye himself has already let his Black fans know that their opinion really doesn’t matter. During his interview with Big Boy of the Big Boy’s Neighborhood , Kanye said he “doesn’t care” about Black Twitter’s opinion of him, only God’s, this before stating that he does care about white Twitter. ”I was having a conversation with Jay Brown and we were talking about everything and I remember I just went off and was like ‘I don’t care about your opinions. I don’t care about what Black Twitter or what anyone has to say, the only opinion I care about is God’s,” Kanye said. He added, “I am happy that [white Twitter] is a term, because I do care about it. I care about Jack Dorsey the owner and good friend of mine that comes over to my house for dinner, gives me business advice and looks over my contracts and respects me. He is my favorite founder.” Check out N.O.R.E’s interview below. — Photo:

Meghan Markle Gets Emotional: No One Ever Asks How I’m Doing!

Many of us grew up on fairy tales that conclude with the commoner heroine marrying her prince and living happily ever after. Perhaps the story ends there because no one wants to see the princess spend the rest of her life in a fishbowl, forced to endure a constant barrage of lies and speculation, all the while prohibited from fighting back by the strictures of royal decorum.   Of course, anyone who’s curious about the pains and frustrations of such an existence need only look at the life of Meghan Markle. When she first married Prince Harry , Meghan seemed to have it all. Sadly, in the year that followed, she experienced firsthand just how much vitriol the sight of a mixed-race royal brings out in many Britons — some of whom, shockingly, are members of the press. Obviously, Meghan has been black her whole life, and she dealt with racism in its many vile forms before she became a royal. But could anything have prepared her for hit pieces about how she ruined Harry’s life by marrying him and giving him a child? Is there any way she could have braced herself for the pearl-clutching that would ensue when some stodgy traditionalist declared that she failed to curtsy properly? The other royals may have done their best to caution Meg about the hard times ahead, but as they’ve never experienced such abuse themselves, they were ill-equipped to do so. For the most part, Meghan has endured this abuse with admirable restraint. But as much as the Windsors might stress the importance of a stiff-upper-lip, Meghan is only human, and she became noticeably emotional during a recent interview for an upcoming documentary about her travels in Africa: “Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging. And then when you have a newborn, you know,” she says gesturing to her interviewer. “And especially as a woman, it’s a lot… So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed,” the Duchess of Sussex continues. “It’s um…yeah. I guess, also thank you for asking because not many people have asked if I’m okay, but it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.” Asked if she’s “not really okay” and whether she’s struggled in recent months, Meghan says, “Yes.” It’s uncommon for any public figure to speak so candidly about the pressures of motherhood and life in the public. For someone as visible as Meghan to do it is incredibly courageous. Hopefully, the British tabloid press will keep this in mind next time they decide to dogpile her for repeating an outfit. JWoww vs. Angelina: Jersey Shore Feud Explodes on Twitter!

On Thursday night, tempers flared between two long-time Jersey Shore cast members. During filming of the latest episode? Yes. But also over social media during the airing of this latest episode. As the past two installments of this MTV franchise have shown, there is major tension between Jenni “JWoww” Farley and Angelina Pivarnick — and it all has to do with Zack Clayton Carpinello. This immature 24-year old got drunk and acted like a sexist buffoon several months ago, groping Angelina on the dance floor of a nightclub after JWoww (his girlfriend at the time!) passed out from alcohol intake. This wasted escapade was featured last week’s Jersey Shore episode. Then, last night , viewers witnessed the fallout of a sober JWoww waking up the day after this inappropriate action was taken… and being deceived by Carpinello in regard to what transpired. Zack placed the blame on Angelina and alleged that she tried to kiss him . In present day, after she watched the episode a few days ago and saw what actually went down between her then-boyfriend and veteran co-star, Farley broke up with Carpinello , writing at the time: “For 5 months I was kept in the dark about this. For 5 months I was naive, probably laughed at and made into a story line that will forever haunt me. “My heart hurts on so many levels. “One thing I learned from tonight’s episode is know your value. Don’t ever lower your standards.” Despite mostly blaming Zack for initating the flirting with Angelina, however, JWoww also had some harsh words yesterday for Pivarnick. Live-Tweeting the episode, Farley posted the following online after witnessing Angelina knocking on her bedroom door and joking about having sex with both her and Carpinello: “Grinding on someone’s man? Asking for a 3 some? Kissing someone else’s BF? That’s a blatant disregard of boundaries.” Pivarnick, for her part, insisted she was just being playful. “When I asked about a three some everyone knew it was a joke,” she wrote back, adding: “I even knocked on their door and was laughing … I never had a three some in my life and I sure as hell wouldn’t want one at 33 years old.” Farley wasn’t having it, though. “Oh ok that makes sense,” she replied. “Glad what you did was a joke, and u grinding on him was a joke… and u kissing him was a joke… BUT when he joked back, you made it seem like he was a creep and destroyed him in interview. Got it. Makes total sense now.” Jenni’s beef with Angelina here seems to be less how she acted with  Zack and more how she talked about him afterward. That is: Angelina was joking and flirting right back during the night in question… but then later made it sound like Zach was totally in the wrong and acting against her will. “Both are idiots but they instigated each other,” Farley told a fan about Zack and Angelina, explaining: “Only difference is Angelina gets to talk about it on the show… like if you were that uncomfortable tell me.. don’t tell others and text me how much fun it was.” Again, it’s worth remembering that all the actions here actually transpired a long time ago. Jenni and Angelina are just giving us their thoughts on what happened now, as the episodes play out on TV. And Zack is doing the same. “I made mistakes that I cannot take back, which I take full responsibility for. … I sincerely apologize to Jenni. I apologize to Angelina as well,” he wrote last week on Instagram .

Remember Eminem Was Endorsed By Donald Trump 15 Years Ago

More:

Source: PIERRE ANDRIEU / Getty Remember in 2017 when  Eminem  came out of his decade long hiatus to drop a drop a new album and share his thoughts about the state of the world? That same year, Marshal made headlines for dragging Donald Trump to filth at  BET Hip Hop Award s, which made many fans glad that the real Slim Shady was back. He rapped: “Any fan of mine who’s a supporter of his / I’m drawing in the sand a line, you’re either for or against.” Apparently, Trump was so shook by the hard lyrics that he allegedly sent the Secret Service to investigate Eminem. Let’s be real, Em is the only rapper to diss both George W. Bush and Donald Trump while they were still in office. Fortunately, the “Stan” rapper has grown and evolved over the years. So much so that on his 2017 track “The Ringer”, he expressed his regrets about the Trump diss, rapping: “If I could go back, I’d at least reword it / And say I empathize with the people this evil serpent sold the dream to that he’s deserted. I’m watchin’ my fan base shrink to thirds. And I was just trying to do the right thing, but word.” But did you know that before Trump was head of state, and before Em was a reclusive hip hop icon, the two actually had a normal relationship. Trump gave an impassioned endorsement speech for Em at the 2004 Shady Convention which was organized by MTV to celebrate the rapper’s new satellite radio channel. It sure is a far cry from how the Donald is feeling about Eminem these days. And too bad Marshal can’t actually run for President in 2020. Check out the video above. Oh, and Happy Birthday, Em.   [ione_media_gallery src=”https://globalgrind.com” id=”4237872″ overlay=”true”]
