Vicki Gunvalson: I’m DONE with The Real Housewives of Orange County!

Vicki Gunvalson was a mainstay of The Real Housewives of Orange County , and of the entire franchise, for 13 seasons. Then, for Season 14, she accepted a demotion to “Friend” in order to stay on the show … as a guest star . Many had assumed that this meant that Vicki was desperate to remain on the show and would accept whatever Bravo wanted. That no longer appears to be the case. Vicki has announced that she's done filming for the Real Housewives and is moving on. Wow. 1. Vicki is done! As you’re about to see, Vicki is making it clear to her fans that she has no problem leaving RHOC in the dust. 2. It started on Friday On Friday, November 8, Andy Cohen snapped a selfie, announcing that the Season 14 Reunion special was about to be filmed. “About to start filming the Season 14 #RHOC reunion. FOURTEEN YEARS!!!!!” 3. Vicki was on the hype train Sharing a glimpse as she prepared for the special, she captioned her post: “Are you ready to Whoop it up? I’m getting ready for season 14 #rhoc Reunion. #keepitclassy #standmyground #ogoftheoc #bravo #woohoo” 4. It’s been a complicated season Vicki was one of the very first Housewives, ever, and she reigned for 13 seasons. Only this season was she demoted to a mere “Friend” of the Housewives, losing her Orange. 5. Fans say that it’s beneath her One commenter wrote to Vicki: “Vicki, you need to be done with that show. In my opinion, outside of Shannon, at times, you are so much better than the females on that show. I had to stop watching many season’s ago. Mainly because of Kelly and Tamra. Please let it go and look forward to the life you have long wanted with Steve!” 6. Farrah Abraham to Jenelle Evans: Girl, Your Life SUCKS!

You know things have gotten bad when even Farrah Abraham is looking at you with pity in her eyes. Granted, Farrah is delusional, and she thinks her life is awesome, so she might look down on a lot of people who are actually doing just fine. But when Abraham offers words of sympathy and support for Jenelle Evans, they're well-deserved. As you've likely heard, Jenelle has filed for divorce from David Eason amid abuse allegations. And now, it seems she's found an unlikely ally in fellow disgraced Teen Mom alum Farrah. Of course, Farrah being Farrah, she couldn't pass up the opportunity to throw a little shade at her ex-rival when commenting on the situation this week. Take a look: 1. Better Days It wasn’t all that long ago that Farrah and Jenelle were both raking in six-figure salaries thanks to their cushy gigs at MTV. Both ladies also supplemented their income with side ventures such as sponsored content partnerships. 2. Hard Times These days, however, both moms are out of work and increasingly desperate for cash. Farrah was the first to be let go, having been fired from the network back in December of 2017. 3. An Interesting Career Path MTV execs justified the decision by claiming that Farrah had violated her contract by continuing to perform in adult webcam shows. But in reality, they were probably just sick of dealing with her diva nonsense. 4. The Nugget Affair Jenelle was next to get canned. And her termination took place under even more bizarre circumstances. The situation involved the death of a beloved pet at the hands of Evans’ famously short-tempered husband. 5. Devastation David shot and killed Jenelle’s French bull dog, Nugget. The act of senseless violence led to a CPS investigation that caused her to temporarily lose custody of her children. 6. Not Great Jenelle helped David hide his crime from police, and she defending him in public, even claiming at one point that he was not involved with the dog’s death. View Slideshow

The Mandalorian Review: It’s Good Star Wars

Disney Plus launched in the wee hours of Tuesday morning! There were plenty of good reaosns to sign up for the streaming service. In my case, they had me at “new Clone Wars episodes.” Those aren't out yet, of course. What is out is The Mandalorian , whose first episode went live at launch. To say that the first episode was “good” does not do it justice. Check out our review (and carefully crafted gifs) below and see if Disney's live-action Star Wars series sounds like a hit or miss. We promise that we've only included minor spoilers. 1. It’s a Space Western Usually, that would be a critique, but Star Wars has always had strong Western vibes, though that has never been exclusive. Environments like the cantina at Mos Eisley Spaceport on Tattooine are basically saloons, and in his first scene, the titular Mandalorian might as well have pushed through a pair of saloon doors. 2. It FEELS like Star Wars We’ll talk about this more once we get into the gifs, but this show really feels like it’s part of the broader Star Wars canon in a way that the Sequel films, for many fans, have not. The vibe here is definitely more Rorgue One, and that’s exactly how it should be. 3. Aliens are back! Anyone else notice how there are almost no new Alien roles in the Sequel films? (Holdo should have been a Theelin; fight me, Rian Johnson) Well that last slide showed a Quarren, a classic Star Wars species who share a homeworld, Mon Cala, with Admiral Akbar’s species. And then there’s this dude, an Alien with an extended speaking role. 4. Yes, there are monsters A huge part of Star Wars has been the existence of terrestrial perils unrelated to evil generals or Sith Lords or whatever the heck a Ren is. From “Sand People” to wampas to giant worms that live in asteroids, sometimes planets just have monsters on them. The Mandalorian knows this and we wouldn’t have it any other way. 5. It’s a BEAUTIFUL show This particular beast looks like a blend of a walrus and a hippopotamus, and we learn that it’s attracted to the spaceport area because ships dump their gray cargo — that is, their organic waste — which attracts a whole food chain of critters. Also, it just looks great. Shows need good budgets to be viable, and we’re glad that this show delivers. 6. The Mandalorian isn’t all action The titular character has some serious childhood traumas — including an apparent aversion to droids, but one that is not absolute. He also has tremendous respect for Mandalorian culture and traditions, many of which were nearly lost when the Empire (at first, the Republic) invaded Mandalore to oppose Maul’s faction of Death Watch. Justin Bieber Is Not A Fan Of Popeyes Chicken Sandwich: It’s Not Worth The Hype!

If you happen to live near a Popeyes or have driven past one this week, then you have most definitely noticed the ridiculously long lines.  The fast-food restaurant added their coveted chicken sandwich back to their menu on Nov. 3 and the hype has been too real.  However, Justin Bieber just completely shocked his 121 million Instagram followers by admitting an unpopular opinion on Thursday night.  He is not a fan of the delicious sammie . what the cluck?!  “It’s good but it’s not worth the hype,” the Biebs said, sharing a video to his Instagram Stories of the sandwich after it was half-eaten.  He gave three different sandwiches a try and said, “I gotta see what all this hype is about.”  “All this hype on the Popeyes Chicken Sandwich, let me see what we got here,” he continued. And while he wasn’t a belieber of the food, he did love one item from the Lousiana Kitchen — their sweet tea. “Sweet tea’s bangin’ though,” he wrote.  Well, there we have it, folks!  The Biebs thought this amazing, crispy, buttery piece of chicken was subpar — and we’re just really confused by his review.  Oh well, guess he’s hardcore team Chick-Fil-A.  In August, Popeyes released its super-popular chicken sandwich, which consists of buttermilk fried chicken, pickles and of course, a spicy cajun spread on a brioche bun.  It immediately went viral and in just two weeks sold out across the country.  According to US Weekly, Cardi B even traveled to two Popeyes’ locations on different costs to get a taste of the sandwich that was ALL the buzz.  But now that the sandwich is back on the menu for good, chicken lovers everywhere are maybe a bit too excited? TMZ recently reported that the highly desired food item has been causing mayhem and chaos at several different locations.  Apparently, multiple fights have broken out as customers wait in long lines, and sadly, one altercation in Prince George’s County, Maryland Monday night left a 28-year-old dead from a stab wound after he was reported to be cutting in front of people in line. To lose a life over a piece of factory-produced chicken is, indeed, sad.  A Popeyes spokesperson said the Maryland incident was a “tragedy” and that they were “saddened to hear about the senseless act of violence.” Ok, we know this sandwich is a big deal, but be careful out there, guys!  Their chicken is not going anywhere, so considering the dreadful long lines, and more importantly, Justin’s disapproval, maybe wait, like, just a couple of weeks until everything calms down. During an interview with Nick Cannon on Power 106 in Los Angeles, N.O.R.E was asked about his thoughts on the newly released project, when the “Super Thug” rapper frankly labeled it “trash” before poking fun at Kanye for what he deemed as fumbling the Clipse reunion. “I love Kanye,” N.O.R.E said. “I wanna be clear, how the f*ck you got Clipse on a record that’s not good? Jesus is mad at this n*gga.” But the album wasn’t the only thing that rubbed N.O.R.E. the wrong way about Kanye’s latest release, the Queens Hip-Hop veteran also revealed that Kanye’s lack of  Black outlets regarding the stops during his current press run to promote the album also made him a little upset. “I’ma be honest, I’m a hater. I’m kinda hater. Let me explain why,” N.O.R.E. continued. “Zane Lowe is a person that I respect but I don’t respect. As a person who made the War Report album, I’ve done records with Mariah Carey. When I see you ever go to any place other than us—the culture—I have a problem with that.” N.O.R.E may have an issue with Kanye’s press run stops, but Kanye himself has already let his Black fans know that their opinion really doesn’t matter. During his interview with Big Boy of the Big Boy’s Neighborhood , Kanye said he “doesn’t care” about Black Twitter’s opinion of him, only God’s, this before stating that he does care about white Twitter. ”I was having a conversation with Jay Brown and we were talking about everything and I remember I just went off and was like ‘I don’t care about your opinions. I don’t care about what Black Twitter or what anyone has to say, the only opinion I care about is God’s,” Kanye said. He added, “I am happy that [white Twitter] is a term, because I do care about it. I care about Jack Dorsey the owner and good friend of mine that comes over to my house for dinner, gives me business advice and looks over my contracts and respects me. Thousands of people gather in Richmond for the renaming of a street to Arthur Ashe Boulevard and the unveiling of an exhibit on the struggle for black equality https://t.co/uHxJwJEJOm — The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) June 22, 2019 The plan for the thoroughfare renaming has been in the works for several years and it finally came to fruition on Saturday. Loved ones, elected officials, community leaders and supporters gathered for the unveiling of Arthur Ashe Boulevard. Ashe has broken several barriers for Black athletes over the course of his career. The tennis star—who earned three Grand Slam titles—was the first African American player to be selected for the U.S. Davis Cup team. He was also the first Black man to win the singles title at Wimbledon, the Australian Open and the U.S. Open. His impact transcended beyond the tennis court. Ashe utilized his platform to spread awareness about social issues. He created the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health and the Arthur Ashe Foundation for the Defeat of AIDS. Earlier this year, the Richmond City Council approved a plan to name a stretch of Route 161 after the athlete. Hundreds of individuals, including Rep. John Lewis , were there to see the vision realized. “This is an extremely moving time for my family, but I think it’s also a tremendous success for Richmond as a progressive city,” Ashe’s nephew David Harris told ABC News . “We’re also putting a stake in the ground for Arthur Ashe’s legacy of social justice, which is good for all of us.” Cities across the country have been pushing their efforts to rename streets after Black pioneers forward. NASA recently renamed the street in front of its headquarters “Hidden Figures Way” to honor mathematicians Mary Jackson , Katherine Johnson , and Dorothy Vaughan for breaking barriers for African Americans in the space industry and pushing space exploration forward. South Texas Law Review Appoints First Black Editor-In-Chief

Just weeks after it was announced that Yale University elected its first-ever Black student body president, South Texas College of Law Houston has appointed its first Black editor for its law review publication, the National Jurist reported. 2L Kenesha Starling earned the esteemed role as the first black editor-in-chief of South Texas Law Review, shattering a nearly 100-year-old glass ceiling at Houston’s oldest law school. The institution is Houston’s oldest law school. Starling— who is working towards completing her final year in law school—has a lot of experience in both the business and law sectors. Throughout her journey, she’s balanced working full-time for a federal agency, pursuing her educational goals, and motherhood. In her new role, she hopes to bring diverse narratives within the legal community to the forefront. “Our school has a rich and impressive history; our alumni are Texas Supreme Court justices, judges, U.S. and district attorneys, and presidents of state and local bar associations, to name a few,” she said in a statement. “Our Law Review should reflect that same culture; it should be a leading resource for the legal community. It is not enough to be on Law Review — we have to increase our presence and open doors for all the law students who follow our stead as the esteemed South Texas Law Review.” Starling is fully aware of the responsibility that comes with being the first Black editor-in-chief and does not take her appointment lightly. She says she wants to do her best to open doors for others who look like her to follow in her footsteps. STCL faculty members believe that her appointment is a major step towards fostering diversity. Black women are stepping into leadership positions at prestigious colleges and universities. In November 2018, Kristine E. Guillaume was appointed to lead the Harvard Crimson ; making her the first African American woman to become president of the paper since it launched in 1873.
