Source: Getty Images / Getty Images A Chipotle manager went viral over the past few days after she was seen, on video, refusing to serve a group of black customers. Now, after having fired the young woman, Chipotle is rethinking the decision. In the clips, the unidentified woman smiles at the young men while telling them “You gotta pay because you never have money when you come in here.” “Can a group of young well established African American get a bite to eat after a long workout session,” of the young men, Masud Ali, tweeted. Adding a total of four more clips to the thread on Twitter, Ali continued to call out the alleged bias with this series of tweets: “Note how this employee said “we’ve seen you guys come in twice” and later say he never saw us in his entire life….. calling the police on loyal customers is super disrespectful and uncalled for. This unacceptable and I don’t appreciate these employees making false accusations.” “I don’t like how she’s laughing like something is funny. So when a WHITE woman walks in you change your policy of “show us income before you get served” ????? So @Chipotle gonna sit here and tell me I can’t eat because they think I look like someone that stole from them before?? “Notice how they complete ignored our proof of income. @ChipotleTweets I need answers. We show you proof of income because we were getting hungry and still didn’t get serve. Makes me wonder if I was ever going to get served from the beginning.” “So we need to provide proof of income but she gets her meal for free? This is beyonddddd meeeeee.” After Chipotle caught wind of what happened, the company terminated the manager, saying “Regarding what happened at the St. Paul restaurant, the manager thought these gentlemen were the same customers from Tuesday night who weren’t able to pay for their meal. Regardless, this is not how we treat our customers and as a result, the manager has been terminated and the restaurant has been retrained to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again.” It didn’t take long for folks to come to the manager’s defense, calling Ali out for an alleged history of dining and dashing. Now, Chipotle seems to be thinking twice about kicking their employee to the curb. “Our actions were based on the facts known to us immediately after the incident, including video footage, social media posts and conversations with the customer, manager and our employees,” Chipotle chief communications officer Laurie Schalow told Fox News over the weekend. “We want to do the right thing, so after further investigation we will re-train and re-hire if the facts warrant it.” “We have spent the last few days reviewing the evidence available to us regarding the incident in St. Paul, MN. Based on our review, we have offered our manager her job back. While our normal protocol was not followed serving these customers, we publicly apologize to our manager for being put in this position. We will work to continue to ensure that we support a respectful workplace for our employees and our customers alike,” Chipotle reportedly continued. Source: Erika Goldring / Getty Gospel artist Kirk Franklin is facing difficult times this week when he announced that his sister was sentenced to 30 years in prison. He revealed the news in an Instagram post saying “I now feel the weight of wondering if I could’ve done more…” It’s not clear what caused his sister’s long sentence. However, Kirk has been pretty public about the struggles she’s faced, including an addiction to crack-cocaine. In a 2015 interview , Kirk said, “For over ten years, my younger sister was incarcerated in a facility here in Texas. She was in love with a young man who was drug dealer. He introduced her to not only selling drugs, but using as well. When he was arrested for drug trafficking, she was arrested along with him. After she served her time, she was brought before the review board who determined she was ready to be released and brought back into society. The documents were signed and she was set free… but only on paper.” Kirk continued, “After a few months back into the free world, it became obvious to me rather quickly that my sister was still in prison. It’s what they call being institutionalized. She quickly started using again, becoming very reckless with her body, which turned into her using it as a means to pay for her habit.” With more talk about prison reform and harsh sentencing , questions do arise on if Kirk’s sister deserved her 30 year sentence in the first place. Is it because of distributing drugs? Using? If she’s been committed to an institution before, shouldn’t her intervention be in the form of rehabilitation instead of prison? Kirk has yet to go into details about his next steps following the intense news, but we’ll continue to keep you updated if anything major should surface.

I t is officially April 20, so happy weed day! Yep, this is the day that people celebrate marijuana, grass, pot, ghanja — whatever you call it. This is also the day that many people fight for the legalization of weed. In states that have legalized marijuana, it’s been a huge boost to their economy and created tons of jobs. According to the Marijuana Policy Group (MPG) , as of 2016, legal weed has created 18,005 full-time jobs and added about $2.4 billion to Colorado’s economy. Imagine the benefits if weed was legalized all over the country? SEE ALSO: Calls For Starbucks Boycott After The Company’s Weak Apology For A Racist Arrest In the meantime, people are still being very innovative with their marijuana and one particular strain of weed is a prime example. According to the Colorado Springs Independent , a strain of weed called Black Power is making a comeback. It goes back to the days when weed was illegal and “when millions of people, mainly Black, were incarcerated, ended up with the name Black Power if the dealer was sort of ‘woke.’ Some people say Black Power is a blend of The Black and Power Kush — or maybe, as others say, Black Domina and Power Kush.” According to the review of the strain, “Black Power tastes like pineapple and mint, as a heavy-hitting Indica that doesn’t leave you stranded or sleepy. It’s a dark green bud that lands on the border somewhere between the ultra-violet purple hovering over things in super-hot climates and a dark green pine color pushed a few steps further.” Sounds powerful and, if you want to celebrate 420, Black Power might be the way to go. The Colorado Springs Independent also spoke to Wanda James, the first black owner of a dispensary in Colorado, about the importance of Black ownership in the weed industry. She explained, “We’re talking social justice, we’re talking medicine, we’re talking jobs, we’re talking tax revenue, we’re talking school construction.” Sadly, as of 2017, out of the 3,200 to 3,600 marijuana dispensaries in the U.S., only 1 percent are Black-owned. So if you are considering buying weed — consider buying Black in the name of Black Power. Here are a few to choose from: The Hood Incubator, District Growers, Simply Pure (owned by Wanda James), The Canna MDs and The Hollingsworth Cannabis Company.
