Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka ‘Smash The Game’ On Ferrari Boyz

Check out ‘RapFix Live’ Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com for more from the duo. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame Photo: MTV News Jay-Z and Kanye West aren’t the only rappers dropping a collab album this week. As soloists, Atlanta’s Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame have taken their Southern-drenched sound worldwide, and on Tuesday (August 9), the duo released Ferrari Boyz, an LP Waka said was inspired by the people. “Fans were like, ‘Man, y’all need to do somethin’ together, work with people in the industry,’ ” Waka told MTV News’ Sway. “See, we could agree with one of the statements: We’ll work together, but the industry folks, they industry, you follow me?” On Ferrari Boyz, the 1017 representatives keep everything in-house. The majority of the album was produced by Lex Luger and Southside, both of whom contributed largely to Waka’s first album, Flockaveli, in 2010. As far as guest appearances go, the Ferrari Boyz didn’t call on any of their past big-name collaborators like Rick Ross, Diddy or Usher. Instead, underground MCs like Tity Boi (a.k.a. 2 Chainz) and Georgia rapper Rocko rounded out the track list. “Man, we just came to smash the game — point blank, period,” Waka said. “They chasin’ our sound, folks’ singles is on our sound, and we might as well just go ‘head and give it all to ‘em.” For Gucci, who was freed from Fulton County Jail in July after a three-month stint, working with his rap prot

Jennifer Lopez Speaks About Split From Marc Anthony

Lopez tells Vanity Fair she ‘remain[s] an eternal optimist about love’ in first interview since separation. By James Montgomery Jennifer Lopez Photo: Getty Images Jennifer Lopez tells Vanity Fair that she still “believe[s] in love,” in her first interview since announcing that she and husband Marc Anthony were ending their seven-year marriage. “Sometimes it doesn’t work, and that’s sad. But I remain an eternal optimist about love,” Lopez said. “It’s still my biggest dream. I am positive — determined — to move forward with my life, bring up my babies and do the best job I can as a mother, entertainer and person. I now look forward to new challenges. I feel strong.” Lopez appears on the cover of the magazine’s September issue (on newsstands nationwide August 9), and she spoke openly not only about her marriage to Anthony, but her previous high-profile relationships with P. Diddy and Ben Affleck. Calling herself “a hopeless romantic … [a] passionate person when it comes to love,” she added that, until recently, she rarely loved herself, a revelation she says lead to her decision to split with Anthony. “It’s not that I didn’t love myself before. Sometimes we don’t realize that we are compromising ourselves,” Lopez said. “To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself — if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me. I love myself enough to walk away from that now.” But Lopez adds that she remains close to Anthony, whom she married in June 2004 and with whom she has two children , telling the magazine, “I will always respect Marc as a singer and a performer. … We actually work great together, and he was always very supportive. … He will always be in our lives. He will always hold a special place in my heart as the father of my children.” Related Artists Marc Anthony Jennifer Lopez

Lady Gaga To Release Photo Book

‘Lady Gaga’ will feature more than 350 pictures by fashion photographer Terry Richardson. By Gil Kaufman Lady Gaga Photo: Getty Images Move over retired Oprah. Lady Gaga is truly the new Queen of All Media. Mother Monster announced on Thursday that she will be releasing a hefty coffee-table book on November 22 featuring more than 350 pictures of her taken over the past year by controversial fashion photographer Terry Richardson. According to Publishers Weekly , “Lady Gaga” will feature never-before-scene images of the singer taken during a 10-month period in which Richardson followed Gaga on the road, in the studio and everywhere in between as he was given complete access to her everyday life. The pictures range from the Lollapalooza festival in August 2010 to the final shows of this year’s Monster Ball. Gaga will write the foreword, and Jamie Raab, executive vice president and publisher of Grand Central Publishing, which is issuing the book, said in a statement, “We are proud to be publishing this remarkable collaboration between Lady Gaga and Terry Richardson and anticipate that it will be one of the most stunning, provocative and coveted books of the 2011 holiday season.” A limited edition of the book will be released next year. Some of the images Richardson has been taking of Gaga over the past year have already raised eyebrows. Richardson, who is known for his provocative, often explicit images, took some topless shots of the singer in February for a Supreme ad as well as the instant classic shots of Gaga draped in a version of her infamous raw-meat dress for the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan, which also featured shots of her male alter ego, Joe Calderone . He also collaborated with Gaga for the May issue of Harper’s Bazaar , in which he captured her on all fours in just fishnets, a nude bra and white boots on top of a mirror-covered piano. ‘Battleship’ Trailer: The Five Key Scenes

We see a whole lot of Brooklyn Decker’s skin and an alien ship, but blink and you’ll miss Rihanna. By Eric Ditzian Photo: Universal Pictures “Battleship” may be based on a board game, but the action flick’s first trailer shows an influence far more cinematic than anything having to do with little plastic pegs and the faux-sinking of tiny seafaring vessels. The new footage, which Yahoo! premiered on Wednesday (July 27), begins like an ode to a “Blue Crush”-ish beach make-out movie, veers into “Armageddon”-esque father-vs.-daughter’s-boyfriend antagonism, then explodes in an orgy of a couple dozen alien-invasion movie references. Totally original, this one ain’t. But it’s also pretty damn entertaining, and we really are looking forward to checking out the madness when it hits theaters on May 18, 2012. Until then, here are our picks for the five key “Battleship” trailer moments. Brooklyn, Obviously One of these days, Brooklyn Decker is going to get a movie role that doesn’t require her to parade around a beach in a bikini. Or not. One thing is certain after checking out this footage and taking in her performance, such as it was, in Adam Sandler’s “Just Go With It”: Decker, the Sports Illustrated model, has been typecast. In “Battleship,” she finds herself in the middle of one of cinema’s oldest relationship pickles: in love with a bad boy whom her dad can’t freaking stand. Clearly the relationship between the boy (a naval officer played by Taylor Kitsch) and the daddy (Liam Neeson’s no-nonsense admiral) will factor into the battle with these aliens. Let’s just hope it doesn’t become the emotional focus. Don’t Tread on Me Everything in the Navy’s military exercises in the big blue ocean seems to be going well until they encounter a hulking contraption submerged in the water. One unlucky dude (Kitsch) is sent out to touch base, literally, with the alien ship, unleashing a whole lot of extraterrestrial terror. The aliens, we’ll soon learn, are here to utilize our oceans as a power source. This one shot raises a bunch of questions. Why are the ship’s defenses activated by simple touch, rather than the proximity of the Navy? What kind of tech do the aliens possess that they can send a sort of shockwave that hurtles a man so far, so quickly? And what’s inside the ship that we don’t yet see? What a Big Bubble You Have! Speaking of alien weaponry, the ship is capable of unleashing some kind of bubble force field that encompasses an enemy and, so it seems, destroys everything within it. We’ll just ignore, for now, how the bubble reminds us of that containment unit in “The Simpsons Movie.” Instead, let’s concentrate on the alien tech. We’re hoping for originality and cool visuals to join forces and deliver us a satisfying early summer movie experience. The bubble, perhaps, is the harbinger of fun, absurd, eye-popping stuff to come. She Needs an Umbrella “Battleship” marks Rihanna’s big-screen debut . In the trailer, blink and you miss her. But she’s there, standing up in a raft and looking wet as the alien craft flies overhead. She certainly looks freaked out. But we can’t yet get a sense of her acting chops from this footage; and hey, we might not be able to even after this popcorn flick’s credits roll. All we can say for now is she had a blast on the production. “Working with [director] Peter Berg is unbelievable,” she told us last fall. “I love doing movies now. It’s something I want to do more of. I just want to pick films that are wise for me and roles that I can pull off, nothing that is too big for me.” Taking Flight We have to say we’re surprised how much of the alien ship we get to see in this first trailer. We see how it’s a craft that can both plunge into the water and also take flight. We see how it can transform and shift and hover; quite a lot of control, those aliens have on this sucker. We see its cylinder-shaped weaponry. We see the front of the ship almost seems to have a face. So the question is: How much did filmmakers hold back? We haven’t, for instance, seen the aliens themselves. With so many alien flicks hitting theaters each year, it’s getting harder and harder to surprise audiences with those creatures. Can “Battleship” do it? Stay tuned. Check out everything we’ve got on “Battleship.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . ‘Star Trek 2′ Close To Locking In Director J.J. Abrams

Since finishing ‘Super 8,’ Abrams working on ‘Trek 2′ script. By Terri Schwartz JJ Abrams Photo: Getty Images Trekkies and J.J. Abrams fans alike can rejoice, for the “Super 8″ director is at long last close to committing to helm “Star Trek 2.” Now that Abrams can no longer use his stock answer — “The truth is that my focus has been so much on finishing ‘Super 8′ ” — to avoid giving any “Star Trek 2″ updates, Deadline has confirmed that he is working with the flick’s writers and is close to committing to direct the sequel to his hit “Star Trek” reboot. This must have been the “announcement” Abrams promised MTV News would be coming “soon” back at the “Super 8″ premiere in June. But it also means that the film will miss its intended June 29, 2012, release date. That’s good news for “G.I. Joe: Cobra Rises,” though, which Deadline is calling “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” The entertainment news site has learned that Paramount is planning on giving the June release date to the “G.I. Joe” sequel and slating “Star Trek 2″ for either winter 2012 or summer 2013. Either way, Paramount has agreed to be ready to jump into production on the flick whenever Abrams is. Abrams is now sitting down with writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman to polish up the “Star Trek 2″ script, which Deadline is guessing will begin production in January. MTV News caught up with Damon Lindelof at San Diego Comic-Con, where he chatted about the current status of the script. “There was a lot of work going on over the course of the last year between Bob [Orci] and Alex [Kurtzman] and I,” Lindelof said. “We generated, like, a 90-page half-script half-treatment based on some meetings that we’ve had with J.J. [Abrams]. Now that J.J. is finally finished with ‘Super 8,’ we’ve kind of, not thrown out that material, but we’re reworking a lot of it.” He added that the final product of the script will hopefully improve upon the sequel the same way “Batman Begins” improved upon “The Dark Knight.” ” ‘Trek 2′ has to be better than ‘Trek 1,’ ” Lindelof said. “It has to.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Star Trek 2.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

The group, led by rappers Telli and Ben “The Bartman” Robey, exemplify their eclectic sound on the tape’s lead single, “Mosh Pit.” Sparse rhymes are chanted over the Partysquad-produced, riot-inducing cut while the song’s electric hook (“Jump in a mosh pit, break your neck”) is sure to get crowds riled up. The tape’s other selections are just as kinetic, especially the sped-up “In and Out.” “We come from a mixed-genre place, and one of our places is the electronic world, where we go 100-something [beats per minute] and better,” Bartman said of the group’s penchant for riding super-fast beats. “140 bpm over songs and we just rap at accelerated rates, and this is one of the records that we use to showcase that ability.” ” No Swords or Masks is our strongest body of work, consisting of original songs that express every aspect of what Ninjasonik represents,” Telli said in a press release issued to Mixtape Daily. “We tapped into so many genres of music, really giving a fresh perspective on hip-hop.” Joints to Check For “In and Out” – “It’s to really let people know that we’re here and we aren’t going nowhere. ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ Will ‘Exceed’ Fans’ Expectations

Director Jon Favreau tells MTV News there’s much more to the movie than the ‘silly’ title may suggest. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Jon Favreau Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images When news broke that “Iron Man” director Jon Favreau had wrangled two of the biggest names in the action-movie business — Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig — to star in his intriguing genre mash-up “Cowboys & Aliens,” that and a compelling premise proved to be enough to send scores of fanboys online seeking advanced tickets. But though there’s lots of early buzz from the marquee names associated with “Aliens” (mega-watt producers Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard are also onboard), Favreau recently admitted to MTV News that he felt pressure to deliver something extraordinary for fans. “Of course, with Ron Howard and Steven Spielberg [producing], I’m in real good hands,” Favreau said about overcoming the challenges of establishing just the right tone for the movie. “I learned a tremendous amount from them, and I think when you cast Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig — with ‘Bond’ and ‘Indy,’ those are two franchises that are fun but not silly,” he added about Craig’s 007 and Ford’s “Indiana Jones” series. “And I think that if people take a clue from who I cast in the film as to how it’s going to play, it’s a good indicator,” he explained. Favreau went on to say that there’s far more to the film than what the title suggests. “I think [moviegoers] hear the name ‘Cowboys and Aliens,’ it sounds kind of silly, but it also sounds compelling and interesting,” he said. “So if they give it a chance, they’ll see it’s a fun movie, it’s an exciting movie, and I think it’s going to exceed their expectations.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Cowboys & Aliens.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . Kristen Stewart Feels ‘Strong’ In ‘Snow White’ Armor

At Comic-Con, ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ cast preview costumes. By Terri Schwartz Kristen Stewart at 2011 Comic-Con Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images SAN DIEGO — Kristen Stewart may be the fairest of them all, but her Snow White that was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday (July 23) certainly doesn’t look like a damsel in distress. The “Twilight Saga” actress took to the stage to promote “Snow White and the Huntsman” in Hall H alongside her co-stars Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron and Sam Claflin, producer Joe Roth and director Rupert Sanders. Unfortunately, there was no footage to show since the flick doesn’t start shooting until next week, but the cast did bring some first looks at the costume design and general feel of the movie. Stewart’s Snow White doesn’t have a yellow and blue dress, and there’s not a bow to be seen. Instead, she was decked out in a full suit of armor and sported a giant shield with a white tree emblazoned on it. Her Prince Charming, played by Claflin, was similarly dressed, though he teased that his prince was not as sweet as he might have been in previous incarnations. As the titular Huntsman, Hemsworth looked a bit ragged and dirty with his axe and commoner’s clothes. When asked what it took to get him in costume for that, he joked that it required “about four or five of hours of rolling around in the mud, four days of drinking” and for the clothes to be dug up “from the backyard in Australia.” The evil stepmother, played by Theron, was as imposing as anyone could have been hoped for. Theron looked like a more badass version of the evil queen from the classic Disney cartoon, with a braided blonde coif on her head and a dagger in hand. “This, as a fable, she sort of just starts off as a bad person, so it was important to understand [why she is the way she is],” Theron explained about her character. “A lot of her circumstances will kind of bleed into her actions … She’s a serial killer; I’m pretty much preparing to play a serial killer.” This will be one of Stewart’s first roles outside of “The Twilight Saga,” and Roth said part of the draw of casting her was to be the one who helped her expand as an actress. For Stewart, it was the chance to play a tougher role. “It’s not a little girl sitting by a well with little tweety birds telling her what to do and where to go,” she said of her character. “[The costume] makes you feel kind of strong occasionally, sometimes, but I kind of feel tiny, my pinhead sticks out of these enormous things.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Snow White and the Huntsman.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
