Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty Chicago rapper Lil Reese , born Tavares Taylor, was shot in the neck Monday (Nov. 11) afternoon. After being rushed to the hospital, he is in critical condition. Reese was reportedly shot in the neck while in his car about 40 or so minutes outside of Chicago in Illinois. Per WGNTV , the incident occurred at a busy intersection in Markham and Country Club Hills at 167 th Street and Pulaski Road. Cops responded at about 2:30pm. Reese has been listed as in critical condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. According to witnesses, Reese was being pursued by another driver during a car chase. Reportedly up to a dozen gunshots were heard during the chase. According to witnesses, the driver in pursuit got out of his car and shot Reese with what appeared to be a small rifle before fleeing. According to the police, blood was spotted on the driver’s side of a car. However, someone had transported Reese to a hospital in Hazel Crest, where he was stabilized before being transferred to Advocate Christ. The organization hosted events at Neuehouse and other locations throughout Manhattan as well as an Awards Gala where individuals like MJ Rodriguez showed up in style . Attendees to the festival, however, got a star studded surprise when Kanye West stepped on stage. He spoke about sustainable fashion , bringing jobs back to the U.S. via Yeezy and more. The crowd of more than 500 people were engaged and interested in what the rapper turned fashion designer had to say. He was alongside Yeezy sneaker designer Steven Smith, who showed off the latest Yeezy sneakers that are made out of algae. Kanye West will be running for president in 2024 and in the meantime, he will be creating jobs within the next two years via his Yeezy Headquarters. The headquarters are being moved to Cody, Wyoming, where West bought a $14 million, 4,000 acre ranch in September to house his operations. Smith co-signed the operation stating, “People thought Ye was blowing smoke two weeks ago when he said that. We’re going to start manufacturing in the U.S. We’re going to bring jobs back here. We’re going to make Yeezys in America.” Yeezy headquarters will be focused on sustainable practices in fashion, but it was not confirmed he will be making them on the property. A Naperville Buffalo Wild Wings is under intense scrutiny after a group of patrons decided to leave after being asked to move tables because a regular customer didn’t want blacks sitting nearby. According to Chicago Tribune reports: Justin Vahl and Marcus Riley said they visited the Buffalo Wild Wings on 75th Street east of Route 59 to celebrate a child’s birthday about 8:30 p.m. Oct. 26. He was the first in his group to arrive at the restaurant, Vahl said, and he initially told the host he needed seating for 15 people. As the staff was setting up the tables, he said he realized he’d miscounted and went to the tables to discuss adding more chairs for three more kids. Vahl returned to the waiting area, where the host — who Vahl described as a young black man — asked, “What race are you?” Vahl asked why it mattered. He said the host explained that one of the restaurant’s regular customers seated nearby “doesn’t want black people sitting near him.” “I’m not going to let a customer dictate where we sit,” Vahl said, and he told the host to seat the party at the table. Vahl said a manager then approached the group shortly after speaking with the regular customer and his guest. The manager told Vahl’s group they needed to move because the tables had been reserved by another party of 18. A reporter from the Naperville Sun called the restaurant after the incident and was told the Naperville location does not take reservations. So… Obviously somebody was LYING. After multiple managers attempted to get their group to move, Vahl said the six adults in the group opted to go to another restaurant — but that move prompted questions from their children, making the already painful experience even worse. “I’ve never in my entire life experienced something like. To have my children go through that, it brought me to tears,” Riley said. SAD AF. This is Trump’s ‘MeriKKKa y’all. Our children aren’t safe. Claire Kudlata, coordinator of brand communications, said in an email to the Tribune that Buffalo Wild Wings has zero tolerance for discrimination: “We take this alleged incident very seriously and are conducting a thorough, internal investigation,” Kudlata said in the email. “We’re in direct communication with the guest to understand their account of what happened and to offer our deepest apologies for any unacceptable behavior.” Deepest apologies? In a statement following the alleged incident, the reality star’s attorney, Scott E. Leemon, said the following: “The reporting of the alleged incident relating to Ronnie Magro yesterday is based upon pure speculation and innuendo. “We are currently conducting our own investigation and will have no further comment until that has been concluded.” Still, authorities granted Harley an order of protection against Ronnie. He wasn’t allowed near Jen or Ariana until a hearing this past Friday, at which time the order expired and was not renewed. For his part, Ronnie claims Jen was the one who was wasted and that he feared she might harm their daughter. He says that he was simply acting like a protective father by stealing Ariana away from her mom on the night in question. Neither Harley nor Magro has directly commented on the confrontation. But both have now been arrested in conjunction with alleged violence against the other, with Jen having dragged Ronnie down the street by her car last summer and then hurled an ashtray at his head this past New Year’s Eve. They seem to bring out the worst in each othere. Incredibly, this most recent incident came just hours after the pair — who have had a very tumultuous relationship since they started dating in 2017 — attended the launch party for his Verge CBD line in West Hollywood. “Honestly, even though everyone thinks we’re toxic, she really does balance me out,” he said at the time… which, again, was hours prior to his arrest. Added Ronnie at this time: “She really does keep me level because with her I have her and the baby, which is a family, which is what I want at the end of the day.” Thankfully, the couple has since broken up. According to WILX News , an 8-year-old from Michigan was banned from having her annual school picture taken because her braided bun was dyed red. See, according to officials from Paragon Charter Academy in Jackson, MI, claim Marian Scott went against the school’s policy of wearing only “natural hair tones.” Yet, Marian Scott’s father is speaking out, saying his daughter felt “singled out.” “It’s upsetting,” Doug Scott said, crying to WILX News about the treatment his child endured. He added “All of this is uncalled for, they didn’t even call us.” “Marian didn’t leave the house, go on the street and get this done on her own, no – she’s 8 years old, we did this ourselves in our own home and there’s no way I felt like this would happen.” While this may be the rule, Scott pointed out that the punishment for it isn’t clear. That, and while she wasn’t allowed to take the picture, she was allowed to return to class. “If they would have reached out to us and say come get her…she’s got a hair issue, we need you to change it, that’s not allowed – I would have been fine with why this happened but they didn’t reach out to us,” said Scott. “They let her stay in school… so if she’s not a disruption to the class, then why is she a disruption to the picture?” The school claims it sent an email about the policy, but Scott says he didn’t see it, and if he had he would have told his daughter’s mother to not add the color to her hair. But he is glad that people are now seeing what is going on at this school. In the meantime, the Scotts don’t plan on taking her out of the school and have rescheduled for Marianne to get picture re-taken on November 12th. Regardless of this rule, it’s problematic that it exists in the first place and as we know, these types of grooming policies disproportionately affect Black girls and teens. But if this makes you upset, please know that there is something you can do about it now. Right now, in 48 states it is legal to discriminate against natural hairstyles at school and in the workplace. While the state of California passed The Crown Act earlier this year, it’s not a federal law across the board, but it can be if we speak out. That, and if we sign The CROWN Act petition urging the legislature to vote on it. Our hair shouldn’t be looked at a distraction, it has nothing to do with learning and punishing Black girls for how they choose to wear their hair has to stop. Now. Let’s get ready to rumble! Timothée Chalamet stars in a new battle for the crown movie called The King that is hitting Netflix later this month. Based on the Shakespeare play we see Timothée as King Henry V bicker and combat with his father for making England fight his unjust battles only to reluctantly take the crown once his father becomes ill. After that, a series of events happen that send the new King back to the battlefield to fight for his life. I had the opportunity to fly to New York City to sit down with the Oscar-nominated actor and the film’s director David Michôd to talk about The King. Chalamet broke down his process for rehearsing his loud monologues. “I just try to get the words down. I think it’s the kind of thing on the day, but I’m lucky enough to have done a lot of theater. I think I knew to do that speech in a hotel room but it was never going to be an authentic experience of the day of having 300 guys in front of you and trying to rile them up.” Timothee goes on to explain that he never yelled his dramatic war cry monologue prior to filming the scene. Then he shares a funny story about how all the extras in that scene didn’t understand English so they had no clue what he was actually saying. David who not only directed this film but also co-wrote it, broke down how they used a more modern language than the Shakespeare play while still keeping stellar wordplay for the actors, but the highlight of the entire interview was hearing Timothée Chalamet break down New York slang in order to describe The King on Netflix.

The student, a young Black girl named Marian Scott was sent back to class, while her parents who were informed that their child violated the school’s picture day policy at a later time. Marian attends the Paragon Charter Academy in Jackson, Michigan. Marian reportedly cried after the encounter because she felt singled out from her classmates, of course prompting an emotional reaction from her family. “All of this is uncalled for, they didn’t even call us,” her father Doug Scott said in an interview with WILX . “Marian didn’t leave the house, go on the street and get this done on her own, no – she’s 8 years old, we did this ourselves in our own home and there’s no way I felt like this would happen.” According to the school’s policy, children are not allowed to wear ” extreme hairstyles, and the preferred styles need to have more “natural tones,” or be more “conservative.” Anything outside of that range is not permitted. According to the school’s policy, students are given one week to correct their hair if they are found to be in violation. On Monday Marian returned to school without the red hair in her braids. The family plans to have her photo retaken on November 12, WILX reports. Paragon Academy released a statement to NBC News saying, “We take great care to ensure our families are well-informed about this policy, and also work closely with students and their parents if there’s a concern.” The school’s policy leaves it open to a variety of interpretation when there are white administrators making decisions regarding what is deemed an appropriate hairstyle for students. Without full grasp, compassion, or an education on Black culture, moments like what transpired with this young girl will continue to happen. And she will undoubtedly suffer some form of trauma in relation to her hair. As we know, Eurocentric beauty standards are often held against Black children and begins at elementary school age. The discrimination continues all the way into adulthood and even on the federal level, as we see several states have adapted anti-discrimination policies in regards to the Black hairstyles we hold so near and dear to the culture.
