Source: Raymond Hall / Getty When Kanye West gets on stage there is no telling what will come out of his mouth. This week was the Wall Street Journal Innovation Festival. The organization hosted events at Neuehouse and other locations throughout Manhattan as well as an Awards Gala where individuals like MJ Rodriguez showed up in style . Attendees to the festival, however, got a star studded surprise when Kanye West stepped on stage. He spoke about sustainable fashion , bringing jobs back to the U.S. via Yeezy and more. The crowd of more than 500 people were engaged and interested in what the rapper turned fashion designer had to say. He was alongside Yeezy sneaker designer Steven Smith, who showed off the latest Yeezy sneakers that are made out of algae. Kanye West will be running for president in 2024 and in the meantime, he will be creating jobs within the next two years via his Yeezy Headquarters. The headquarters are being moved to Cody, Wyoming, where West bought a $14 million, 4,000 acre ranch in September to house his operations. Smith co-signed the operation stating, “People thought Ye was blowing smoke two weeks ago when he said that. We’re going to start manufacturing in the U.S. We’re going to bring jobs back here. We’re going to make Yeezys in America.” Yeezy headquarters will be focused on sustainable practices in fashion, but it was not confirmed he will be making them on the property. He also talked his childhood, the evolving retail environment, other designers and more. You can read more here . Nike had already delivered them to stores to be sold but, soon after Nike had asked for the shoes to be returned and that they would not be released. the shoe would’ve cost its customers $140. There have been other instances where the athletic and fashion giant decided to cut the design to be more inclusive. There was an instance where to appeal to their Chinese consumers they pulled the shoe from being released. Cardi B Checks Reporter, But ‘Okurrr’ Trademark Request Is Denied [Video]

Source: TIMOTHY A. CLARY / Getty Cardi B continues to find out how real her  Invasion Of Privacy really is. The life of the Bronx bombshell comes with ups and downs; last week was no different. The Grio is reporting that Belcalis had a very unprofessional run in with a popular Latin television personality. Things went left from the beginning as Gelena Solano from El Gordo y La Flaca (Univision) allegedly just snuck up on her and family. This was a big no no for Bardi. She vented about the situation on an Instagram Live session. “I love  El Gordo y la Flaca, I love this show – but the way that you work, you lady, you are not professional! I’m literally getting off my car, the door is not even closed, and you see that I’m with my daughter and I’m with my dad and you put a camera,” she revealed. “I turn around and there’s a camera and a mic in my mouth. You don’t know how to do your job! That’s not how it works when I’m with my child.” Later in the clip she explained her strong stance on not having her parents in the publicity mix. “My parents, they don’t like to be on camera. Back in the day I always used to post my parents and it got to the point that certain people were stalking me and that freaked my parents out.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Enrique Santos (@enriquesantos) on Jun 27, 2019 at 2:43am PDT Cardi was also handed another bad hand by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. According to  The Blast her request to trademark her catchphrase “Okurrr” for merchandising purposes was denied. The official response was that the word is a “widely-used commonplace expression” thus it is not eligible for trademarking. They also added it “is a slogan or term that does not function as a trademark or service mark to indicate the source of applicant’s goods and/or services”. “Bodak Yellow” famously made the term 2018’s new it word via her indelible social media presence and hilarious interviews. You can see her break down the meanings to “Okurrr” and “Eeeooowwww” below. Photo: Getty

Beyoncé Embroiled Blue Ivy Trademark Fight With Wedding Planner

Source: Christopher Polk / Getty Beyoncé is still in the middle of an odd legal tussle regarding the use of her daughter Blue Ivy ‘s name by a wedding planner who believes she has rights to do so. The Houston singer is refusing to hand over documents and private texts between her husband Jay-Z and mother Tina Lawson that the wedding planner believe would help her case. The Blast reports : According to documents obtained by The Blast, Veronica Morales has requested a list of documents and communications from Beyoncé in their trademark battle. Morales wants Beyoncé to turn over all documents showing any evidence she planned to actually use the trademark “Blue Ivy” (since Morales doesn’t believe the singer ever planned to use it) and any samples of her intent to use the name. Morales is also seeking all communications with Jay-Z relating to their 2016 trademark application, any communications of her or Jay-Z knowing about “Blue Ivy” before their daughter was born in February 2012, and any records of convos with Bey and her mother about the mark. Beyoncé has thus far refused to hand over the documents and is demanding a protective order be entered which would prohibit Morales or her legal team from leaking the confidential information. In 2017, the Carters trademarked their eldest daughter’s name not to use it for product placements but to prevent instances like the one Morales is attempting. — Photo: Getty

Alex Trebek: Jeopardy Host Reveals Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer Diagnosis

Sad news out of the world of television today, as beloved Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek has revealed that he’s battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Trebek shared his diagnosis with fans in a heartfelt message posted on YouTube.  Alex Trebek: I Have Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer “Hi everyone, I have some news to share with all of you and it’s in keeping with my longtime policy of being open and transparent with our Jeopardy! fan base,” Trebek said. “I also wanted to prevent you from reading or hearing some overblown or inaccurate reports regarding my health. So therefore, I wanted to be the one to pass along this information,” the 78-year-old TV legend continued. “Now, just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working. “And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease. Trebek concluded his message with his trademark wry humor, saying: “Truth told, I have to! Because under the terms of my contract, I have to host Jeopardy! for three more years! “So help me. Keep the faith and we’ll win. We’ll get it done. Thank you.” Trebek has been the face of Jeopardy! since the show was revived in 1984 following its original run under host Art Fleming. Considered by many to be the most iconic game show host of television’s modern era, Trebek’s erudition and deadpan wit have endeared him to generations of fans. The news of his grim diagnosis has been met with great concern by Jeopardy ‘s devoted fan base — but many reactions on social media are tinged with the same hope that Trebek encouraged in his announcement. Clearly, Alex is a man who’s looking to the future. In addition to his recently renewed contract with the show, Trebek recently speculated as to who might one day replace him on the show, citing CNN’s Laura Coates, LA Kings announcer Alex Faust and TCM’s Ben Mankiewicz as personal favorites. In the meantime, we hope he’ll continue to provide the answer to the question “who is television’s most courageous host?” for many years to come. Our thoughts go out to Trebek and his family during this difficult time. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Beat Cancer

SMH: Netflix Is Being Sued For Using ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ In ‘Black Mirror: Bandersnatch’

Source: SOPA Images / Getty Netflix Sued Over Using The Phrase “Choose Your Own Adventure” Even though  Black Mirror: Bandersnatch  has been out for a couple weeks now, the episode is continuing to give people one of the most frightening TV watching experiences ever. But unfortunately for the streaming service, Netflix is being sued for using the phrase “choose your own adventure” to advertise the event. Children’s book publisher Chooseco, LLC–which apparently owns the trademark to “Choose Your Own Adventure”– is filing a lawsuit against the streaming giant for  Bandersnatch . As pointed out by  The Hollywood Reporter , Chooseco has been using the trademark since the 1980s and has since sold more than 265 million copies of its  Choose Your Own Adventure  series. On top of that, according to the complaint filed in Vermont federal court, 20th Century Fox currently holds the rights to develop an interactive series based on the popular franchise. Netflix has reportedly been pursuing the license since 2016, but they never obtained it. “Chooseco and Netflix engaged in extensive negotiations that were ongoing for a number of years, but Netflix did not receive a license,” the complaint states. “On at least one occasion before the release of  Bandersnatch , Chooseco sent a written cease and desist request to Netflix asking Netflix to stop using the CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE mark in connection with its marketing efforts for another television program.” Chooseco is claiming that Netflix has benefited by using its brand, and also confused viewers with its association. The company also says it’s suffered harm to its reputation for being connected to the grim series.

Donald Trump Evokes Game of Thrones on Twitter, Draws Rebuke from HBO

Donald Trump just ruined Game of Thrones. No, the President didn’t reveal any final season spoilers, although we’re pretty sure he wouldn’t hesitate to do so if it somehow meant Republicans would keep the House on Tuesday. But he did go ahead and use the show’s iconic tagline on Twitter today, making sure no one can ever think of it again without also thinking of our racist Commander-in-Chief. Here’s what we’re talking about: Game of Thrones arrived on the television scene in the summer of 2011 by warning its viewers that “Winter is Coming.” This was a nod to the dangerous White Walkers and how they would eventually breach The Wall and kill pretty much every human alive. (Don’t ask. Just Google or, better yet, go catch up Game of Thrones before it returns in mid-2019 at some point. The show is really good.) No three words are more associated with the most popular show of its era than these three. Winter is Coming . So… what did Trump just write on Twitter? In the legendary font of the iconic HBO drama? Sanctions are Coming . Most folks clued in to the political arena think this is a reference to sanctions against Iraq. And while many experts on the topic seem to believe this is a terrible idea, we’re not here to get into a complicated political debate. (Except to say that maybe the President of the United States should not treat such a significant idea/step as a game or a joke.) We are here, however, to simply say: Come on, Mr. President! To paraphrase critics of athletes who bring up social issues, can’t you stick to politics? HBO agrees with this assessment. The network has issued a brief statement in response to Trump’s use of its show’s tagline and font. It reads: We were not aware of this messaging and would prefer our trademark not be misappropriated for political purposes. It has also Tweeted, hilariously, “How do you say trademark misuse in Dothraki?” And star Maisie Williams, who plays wildly popular character Arya, also expressed her disdain on social media: Game of Thrones Season 8 will be comprised of just six episodes. However, each will be movie-length, around 90 minutes if not more, many sources have confirmed. But that isn’t the point right now. The point is that Trump has already made it difficult to enjoy professional football and Twitter and ensured that we’ll never refer to our soccer game carpools as “caravans” ever again. Did he really need to go ahead and link himself to Game of Thrones as well? View Slideshow: Presidential Alert Text Sent to 225 Million Irritated Cell Phone Users
