The announcement even sparked reactions from Nicki Minaj and Cardi B. The Facebook-owned social media platform has already begun testing hiding likes in seven countries but has yet to try out the new idea in the states. Speaking at the WIRED25 conference, Instagram CEO Adama Mosseri made the announcement Friday (Nov.8) that it will begin test hiding likes for some users starting this week. Users will still be able to see how many likes their posts receive. Only other people will not be able to know. The motive behind the move is to help “depressurize Instagram” by “making it less of a competition Mosseri told Bloomberg on Friday. He continued: “The idea is to try and reduce anxiety and social comparisons, specifically with an eye towards young people.” While the other countries really haven’t been complaining, the news removing likes is being met with criticism from influencers and celebs alike. The decision has even brought feuding rappers Nicki Minaj and Cardi B together in agreement that they are both skeptical about the removal of likes. On Twitter Friday (Nov.8), following the news, the “Anaconda” rapper declared that she will no longer be posting on Instagram. I’m not posting on IG after this week cuz they removing the likes. They want you to have to pay them. If you pay them, then that’s why we have all these ‘sponsored’ Instagram posts… They had to shuffle it real quick to let you know, you ain’t the boss.” Cardi B also didn’t care for Instagram’s decision and sounded off on her IG Live as well, but she argued that the social media platform should focus on comments, not the likes. “It’s a big ruckus right now that the likes on Instagram are getting taken away,” she said in a Friday night Instagram post. “… This is my opinion on it, right? So from the beginning of Instagram, we had likes. And I feel like, in the beginning of Instagram, everything was so fun, people wanted to post their pictures, get likes … where I think that Instagram got a little nasty, and it just took a weird turn, was when people started to like the comments when they were allowed to like comments or reply back to somebody’s comments.” Well, we shall see how this all pans out, no word on if Instagram is gonna have second thoughts about the idea. Audrey Roloff does her best to maintain perspective at all times. In one of her latest Instagram posts, Audrey shared a few gorgeous photos. As you can see above and below, they feature her, her very large baby bump and her precious two-year old daughter, Ember. They also feature a heartfelt caption that outlines what Audrey’s life has been like of late — how, despite her glowing appearance in these snapshots, Roloff is actually struggling a bit. And she’s here to explain why. “It’s been a tough week,” Audrey wrote simply, prior to delving into how Jeremy Roloff just underwent hernia surgery and adding: “Taking care of a husband who is recovering from surgery and can hardly get up out of bed, potty training and cleaning up lots of poop and pee, working late nights/early mornings because that’s my only time, some very emotional decisions and conversations weighing heavy on my heart, on top of being 32 weeks pregnant…” That sounds like a lot. For real. Audrey continued as follows: “Although I absolutely love these photos this past week has looked a lot more like chasing a naked toddler around a messy house, little kid potties in our living room, helping either Jeremy or Ember go to the bathroom, scrubbing carpets and crayon-stained floors, all while wearing the same oatmeal-stained pajamas that I haven’t changed in two days.” Roloff was actually making a legitimate point here. She was saying that social media can be a deceptive world and that you should always remember that EVERYone — yes, even famous people — struggles at times. In conclusion, Audrey sent a message to users, writing: Rolling all the valor and stress away on my chest, listening to Phil Wickham’s new Christmas album, and continuing to remind myself that His past faithfulness demands my present trust. One follower told Audrey that she really need to relax and appreciate her relatively stress-free life, writing as a remark: Do all that and work a forty hour week driving a bus. Another, meanwhile, took things in an entirely different and sort of wild direction. “Audrey, this is life,” wrote someone with the handle “dcypl2,” who then continued by telling this story: “It goes too fast, and you just do not have any idea how blessed your week sounds to me. My daughter and son in law had to make the horrifying decision of when to pull the respirator from their one month old only son. “We only wish we could potty train him and chase him around the house. “But they never will. “They are working on his obituary, and deciding on an urn for his ashes. I know it is hard for you… but count your blessings and thank the lord for your trials…and pray for others who may have worse.” Ummm… wow, huh? Audrey is in her third trimester of pregnancy, which messes with one’s hormones and also with one physically in many different ways. She’s also caring for a two-year old, which is not an easy task on a daily basis. Her husband just underwent a serious surgery and cannot help around the house — and while, yes, it would be incredible for everyone to have some sort of global perspective at all times… … come on now. That’s just not realistic. We feel awful for the couple cited in the comment/story above, but their tragedy doesn’t mean that Audrey isn’t also going through a tough time. Last Thursday, yes on Halloween, trouble came to paradise as Demi Burnett and her fiancee Kristian Haggarty both announced that they were calling off their engagement. Last week, much of the Duggar family traveled west to visit Jinger Duggar in Los Angeles . It was the Duggars’ first pilgrimage to the City of Angels, and the entire Counting On clan made the trip — with two important exceptions. Jill Duggar stayed home with her kids, and her younger sister Joy-Anna embarked on a different kind of journey. Joy was curiously quiet on social media for most of the time that her family was in California, which led to rumors of a falling out. But now, we know she had simply set out on an adventure — one that made it very difficult to update her social media pages. Earlier this week, Joy posted the photo below to the joint Instagram account she shares with Austin. “Colorado,” the mother of one captioned the pic. “Y’all! I got to come with the guys this year on their Elk hunting trip! It’s freezing cold and we have already done a ton of hiking, but we’re excited cuz we’ve already spotted some elk!” she added. “Can’t wait for opening morning! It is absolutely GORGEOUS here!” While it’s unclear if Joy actually wielded a weapon herself, the revelation that she participated in an elk hunt didn’t sit well with some fans. “Why do you like to kill animals?I could not!” commented one such follower. Several others voiced their displeasure with Joy’s heavily-armed camping trip, but in the end, she seemed to have more supporters than detractors. “From one Colorado hunting woman to another, I appreciate you!” wrote one fan. ”I have lived here my whole life but my husband and I began hunting together 3 years ago,” the commenter continued. “Such an amazing experience and there’s just something about being surrounded by the beauty of Gods creation that really relaxes you! You can’t be against killing animals but not against destroying the environment.” One person who didn’t feel the need to weigh in on the debate was Joy. While she posted several updates on the trip she kept her comments apolitical, preferring instead to gush about her doting husband: “This Man! He has tucked me in every night, given me his blanket so I’d be warm, took my heavy backpack when I was getting tired, encouraged me when I was struggling to finish hiking up the steep trail, he is such a gentleman and helps encourage me to achieve me goals and dreams!” wrote Joy-Anna. “I love you so much, Austin Martyn!” As fans know, Joy-Anna suffered a miscarriage back in July, and she’s reportedly struggled with depression in the months since.
