The reason behind to the crash is unknown. The driver has been identified as a woman Via NBC News A vehicle careened into a crowd at the Oklahoma State University homecoming parade in Stillwater Saturday, killing three people and injuring several others, reports CBS affiliate KOTV. Stillwater Mayor Gina Noble confirmed the deaths, the station reports. Two others are in critical condition; in all, 27 have been taken to the hospital. Eight helicopters responded to the scene. The car struck parade watchers on Main Street at a high speed, the station reports. It wasn’t part of the parade. A police motorcycle was also reportedly hit. Oklahoma Highway Patrol was assisting Stillwater police respond to the incident. Dave Kapple of Houston told the Stillwater News Press that he and his son were about 10 feet away when they saw the vehicle barreling into the crowd. “We heard somebody scream, ‘Look out!.’ (The driver) plowed through a police motorcycle, and then a crowd of people,” Kapple said. “People were flying everywhere.” Konda Walker, from Anchorage, Alaska, was attending the festivities ahead of the homecoming game between Oklahoma State and Kansas. “At first we thought it was part of the show,” Walker told the News Press. “People were flying 30 feet into the air like rag dolls.” The school tweeted their condolences: Oklahoma State University is saddened by the tragic parade incident earlier this morning.
