American singer Bret Michaels, lead vocalist of the glam metal band Poison, was rushed to the hospital on April 22 after experiencing extreme headaches. It was discovered that the headaches are caused by a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage which is bleeding at the base of his brain stem. Ten days prior, Michaels, who celebrated his 47th birthday in March, was also rushed to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy. Prior to this, he was reported to be in good health. Michaels also suffers from type 1 diabetes. As of today, TMZ reports that he is said to be “awake, in good spirits and talking”, but his condition will be monitored for the next 24 to 48 hours as tests are still being done to confirm the cause of the hemorrhage.
