Ronda Rousey Makes UFC History

Move over, Danica Patrick. There’s a new female athlete making headlines around the country. Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche competed in the first-ever women’s UFC bout last night, with Rousey demonstrating why she may be a trailblazer for years to come in the arena of women sports. She won the match toward the end of the first round with her signature arm bar. Rousey – a former judo star with only two years of pro MMA experience, wondered afterward whether this was truly “real life,” adding: “I felt like the UFC champion, and I know how hard I am working. This was a wild ride, and I can’t wait to get back in the octagon.” Rousey is undefeated in seven professional MMA fights, plus she has the trash talking down to a science already. Asked if she would be affected by all the media scrutiny and attention, Ronda issued a warning to all future UFC opponents: “There’s no amount of press that can save these girls from me.”
