Robin Thicke Talks About Interracial Relationship Backlash Robin Thicke recently admitted that he and Paula both faced a lot of backlash about their swirly relationship and even revealed she refused to take him to her high school prom because she didn’t want people to know she was dating a white man… “Yeah sure, a little here and there. She [Paula] got a lot and I would take on whatever she was going through when she got home from those issues. The funny thing is, in high school she didn’t take me to prom, her prom, because she didn’t want everyone to know she was with a white guy because she was president of the Black Student Union. I was a secret. She didn’t want to show up with a white guy. Funny right? That was 20 years ago and I do believe that with music and a lot of the influences in movies and entertainment is normally the leader in changing some of these societal things.
