Beck nearly had his big night ruined at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. The artist stunned many in attendance when his name was called as the Album of the Year recipient, with Kanye West actually jumping on stage and nearly interrupting Beck’s acceptance speech, 2009 MTV Video Music Awards style. But, as you can see below, Kanye laughed and went back to his seat before things got too awkward. HOWEVER, West was dead serious in later railing against the Grammys, saying Beyonce deserved to win Album of the Year and even adding that Beck ought to give her his trophy. How does Beck feel about this criticism? Just fine, thanks! “I was just so excited he was coming up,” Beck told reporters of Kanye’s stage appearance. “He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody. How many great records has he put out in the last five years right? “You can’t please everybody, man. I still love him and think he’s genius. I aspire to do what he does.” But what about the concept that Beyonce deserves his Grammy Award? “Absolutely. I thought she was going to win. Come on, she’s Beyonce,” Beck replied.
