Breaking Dawn Wins Record-Setting Weekend

Vampires and secret British agents dominated a record-setting weekend at the box office, as two very different franchises raked in seriously big bucks. Breaking Dawn Part 2 garnered $43 million on Friday and Saturday, setting The Twilight Saga’s high mark for money made in a movie’s second weekend. Altogether, the concluding chapter in this story has already made $577 around the world. Skyfall , meanwhile, became the first James Bond movie to go over $200 domestically; it banked $36 million over the weekend and settled in to second place. Overall, the total domestic box office broke $288 million, easily beating the 2009 record of $268 million.
