Demi Lovato Calls Out Meghan Trainor Over Eating Disorder Joke

As has been well established over the past few months, Meghan Trainor is all about that bass. But, as has also been well established over the past few years, Demi Lovato is all about using her past experiences to serve as a role model to her young fans. And these two ideologies clashed a bit in recent days. It started when Trainor talked to Entertainment Tonight about her struggle to lose weight, telling the program that she grew up as a “chubby girl” and cried when a boy told her she’d be “real hot” if she were “10 pounds lighter.” Trainor says she stopped eating for the rest of the day, but “wasn’t strong enough to have an eating disorder,” later joking that she tried to “go anorexic” for a few hours, but it didn’t take. Enter Lovato, who has talked openly over the years after her battle with bulimia . “Having an eating disorder doesn’t show “strength,” Lovato Tweeted in response to Trainor’s interview. “Strength is when are able to overcome your demons after being sick and tired for so long.” Demi, of course, spent many months in rehab at the end of 2010. She has since spoken honestly about her self-esteem issues, reflecting in August about her past body shame and how she can finally now say she looks beautiful . Trainor is yet to respond to Lovato’s comments, but Lovato added in another Tweet that she has no beef with the “All About That Bass” artist. She just wants to make an important point. “Btw this isn’t a rant, just a reminder for everyone out there who may not know the severity of these deadly diseases.
