A slew of recently announced changes to Instagram’s terms and conditions have sent celebrities and regular folks alike running for the virtual exits. Instagram, which was bought by Facebook earlier this year, is under heavy scrutiny for its new usage agreement … in which users sign over everything. Basically, big bad corporate parent Facebook is co-opting all Instagram’s content … so many pantsless Rihanna photos will soon be company property. The user soon must agree, by posting photos on Instagram: “That a business or other entity may pay us to display your username, likeness, photos (along with any associated metadata), and/or actions you take, in connection with any paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you.” This policy shift has left tons of users PISSED. White Collar star Tiffani Thiessen, for one: “Really sad to have to end my luv 4 @instagram. Will be deleting my account due 2 their ridiculous new terms.” DWTS’ Cheryl Burke, for two: “Can’t believe Instagrams new policy! They r allowed 2 use ALL of ur images in advertising. Will be erasing my account shortly.” The new terms of use do not go into effect until January 16; Instagram fans have until then to either delete their accounts or sign their photos away.
