Two animated monsters have captured the top spot in the box office this weekend. Monsters University , the prequel to 2001’s Monsters, Inc. , beat out the other major release, World War Z , to win the weekend. The Pixar film earned $82 million over the three day period, while World War Z took in $66 million. Dropping down from first to third, Man of Steel added $41.2 million to bring its total gross to $210 million. Hit the jump for this weekend’s Top 10: Box office top 10: 1.
