A woman stranded in the UK because of the ash cloud asks urgent help from the U.S. government to act so that the stranded Americans can return home. Danelle McCarthy has been stuck in London since Thursday when she was due to fly home to New York afetr attending a sales conference. But her situation is complicated because she needs to take a synthetic thyroid hormone, Synthroid, daily as a result of having a her thyroid removed because of cancer. There are no available drugs from the pharmacists or chemists in the UK. She told CNN that “They have natural form of it which doesn’t absorb in my body the way that it should. I take a very high dose – 250 mcg, and it;s been a nightmare trying to get my medecine.” She also mentioned that the response of the U.S. authorities had been a disaster. She tried to contact the U.S. and all that she receives are links to the web that in anyways, are inpossible to get to. She also tried to write a letter to the White House with regards to her concern and she said the the U.S. should help U.K. lead the stranded people to get back in America.
