Are Young Parents Today More Prone to Abuse?

http://www.wrdw.com/crimeteam12/headlines/102196214.html?storySection=story Two recent, tragic stories in my area involving the abuse and death of children, made me question the present young adult's stress coping skills in regard to child rearing. Earlier this year in Moncks Corner, SC authorities found the body of a two year old boy stuffed in a trash can filled with 400lbs of concrete. He died from a blow to the head, both parents are currently awaiting trial on charges of murder by child abuse. In Zebulon,GA two women are charged with the May death of a two year old. His death was caused by blunt-force trauma. It is unclear at the link which woman, if either, is the parent. These stories seem to be repeated with increasing numbers. It seems even though the Media reports such crimes, rage and abuse towards children continue unchecked. A license is needed to drive a car, operate a business, fish and hunt, and many other endeavors. Yet the most fundamental thing in a human's life, guidance and nurturing at a young age, is left unchecked until abuse is reported or surfaces. There are many young parents doing the right thing, seeing their child as a blessing. A percentage have outside problems (drugs and emotional) that manifest in abuse of their child. Governments have laws in place and departments trying to stem and reverse the root problems. Sadly the problem grows. People that observe or suspect abuse should intervene, all to often help comes too late for that little man or lady. added by: thetrimsmith
