Boeing 787 Undergoes Extreme Weather Test

US aerospace company deployed its Boeing 787 at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida to undergo extreme weather testing. The plane was sent to the McKinley Climate Laboratory for two weeks to conduct testing in temperatures raging from 115 to negative 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Flight test technicians will take the 787 through the steps necessary to prepare for takeoff once the plane stabilizes at either temperature extreme. Various sensors will determine if all airplane operations proceed as anticipated. “This testing is about ensuring that the airplane meets the expectations of our customers,” said Scott Fancher, vice president and general manager of the 787 program for Boeing. A Boeing 787 Dreamliner is mid-sized, wide-body, twin-engine jet airliner developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. It can accommodate 210 to 330 passengers, depending on variant. It is the company’s most fuel-efficient airliner and the world’s first major airliner to use composite materials for most of its construction.
