Jian Ghomeshi was born in 1967 in London, England to Frank Ghomeshi, and is of Iranian descent. His family moved to Canada when Ghomeshi was seven and lived in Thornhill, Ontario. Ghomeshi attended York University, where he was president of the York Federation of Students, subsequently graduating with degrees in political science and history.
