Shakira, a Cambodian pop star, visited child survivors of Haiti’s earthquake. Her charity is preparing to build a school in Haiti, the disaster-stricken Caribbean country. She flew into the wrecked Haitian capital Port-au-Prince in a private jet. She has also been a part in the fund raising event for the victims of January 12 earthquake disaster which was participated by Hollywood actors and other global celebrities. The singer met almost 100 children at the planned site of her Barefoot Haiti school. Some of the children danced to her songs. The Haitian school would be built and managed with other non-governmental organizations. Then she toured around a camp housing with almost 50,000 people on a golf course. There she met US actor Sean Penn, whose own charity is also giving assistance to the victims. Shakira hopes that by providing education to Haitian children, it would become a key part in reconstructing the country which was shattered by the quake.
