Being the 3rd Grand Slam Tennis event of the year, Wimbledon 2010 has raised its cash prize. Champions of both Men’s and Women’s Division will receive an astonishing £1 Million cash prize. It will take place on the outdoor grass courts at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London, from Monday 21 June through to Sunday 4 July 2010. All England Club chairman Tim Phillips said that there a need to offer prize money that is commensurate with the tournament and competitive in the market. “It’s important that we offer a level of prize money which is both appropriate to the prestige of the event and which gives the players full and fair reward”, he added. Wimbledon 2010 will happen at the same time with also another famous sport event, FIFA or the World Cup. However, the tennis venue and event has been declared a World Cup-free zone, with the All England Club refusing to show matches from South Africa on the big screen or other public areas.
