The rapper announced earlier this week that the singer would appear on his debut album Thank Me Later ‘s opening track, the intriguing “Fireworks.” And Keys’ latest single, “Un-thinkable (I’m Ready),” on which she collaborated with Drake and his producer Noah “40” Shebib, now has a verse by the Toronto lyricist tacked on it. And the track is already gaining on Billboard ‘s Hot 100 chart. On Wednesday (May 19), New York jock DJ Enuff posted Drake’s remix of “Un-thinkable” on his website, ThatsEnuff.com . In his verse, which kicks off the remix, Drake takes a different twist on the ticking biological clock, addressing it from a man’s perspective by using conversations he’s had with his and Lil Wayne’s manager, Cortez Bryant. “Tez keeps telling me he just turned 30/ Having dreams of being single forever, he’s getting worried,” Drake raps. “And I’m scared too, ’cause I’m in the same boat/ Good women are rare too, none of them ever came close/ Me, I haven’t changed much, you know how I play it/ Better safe than sorry, instead of searching for substance at every single party.” The So Far Gone superstar continues, turning inward, describing his own life as a newcomer ascending into a new circle as a rising talent. “Baby, being part of this life, I feel like I’m bound to end up with somebody that’s been with everybody/ I need you to rescue me from my destiny/ I’m trying to live right and give you whatever’s left of me/ ‘Cause you know life is what we make it/ And a chance is like a picture, it’d be nice if you take it/ Or let me take it for you, I’m just down to ride/ We can roll around the city until you finally decide/ I got more than a thing for you, tattoo it in ink for you/ Right over my heart, girl, I do the un-thinkable.” Late last year, Drake said working with Keys on her Element of Freedom album was “one of the best studio experiences of my life.” The video to the original “Un-thinkable (I’m Ready)” premiered last week and stars former “One Tree Hill” star Chad Michael Murray.
