Budding fashion designer calls London trio’s music ‘so pretty.’ By Kyle Anderson, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Whitney Port Photo: MTV News “The Hills” spin-off “The City” is not only a show about the new adventures of Whitney Port but also about the titular metropolis, New York. The second season of the show (which just premiered on MTV last week) follows Port through the Big Apple’s fashion universe as she launches her new label, Whitney Eve. Though she loves Manhattan, she is not averse to leaving the city — especially when new music is involved. In fact, the 25-year-old reality star recently ventured out to the desert in Indio, California, for the annual Coachella festival, where she checked out her current #MusicMonday jam. “I’ve been listening to this new band called the xx,” she told MTV News. “Well, they’re not new, but they’re new to me. I just saw them at Coachella. It was so pretty.” The xx (yes, those letters are always in lower case) hail from London and released their debut self-titled album last August. Since then, the trio have been slowly worming their way into the subconscious of the TV-watching masses. And while they haven’t appeared on “The City,” they have had songs featured on episodes of “Gossip Girl,” “Cold Case,” “90210,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Lie to Me.” In case you missed them at Coachella, you can still catch them at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and the Matt Groening-curated All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival in Minehead, England. What’s your #MusicMonday jam? Let us know in the comments! Watch a new episode of “The City” this Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT after “The Hills” at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
