No one tells a story or has told a story quite like Slick Rick a.k.a. “The Ruler” , a.k.a. “Ricky Dee”. After being introduced to the game by Doug E. Fresh on the classic hits “La Di Da Di” & “The Show”, Slick Rick ventured off on his own to create on of the most famous albums in hip hop history. “The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick,” was in a class by itself. Ricky Dee’s storybook rhymes held your attention straight through the album with no guest features. Slick Rick’s imagination was unlike any other rapper in ’88, he told stories of the “Little Indian Girl”, referenced the Knight Rider car in “Kit (What’s The Scoop)” as well as the timeless classics, “Mona Lisa” & “Childrens Story”. Although he made songs about being “The Ruler” and expensive trunk jewels, he wasn’t too cool to not rap about keeping those jewels safe on his neck or landing in jail for trying to live the “fastlane lifestyle”. Why is it that Drug dealer rappers nowadays never get caught?
