I don’t know, maybe someone was having fun,” Reynolds said of the discovery, which would have made him the wealthiest man in the world by a large margin if legitimate. Unfortunately, when Reynolds checked the actual website, he saw his balance for what it truly is: $0. PayPal owned up to the mistake and offered to donate an unknown amount to a cause of Reynolds’ choosing. So that’s almost the same as being a quadrillionaire! “This is obviously an error and we appreciate that Mr. Reynolds understood this was the case,” PayPal said in a statement.
