The event was organised by the Association and the Taman Jurong Community Sports Club. Runners could choose between a 10-kilometre competitive race or a five-kilometre fun run. Over 5,000 people participated in western Singapore#39;s first major running event, the Jurong Lake Run. Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said the event, aimed at youths, will become a signature event every year.
