Philly Woman Seeks Positive Change For Community And Runs For Magisterial District Judge!

Jacquelyn Carter Runs For Magisterial District Judge In Coatesville, PA Black women rock and one incredible example is a Coatesville, PA resident by the name of Jacquelyn Carter! The Pennsylvania resident is seeking to bring a brighter future to her community by running for Magisterial District Judge (MDJ) for Coatesville Wards 1, 3, 5 & Valley Township. Ms. Carter’s platform emphasizes that the criminal justice system is flawed in its approach to render fair and just decisions resulting in prison overcrowding, a backlog of cases that keeps members of our community in legal limbo, and does not allow you, the people, to understand the court process. The Magistrate hopeful created innovative community programs that have been the catalyst for educational change. The SAFE Program (Suspension Alternative For Education) was an out-of-school suspension program during the zero-tolerance policy era that resulted in a substantial amount of students becoming indefinitely suspended or expelled. The SAFE Program allowed students to remain current with their schoolwork, receive mentoring and tutoring, and breakfast and lunch. Another program that was launched, Our Returning Citizens Ministry (traditionally called Prison Ministry) allows people to visit men and women behind prison walls on a regular basis, serve as their advocates for basic human rights while incarcerated, and demonstrate to the men and women incarcerated that they are not forgotten. Ms. Carter adds that it has never been more important to elect a MDJ who can objectively hear and effectively decide cases, ensure rights to due process of the law, and empower you by explaining the court process. Therefore, if a time arises that you may need to attend a magisterial district court hearing, you can be empowered by knowing your rights.
