West Virginia and Ohio

We started off the day at the famed Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia where Dad spoke to the University’s Thundering Herd football players during practice and even called some plays for the team. The drive to the campus was breathtaking and I played John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” on the bus stereo system as we made our way to Huntington.  Our next stop was at a cabinet factory in Jackson, Ohio where we went on a tour and Dad held a press conference.  This afternoon, we stopped by a local fire station where Dad chatted with the firemen on duty and brought them some pizza.  We spent the entire day traveling by bus, rather than by plane; it’s my favorite way to experience the campaign trail because we’re able to see so many local sights and meet people along the way. On a much more serious note, we would like to give a “get well soon” shout out to our bus driver, Johnny, who recently underwent triple bypass surgery.  We want him to know that he’s in all of our thoughts and prayers and we hope he makes a speedy recovery! Song of the Day: “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver
