Tim Tebow: CUT By New England Patriots!

Tim Tebow is done with the New England Patriots, with the team waiving him early Saturday, a week before the 2013 NFL season even begins. The bigger question? Whether his NFL career is also over. ESPN first reported that Tebow, one of the NFL’s most popular players, was among the casualties of the team’s final cut-down day before the season. The 26-year-old Tebow signed a two-year contract with the Patriots that included no guarantees. In three preseason appearances, he was not great. Completing just 11-of-30 passes for two TDs and two interceptions, Tim Tebow admitted Thursday that he was not sure he had done well enough to stay. He hadn’t. Ryan Mallett will be Tom Brady’s backup. There is still a possibility that Pats coach Bill Belichick could have an interest in bringing Tebow back on his 53-man roster at some point in 2013. If he believes Tebow can help him win a game as a potential read-option situational package wrinkle, and there is an open roster spot, you never know. Tebow could also help Belichick’s defense prepare for facing a read-option attack from an opponent by running the scout team offense in practice. That’s all speculation for the time being, though. The former Heisman winner once again being without an NFL team despite his popularity is a fact. There’s always the Omaha Beef .

Harry Connick Jr. Confirmed as American Idol Judge?

It looks like American Idol has finally found its third and final Season 13 judge. Following rejections by Diddy, Kanye West , Dr. Luke and Scotter Braun, Us Weekly confirms that Harry Connick Jr. will join Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez on the show’s panel when auditions start up again in January. Connick has appeared many times on Idol as a mentor, hinting as his new status Thursday when he re-Tweeted a message from Ellen DeGeneres that read: “@HarryConnickJr. might be a judge on American Idol! He loves to follow in my footsteps. It’s like having a boring little brother.” Connick also said in May that he was open to the gig, even detailing what sort of panelist he would be:. “I think you need to be completely honest and I think you need to be diplomatic,” he said. “I think there’s no reason to be mean, but it’s called being a judge.” Fox is yet to release a statement confirming this news, but assuming it’s true, sound off now: Will Harry Connick Jr. make a solid American Idol judge?   Yes, he’s perfect! No, he’s old! Is that show really coming back?!? View Poll »
