Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry Reach Legal Settlement

One week after their relationship hit rock bottom, Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry have reportedly agreed to a legal truce. Details of the accord are scarce, but Aubry showed up in court today (Berry and fiancé Olivier Martinez were absent), with his attorney and Berry’s attorney releasing a joint statement a short while ago that simply reads: “The parties have reached an amicable agreement. There will be no further statements regarding this matter.” At immediate issue had been the protective order against Aubry granted to Berry on Thanksgiving, hours after Gabriel and Martinez brawled on her property and the latter was arrested for battery. It was scheduled to expire today. Aubry, meanwhile, had also been provided with a temporary restraining order against Martinez. He alleges that the actor started the fisticuffs and threatened his life – but the official police report points the finger of blame for the fight directly at Aubry .

Black Keys’ New Beefs Include Pizza Hut, Home Depot And … Van Halen?

Though between legs of their tour, band is still making headlines, with copyright infringment suits and shots at the reunited Van Halen. By James Montgomery Black Keys Photo: The Black Keys have been keeping busy lately, though very little of that activity has to do with actual music. Instead, the Keys — who wrapped one leg of their El Camino world tour last month — are using their downtime to fire up the legal machine, filing a pair of copyright infringement lawsuits against Pizza Hut and the Home Depot. The suits, filed late last week, allege that two recent commercials — one touting Pizza Hut’s Cheesy Bites Pizza, the other promoting Ryobi power tools — feature music that sound a bit too much like the Keys’ hits “Gold on the Ceiling” and “Lonely Boy,” respectively. The Keys are seeking damages and an order preventing the continued use of the songs in the spots. The suits claim that both companies received written notices that the ads misused the Black Keys’ music, and according to The Associated Press, the band is looking to make them pay, to the tune of “unspecified damages of more than $75,000 apiece.” “The experts confirmed that this was copyright infringement,” a band spokesperson told the AP. A spokesperson for Pizza Hut told the AP that the company had yet to actually review the suit, and a rep for Home Depot added that “respect for intellectual property rights is a matter we take very seriously.” Of course, that’s not the only bit of Black Keys news out there. On Friday, oft-quoted drummer Patrick Carney — who in the past has taken shots at Spotify’s Sean Parker, Nickelback and Lady Gaga — was at it again, sounding off to Rolling Stone on a variety of topics, including dance music and the fact that the recently reunited Van Halen (which features Eddie Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang, on bass, in place of founding member Michael Anthony) is “f—ing retarded.” “I have no interest in seeing bands with partial lineups. I just saw Van Halen without Michael Anthony … it was such a f—ing bummer. Like, what the f— is the point?” Carney said. “I mean, sure, Eddie Van Halen’s son is a pretty good bass player and he’s a 20-year-old kid and that’s cool, but like, what the f— is that? … If someone is able to be in a band for 30 years and then people are okay with replacing him with a 17-year-old, they’re obviously motherf—ing a–holes, right?” He also added that on a majority of recent festival dates, the Keys have witnessed first-hand the ascent of electronic dance music, and it mystifies him, to say the least. “I don’t understand it. I think when you’re trying to sell a hundred thousand tickets, you have to have a diverse crowd,” he said. “I think you have to kind of hedge your bets and make sure there’s stuff for people who listen to that music. I don’t know who listens to that kind of music, instrumental versions of LMFAO or whatever.” Oh, and Carney added that the Keys will return to the studio in July to begin work on the follow-up to El Camino, with the hopes of having the album out next year. So, yeah, there’s a lot going on right now — even if there really isn’t. Related Videos MTV First: The Black Keys’ ‘Gold On The Ceiling’ Related Artists The Black Keys

Lil Scrappy And Stevie J’s ‘Love & Hip-Hop’ Fight ‘A Real Situation’

Scrappy tells ‘RapFix Live’ about the drama, denying rumors the show is scripted. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Lil Scrappy Photo: You can expect the female cast of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” to kick up some dust this season, but the guys get into their fair share of drama as well. A preview trailer for the rest of the upcoming season shows Lil Scrappy and record producer Stevie J. getting into a heated argument. Of course the tease is cut so we don’t see much of the action, but the clip does show an agitated Scrap punching a wall after he and Stevie go nose-to-nose. “It was a situation; it was a real situation,” Scrap said when he appeared on “RapFix Live” on Wednesday. According to Scrappy, the argument began after Stevie disrespected recurring castmember Erica, Scrappy’s child’s mother. The ATL MC feels that if Stevie had a problem with Erica, he should’ve bypassed her and addressed Scrappy instead. “Like I told him, you can walk off, you don’t gotta disrespect no female,” he said. “If you really wanna do something, ask her where her man at and tell him you wanna throw hands, you wanna take the fade, and I would’ve been happy to do that.” Though Stevie and Scrappy are accomplished musicians and both now reside in the same city, Scrap says prior to the show neither he nor Erica had a personal connection to the multiplatinum producer, who has done work for the likes of Diddy, Jay-Z and Mariah Carey. “He didn’t even ask — he didn’t know who she was. All he knew is she was a part of the situation and he wanted to pop off,” Scrappy said. The “Money in the Bank” MC wouldn’t give away the details of the fisticuffs, but he did shoot down whispers that he, his mother and his child’s mother were following a script. “I don’t know about the whole show and how [Stevie J.] do his end. I know my team Scrappy — we real on that side,” he said. Do you believe that “Love & Hip Hop” is scripted? Sound off in the comments! Related Videos ‘RapFix Live’ Gets Scrappy

Ray J on Fight with Fabolous: I Touched That [Black Man]!

Ray J knows how to publicize a good pounding. First case in point: Kim Kardashian Superstar . The most recent example: a fight in Las Vegas with Fabolous. After getting kicked out of The Palms over the weekend for throwing down with the rapper, Ray J went on local radio station 105.1 and explained what led to the fisticuffs: a not so Fabolous Tweet that mocked the aspiring singer’s career. Explained the man who made Kim Kardashian famous: “When I seen him, I was with Floyd [Mayweather] and 50 [Cent] and he tried to say, ‘Don’t touch me.’ And I touched that n***a!” Well, that explains it. Mayweather himself was in a fighting mood on Saturday night – and we don’t mean during his match against Victor Ortiz! [Photos: WENN.com]
