In truly ridiculous fashion that no one could possibly have seen coming, closer Dave Robertson blew a three-run lead in the top of the ninth, seemingly putting a damper on Jeter’s final appearance in the Bronx… … only for Jeter to step to the plate in the bottom half of the inning. With one out. And the game tied at 5. And for Jeter to line a single to right. And for the winning run to cross the plate.
